  • Patent number: 4652696
Abstract: An electrical receptacle protective device includes a base plate which replaces the conventional face plate of an electrical outlet, and a cover which is attached to the base plate. The cover is secured to the base plate by three latches. In order to remove the cover from the base plate and access the outlet, all three latches must be released simultaneously. These latches are spaced in a manner such that two adult sized hands are required to release all three simultaneously. The spacing of the latches, combined with the requirement for their simultaneous actuation, inhibits the removal of the cover by a small child who does not have sufficient dexterity to carry out these operations.

  • Patent number: 4652695
Abstract: A high frequency RFI/EMI shielding strip is disclosed which comprises a strip of two-layer circular knit metal mesh material, which is folded around the exterior of a resilient core element. Projecting edge margins of the conductive mesh material are gripped and clamped by a continuously extending flange structure, forming an integral part of a continuous clip element. The structure eliminates the necessity for knitting the conductive mesh material in-situ about the resilient core. Exceptional cost savings result, without compromise in shielding performance.

  • Patent number: 4644096
Abstract: A modified TO-8 package has a kovar header supporting an FET amplifier hermetically sealed by a cover welded along the seam between the cover edge and header edge. The header is formed with three circular openings in space quadrature about the package axis. A circular copper spacer contacts the header and is formed with channels extending radially outward from the header openings to define with the openings three lead channels. A lead having a right angle bend is seated in each channel having an upstanding pin portion above the header. The volume between the lead and the header is filled with hermetically sealing low expansion borosilicate glass. The remainder of each channel is filled or coated with nonconductive epoxy. The depending portions of the leads are flush with the bottom of the copper spacer.

  • Patent number: 4644095
Abstract: A base member of an enclosure supports an upright frame having a box-like door hinged at its upper portion to the frame. The door when swung outwardly to an open position provides access to the interior of the enclosure and also provides a cover for equipment in the enclosure from weather elements. The upright frame may support double doors for providing an enclosure for different portions of communications equipment, the double doors also providing selected locked access to authorized personnel. The base member is constructed of two separable parts in an arrangement such that these parts can be replaced by larger parts when the capacity of the communications equipment is to be expanded. The enclosure is preferably constructed of a rust and corrosion proof plastic material and one that requires little or no maintenance.

  • Patent number: 4642418
Abstract: A wall-mounted electrical utility module is disclosed which provides an open, rectangular frame mounted in an opening in one side of a wall. The adjacent, opposite panel closes the rearward side of the frame and cooperates therewith to provide a module chamber. Flange means are provided on the frame which include adjustable plates. The side plates abut with adjacent panels and the upper and lower plates overlap the wall panels above and below the opening. The plates are secured to the wall studs to provide a firm mounting for the module. A removable cover provides access to the module interior. The cover provides sound insulation and a resilient seal. The cover is spaced from the wall so that cords can pass under the edge of the cover and be plugged into receptacles provided within the module.

  • Patent number: 4642419
Abstract: A four-leaded dual in-line package is disclosed in which a rectangular insulation housing carries a semiconductor device therein which is connected to flat lead frame elements which extend out through the opposite sides of the insulation housing and define two pairs of in-line leads on opposite respective sides of the insulation housing. Two leads on one side of the package are insulated from one another and the two leads on the other side of the package are joined together. The two leads which are joined together extend from a flat heat sink frame section which carries a semiconductor chip in good heat-conduction relationship. The device within the package is disclosed as a three-electrode MOS transistor. Other devices can be contained within the housing. The insulation housing surrounding the in-line leads extends beyond the centers of the leads by a distance equal to one-half of the center-to-center spacing between leads.

  • Patent number: 4628146
Abstract: A casing for electrical components, component assemblies or integrated circuits, and particularly for electrical surface-wave filters, is disclosed as well as a method of production therefor where the electrically active element rests on a base strip from which project outgoing connectors through the casing walls. The connectors provide mechanical and electrical connection to printed circuit boards. A thermosetting-plastic trough adheres closely to the underside of the base strip, while the side-wall reels of the trough rest on the borders of the upper surface of the base strip. Over the trough is placed a thermosetting-plastic lid so that the active element is contained in an enclosure. The trough-and-lid assembly is then coatable in thermosetting plastic.

  • Patent number: 4628147
Abstract: A semiconductor housing particularly useful for very high current devices, e.g. transistors and G.T.O. thyristors, in which a control lead to the base or gate of the device, which also has to carry a relatively high current, passes through an insulating wall of the housing. This control lead is enclosed within a tube which passes through an insulating wall of the housing and which is hermetically sealed to it, the tube is also hermetically sealed to the conductor at either end. The coefficient of expansion of the tube is chosen so as to be substantially the same as the coefficient of expansion of the material of the insulating wall, which may be made of ceramic material or the like. The arrangement avoids corrosion effects as a result of the entrapment of plating salts etc. which are known to adversely affect the assembly and especially the electrical performance of the control lead connection.
