Patent number: 4623753Abstract: A watertight enclosure for use in an outdoor junction box for use in housing electrical connections such as solar panel installations includes a mating base and cover. The base is bounded by an upstanding peripheral wall having a channel profiled in the top. The mating cover has an outwardly facing channel formed by upper and lower peripheral parallel flanges. The lower flange on the cover fits into the channel in the box member and the upper flange overlaps the outer wall leaving a slight gap providing the only opening to the otherwise enclosed duct about the periphery of the assembly. Wires passing through bores in the upstanding wall are sealed by compressing elastomeric spheres which bore into conformity with the wires passing therethrough.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 1983Date of Patent: November 18, 1986Assignee: AMP IncorporatedInventors: Steven Feldman, Marvin L. Patent number: 4622433Abstract: In accordance with the preferred embodiments of the invention, provided is a hermetic ceramic/glass enclosure for encapsulating semiconductor components which reduces the internal cavity moisture and contamination levels, has a stronger package seal and a lower sealing temperature than hermetic ceramic/glass enclosures currently used. Included in the first embodiment is a lower substrate, with a conductive leadframe attached thereto via devitrified glass and a layer of vitreous glass on the leadframe for attaching a cap which also includes a layer of vitreous glass. To seal the enclosure, the cap is heated to a temperature T1 above the melting point of the vitreous glass, and the lower substrate, is maintained at a temperature high enough to bond to the vitreous layer on the cap on contact, but low enough to eliminate damage to the semiconductor component and additional Gold-Silicon eutectic formation between the semiconductor component and the enclosure lower substrate.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1984Date of Patent: November 11, 1986Assignee: Diacon, Inc.Inventor: Thomas J. Patent number: 4616102Abstract: An electrical cable assembly for use in particular with undercarpet wiring systems has a flat multiconductor cable encased in electrical insulation, an insulative film extending lengthwise on the cable and an electrically conductive member overlying the film lengthwise, the conductive member having successive lengthwise extents that are respectively unsecured and secured to the cable. The film is provided with openings therethrough in registry with an exclusive one of the cable conductors through which the conductive member extents are connected to the cable. An electrically conductive shield preferably extends lengthwise with and overlies the conductive member. The shield is selected from material having a hardness greater than that of the conductive member. The material of the conductive member is preferably less cathodic in the electromotive series than the shield material so that in the presence of a corroding medium the shield and not the conductive member will first galvanically corrode.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 1980Date of Patent: October 7, 1986Assignee: Thomas & Betts CorporationInventor: Peter Noorily
