  • Patent number: 9462484
Abstract: In a multi-carrier wireless system, potential problems from reconfiguring mobile station resources to accommodate changes in component-carrier configuration are mitigated by inserting a guard period each time the configuration of component carriers changes, so that transceiver reconfiguration can be carried out without interfering with ongoing transmission. A base station is configured to transmit data to a mobile station according to a first configuration of two or more component carriers, to determine that a change of configuration to a second component-carrier configuration is required, and to signal the change of configuration to the mobile station, using the first configuration of component carriers. The base station then refrains from transmitting data to the mobile station during a pre-determined guard interval of at least one transmission-time interval subsequent to the signaling of the change of configuration.

  • Patent number: 9461913
Abstract: Embodiments relate to a method for transmitting a message in a data path of a network, the method includes transmitting a message onto an input bus of an input interface module, the message being received in flits of a size corresponding to the width of the input bus and generating a validity indicator for each elementary flit constituting each flit received. The message is transmitted onto an output bus of the input interface module towards a receiving interface module in flits of a size corresponding to the width of the output bus along with each validity indicator generated in association with the corresponding elementary flit. The receiving interface module receives flits constituting the message and the associated validity indicators and rejects a received flit if an elementary flit of the received flit is associated with a validity indicator in the invalid state.

  • Patent number: 9462606
Abstract: A system is provided for transmitting/receiving downlink resource allocation information in a communication system. In the system, a base station generates first information including downlink resource allocation information necessary for supporting a first mode supported by the base station, generates second information including length information of the first information, and transmits the first information and the second information. A mobile station notifies the base station of a second mode supported by the mobile station, receives, after the notification, the first information and the second information from the base station, and skips without decoding as much downlink resource allocation information as a length corresponding to the length information without decoding, if the first mode is different from the second mode.

  • Patent number: 9456357
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a network device and/or method for adaptive antenna pattern management for wireless local area networks. A network device comprising an adaptive antenna receives a coverage area description and a wireless coverage objective for a wireless network. The network device also scans a plurality of channels in a plurality of directions to detect signal levels from one or more other network devices in the wireless network. The network device can then coordinate wireless signal coverage with the one or more other network devices based at least on the coverage area description, the wireless coverage objective, and the detected signal levels. Specifically, the network device may accomplish such coordination by switching or reshaping the adaptive antenna patterns based on adaptive antenna patterns of other network devices in the wireless network.

  • Patent number: 9455921
Abstract: A device may manage end-to-end traffic across a network based on adjusting Quality of Service (QoS) parameters. The device may receive performance requirements for packets corresponding to different applications and QoS levels within segments across the network, and measure performance values along the segments across the network. The device may also identify the application data flows and their associated network locations failing to meet performance values across network segments, and detect an application data flow failing to meet end-to-end (E2E) performance requirements. The device may determine network location(s) to adjust the QoS parameters of the detected application data flow, and adjust its QoS parameters at the determined network location(s) to bring the detected application data flow into compliance with its E2E performance requirements, while maintaining E2E performances compliance of other application data flows.

  • Patent number: 9451504
Abstract: A processor-implemented method, apparatus, and/or computer program product move Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) layer 4 connections between wirelessly-connected user equipment to a series of cell-towers, wherein an OSI layer 4 connection is extracted out of the underlying cellular protocols at the series of cell-towers. A detection is made that user equipment, which has a broken-out layer 4 connection, has moved from a first cell-tower to a second cell-tower. Traffic for an existing layer 4 connection from the user equipment is tunnelled between the first cell-tower and the second cell-tower. A predetermined trigger event is identified. In response to the predetermined trigger event occurring, an ongoing bidirectional flow of data packets is migrated from the user equipment over to layer 4 connections maintained at the second cell-tower.

  • Patent number: 9445400
Abstract: A method and device for performing an Automatic Repeat Request (ARQ) procedure in a wireless communication environment are provided. An initiation of the ARQ reset procedure is triggered by one of a transmitting device and a receiving device. A sequence number corresponding to a start of an ARQ window is determined. The sequence number is a sequence number of a first ARQ block to be transmitted by the transmitting device upon completion of the ARQ reset procedure. An ARQ reset message indicating the determined sequence number is transmitted to the receiving device. Accordingly, first and second pointer values of the ARQ window at the receiving device is set to the sequence number in the ARQ reset message. An ARQ reset acknowledgement message is sent to the transmitting device. Moreover, first and second pointer values of the ARQ window at the transmitting device is set to the determined sequence number.

  • Patent number: 9444727
Abstract: In one embodiment, a source node monitors a quality of a primary link, and forwards one or more duplicate copies of a packet in response to poor quality of the primary link. Specifically, forwarding generally comprises transmitting a first copy of the packet on the primary link with an indication of duplicate copies, and transmitting a second copy of the packet on a backup link with an indication of duplicate copies. In another embodiment, an intermediate node receives a first copy of a packet with an indication of duplicate copies, and stores an identifier of the first copy of the packet in response to the indication. Upon receiving a second copy of the packet with the indication of duplicate copies, the node determines whether the identifier of the second copy matches the stored identifier of the first copy, such that in response to a match, the second copy is dropped.

  • Patent number: 9444570
Abstract: Reference signals (a.k.a., pilot signals) are broadcast to aid in at least channel estimation, cell selection, and handover. When a multi-antenna mode (i.e., MIMO) is used data signals on one antenna should not interfere with reference signals on another antenna. Reference signal resource elements (a.k.a., slots) being broadcast from one antenna are multiplied by a first Walsh code and the data (or reference) signal resource elements being broadcast from another antenna are multiplied by second Walsh code in the same family. Multiplication by Walsh codes reduces or eliminates the correlation between the data resource elements on a first antenna and the reference signal resource elements simultaneously broadcast on a second antenna.

  • Patent number: 9439073
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique for reporting the IP address of a UE using a response message to a device trigger. A control message receiving unit receives, from a network, a control message generated based on a trigger request message transmitted from the predetermined communication device for requesting the transmission of the control message to a communication terminal. A determining unit determines whether to perform communication with the predetermined communication device using an IP packet. A connection management unit acquires an IP address allocated to an IP connection used in communication with the predetermined communication device when determining to perform the communication using the IP packet at the time of receiving the control message at the control message receiving unit. A response message transmitting unit transmits a response message to the control message to the network, where the response message includes the IP address acquired by the connection management unit.
