  • Patent number: 4543447
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electromagnetic shielding device. Further, the present invention relates to a arrangement for electromagnetic shielding of two adjacent relatively movable members having opposed surfaces with a space therebetween. The electromagnetic shielding device includes a resilient cap portion having a center portion and a plurality of segments extending radially outwardly therefrom. An arrangement for retaining the cap portion on one of the surfaces is provided. The retaining arrangement includes a thin disk adapted to be received between the segments of the cap portion and resilient tongues extending radially inwardly from an outer end of each of the segments. The cap portion in a free state has a height which is greater than the distance of the space between the opposed surfaces to be shielded. In this way, the cap portion is compressed to fit within the space upon movement of the members toward one another to ensure electrical connection between the two opposed surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4536613
Abstract: A cable clamp assembly comprises a bushing member adapted to receive an electrical power cable, tubing or the like, has a pair of jaw members adapted to fit through a cable entry port in the wall of an outlet box. One jaw is fixedly secured to the bushing while the other is formed on a movable arm member. A lug portion of the bushing provides a cavity which serves as a guide for travel of the arm and a threaded fastener passes through the lug and threadably engages the arm to move the arm. A biasing member associated between the bushing and the screw urges the arm member away from the fixed jaw. The biasing means may be generally U-shaped and located generally over the lug, with the free ends of its leg portions abutting the exterior of the bushing member and an aperture in its base portion to receive the screw.

  • Patent number: 4529834
Abstract: Formed metal electrical wiring boxes possess integral wiring device mounting members which permit the facile push-insertion of the wiring device mounting screws, but which firmly engage the mounting screws once tightened down. The mounting members comprise a flat portion attached to each endwall of the wiring box and formed at right angles to the endwalls. Opposed leg portions are attached to the flat portion, and are folded downwardly along the box endwalls. The leg portions terminate in opposed foot portions spaced apart from one another by a distance less than the diameter of the wiring device mounting screw. A mounting screw inserted through an aperture in the flat portion and between the opposed leg portions contacts the opposed foot portions forcing the leg portions apart to permit the push-insertion of the screw. Turning the mounting screw draws the opposed foot portions upward, forcing them against the screw threads to firmly engage the screw.

  • Patent number: 4514585
Abstract: A filter for use in combination with a cathode ray tube screen to transmit light and absorb other types of energy comprises a translucent plastic substrate onto which is applied a wire mesh impregnated with a thin layer of a bonding agent which constitutes one surface of the filter. In manufacturing the filter, a thin layer of the bonding agent is deposited on the topside of a platen, and the mesh is pressed into the bonding agent to cause it to impregnate the mesh. The translucent plastic substrate is placed on the impregnated mesh, and pressure is applied between the substrate and the platen to form a laminate. Thereafter, the laminate is cured and seperated from the platen, after which it may be placed in a mold and formed into a curved shape.
