    Abstract: In an automatic transmission control system incorporating the conventional line, throttle, and governor fluid pressure regulation valves, mannual selector valve, and shift valves such as 1/2, 2/3, and 3/4 shift valves, there is further incorporated a modulator fluid pressure control valve which produces a modulator fluid pressure of a predetermined constant level from the line pressure available from a port of the manual selector valve when it is shifted to a lower range, such as, for example, 2 range. The line fluid pressure regulation valve, which is normally boosted by the throttle pressure, is instead boosted by the modulator fluid pressure when the modulator fluid pressure is present while the throttle fluid pressure is very low as at the time when the manual selector valve has been shifted from the D range to the 2 range for effecting rapid deceleration of the vehicle, so as to support the governor pressure, generated from the line pressure, at a high level while the vehicle speed is still high.

    Abstract: A gear box having two coaxial output shafts. The gear box provides for selectively turning the shafts whereby either the outer and inner output shafts rotate together in the same direction at the same angular velocity, the inner output shaft is rotated while the outer output shaft remains stationary, or the outer and inner output shafts are rotated independently of each other. The gear box includes two spaced apart coaxial spur bevel gears and a pair of spur bevel pinions each in meshing engagement with both spur bevel gears. A spur shaft is concentrically located over the inner output shaft and the spur bevel pinions are structurally attached to the spur shaft by radially axles. A first one of the spur bevel gears is concentrically located on the outer output shaft and attached thereto for rotation therewith. The second one of the spur bevel gears is concentrically located on the spur shaft and is journal mounted thereon for independent rotation.

    Abstract: An angular position adjusting device including a planetary gear mechanism intervening between a fixed member and a movable member rotatably arranged relative to the fixed member in such a way that the relative gear engagement position between an inner gear and an outer gear of said planetary gear mechanism is changeable when any one of the inner gear and outer gear is eccentrically rotated by an eccentrically rotatable member. The planetary gear mechanism is in engagement with one of the fixed member and the movable member and a torque limiting coupling means intervenes between the planetary gear mechanism and the other of the fixed member and the movable member. A motor for rotating the eccentrically rotatable member may be mounted on any one of the movable and fixed members. With a compact size a high gear reduction ratio and a high shock damping are realized.

The planetary rollers are attached to shafts which have a limited amount of radial movement. The outer periphery deforms to exert a frictional contact pressure on the planetary rollers such that a torque can be transmitted. The torque is adjustable by a circular disk which fits inside the outer periphery to regulate the amount of deformation. The circular disk can be moved axially to adjust the torque.

    Abstract: A control system for a continuously variable transmission has a line pressure control valve having ports and a spool for controlling the line pressure of oil supplied to a cylinder of a pulley device to change the transmission ratio. The line pressure control valve has chambers. When the transmission ratio reaches a maximum value after disengagement of a clutch, a line pressure reducing signal generates. The signal is applied to the line pressure control valve to shift the spool thereof, so that the line pressure is reduced to a minimum value. By controlling the pressure of oil supplied to the chambers in accordance with a desired line pressure, the spool is shifted, so that the line pressure is controlled.

Additionally, the first portion of the relative speed limiting device is normally driven by one of the shafts at the selected speed thereof and the second portion of the relative speed limiting device is normally driven by the other of the shafts at the slected speed thereof in the shaft relative speed limiting system.

By extending the particularly defined ratio sequence to a series arrangement of similarly constructed gearboxes, the number of continuum ratios in the resulting transmission will be enhanced by a factor of three (3) to five (5) and the continuum will again be of the same geometric progression.
