Abstract: Disclosed is a process for preparing very highly alkaline, calcium-based, detergent-dispersant additives for lubricating oils and products produced by such a process. The process includes the steps of reacting an alkylbenzenesulfonic acid, an alkylphenol, diluent oil, halogen ions and lime, removing water formed during the reaction, sulfurizing the resultant product in the presence of glycol and at least one additional alcohol having a boiling point in excess of about 155.degree. C., carbonating the sulfurized product, removing the glycol and heavy alcohol from the sulfurized, carbonated reaction product, and filtering to remove sediment and to obtain a reaction product comprising a highly-alkaline, calcium-based detergent-dispersant additive for lubricating oils.
Abstract: Lubricating oils containing an additive which contributes dispersancy and detergency to the lubricating oils are provided. The additives comprise hydroxy polyether amines of the general formula: ##STR1## The additive is present in the lubricating oil in a concentration of from about 0.01 to 10 percent by weight.
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for producing aromatic hydrocarbons from a feedstock containing a major proportion of methane. The feedstock, in the vapor phase and in the absence of oxygen, is brought into contact with an aluminosilicate at a temperature from 650.degree. C.-800.degree. C. The feedstock may optionally contain ethane.
Abstract: A catalyst is disclosed which comprises a molybdenum-tungsten-containing complex represented by the formulaMo.sub.a W.sub.b M.sub.c A.sub.d O.sub.
Abstract: The arch support device is in the form of a removable shoe insert which is a substantially rigid thin unitary member truncated at both ends to fit between the heel and ball of the foot without underlying either one. A central arch portion is supported from a peripheral base means and is cantilevered for positioning above the shoe shank to present a concave support arm in the transverse direction and a convex support arm in the longitudinal direction. The arch support device extends substantially the full breadth of the plantar surface of the foot to be interposed between the midfoot and shoe insole.
Abstract: A gasoline additive composition comprising an organic peroxide and a gasoline detergent in a hydrocarbon solvent. Improvements in engine power, fuel economy, and emissions are achieved when the composition is added to gasoline.
Abstract: Methane is converted into higher hydrocarbons by a process wherein a gas comprising methane and molecular oxygen is contacted at elevated temperatures with a molten salt mixture containing at least one reducible metal oxide.
Abstract: A crankcase lubricating oil composition for railway diesel engines, containing a mineral lubricating oil, an overbased calcium alkylphenolate and an alkyaryl sulfonate oxidation and corrosion inhibiting amount of a reaction product of polyoxyisopropylene diamine, dibasic acid anhydride and polyalkylene polyamine.

Abstract: Lubricant compositions adapted for use under extreme pressure, high temperature and high speed conditions comprising a major proportion of an oil or grease base material, having a dropping point above about 300.degree. F., and a minor proportion of an additive system containing as an essential component an inorganic phosphate salt, or mixture thereof, in solid form. Preferred salts are alkaline earth metal ortho- or pyrophosphates exemplified by dicalcium phosphate.
Abstract: Combined antiblocking agent and lubricant concentrate based on polyolefin, which contains diatomaceous earth, precipitated silica and/or silica gel as the antiblocking agent, one or more amides of unsaturated C.sub.18 -C.sub.22 -fatty acids and optionally further conventional additives and which is characterized in that it contains 5 to 35% by weight of antiblocking agent and 5 to 30% by weight of lubricant. The high lubricant concentration in the combination concentrate according to the invention is obtained in that the antiblocking agent and the lubricant are incorporated into the polyolefin in the form of a homogeneous, finely divided mixture. The antiblocking agent serves as a carrier for the micronized lubricant, i.e. the lubricant is adsorbed on the large surface of the antiblocking agent, so that the "flowing away" of the lubricant otherwise observed in the case of high lubricant concentrations during incorporation into the polyolefin is avoided.
Abstract: An improved method for converting methane to higher hydrocarbon products by contacting a hydrocarbon gas comprising methane, an oxygen-containing gas and a reducible metal oxide under conditions effective to produce higher hydrocarbon products and water, the improvement which comprises conducting the contacting in the presence of at least one stabilizer selected from the group consisting of chalcogens and compounds thereof.
