  • Patent number: 6170142
Abstract: The unitary, hand held tool is comprised of a body portion having first and second ends. The body has a length dimension which is sufficient to span the distance between the centers of at least three outer link plates of a multi-link roller chain. The first and second fixed prongs emanate from, are integral with the body portion, and are preferably angled towards one another. The fixed prong adjacent to the first end of the body portion, and the second fixed prong adjacent to the second end of the body portion extend from the linear body portion in substantially the same plane. The prongs are dimensioned to fit into the openings between spaced apart rollers of a multi-link roller chain, and long enough to secure such spaced apart rollers when fit into such openings.

  • Patent number: 6164636
Abstract: A fixture supports and secures a printed circuit board ("PCB") during processing thereof. The fixture includes a frame for supporting the PCB and an attachable and entirely detachable bar or plate for securing the PCB in the fixture. A first opening is defined by the frame and is of sufficient dimensions to expose a first surface of the PCB. The plate defines a second opening, the second opening being of sufficient dimensions to expose a second surface of the PCB for processing. Spring-loaded latch assemblies connect the bar or plate to the frame at its ends or corners, respectively. The latch assemblies are simultaneously actuated by application of a slight pressure on the plate or bar. Simultaneous actuation of the latch assemblies ensures uniform application of pressure on the PCB, to avoid creation of a moment in the board. The latch assemblies do not require an operator's individual, repeated manipulation, but are actuated with a single application of slight pressure to the plate or bar.

  • Patent number: 6158730
Abstract: ABSTRACT A mechanical clamp for securing a workpiece according to the invention includes a clamp plate having an end for engaging a workpiece and a fulcrum spaced apart from said end. A pivotal handle is pivotally connected to said clamp plate by a connecting rod. A base plate is disposed intermediate the pivotal handle and includes a slot therethrough for receiving the connecting rod. The cam surface of the pivotal handle selectively engages the base plate to cause the clamping force at the end for engaging said workpiece. The fulcrum concentrates that clamping force at the end of the clamp plate.

  • Patent number: 6155546
Abstract: The present invention provides a tool for installing silt fences. The tool comprises a belt that is worn by a person installing silt fences. The belt comprises a leg harness that attaches to the installer's leg and a hook connected to the leg harness which can be attached, or hooked, around a stake. To install a silt fence, the installer first hammers the first stake of the silt fence into the ground. The installer then places the bottom end of the next adjacent stake of the fence into the ground at the appropriate location and distance away from the first stake. The installer then places the hook around the stake such that the hook passes through an opening between the stake and the fabric material. The installer then moves the leg positioned in the leg harness in a direction away from the stake to be installed, thereby causing the upper portion of the stake to be pulled in a direction away from the first stake, which causes the fence to be pulled tautly toward the installer.

  • Patent number: 6149146
Abstract: A system and method for securely clamping a target material that is to be manipulated using conventional machining techniques. The vise includes a single piece that includes a rigid jaw and a floating jaw that are integrally connected. The floating jaw is formed by a vertical and horizontal cut through a portion of the vise to enable the floating jaw to bend slightly in a hinge-like manner. A top portion of the rigid jaw and a top portion of the floating jaw are cut in a first pattern to form a working area. The size of the first pattern is approximately equal to the clamping surface of the target material. The size of the working area can be adjusted by securing devices that can expand the width of the working area to receive the target material and that can reduce the working area to securely clamp the target material. Additional cuts can be made in the vise to accommodate multiple target materials that can be secured independently.

  • Patent number: 6112624
Abstract: A rotary lever assembly for a wrench includes an elongated tubular coupler, which has a tongue of a polygonal cross-section that is adapted to engage fittingly a polygonal groove in a socket portion of a fastener-rotating element. A movable rod is mounted movably in the coupler, and is biased by a spring to an extended position, in which a ball projects partially from a hole in the tongue to engage a positioning cavity in the socket portion. In this way, the fastener-rotating element can rotate synchronously with the coupler of the rotary lever assembly. When the movable rod is pushed to a retracted position, a hole in the movable rod is aligned with the hole in the tongue. In this case, the socket portion can move on the tongue in view of the condition that the inner surface of the socket portion pushes the ball to retract entirely into the hole in the tongue.

  • Patent number: 6079702
Abstract: A mini-workbench made of a flat bar having a top surface and a bottom surface, a planar tab extending from said bottom surface and a tridental clamp mounted to the top surface for clamping the bar of a chain saw. The planar tab is insertable in a slot cut in a tree stump for retaining the flat bar to the tree stump. The tridental clamp is usable for retaining the saw bar to the flat bar, whereby the chain saw may be filed with ease, firmness and precision. In one aspect of the invention, the thickness of the planar tab is similar to a common chain saw kerf. • Patent number: 6073327
Abstract: A reusable plug device for providing sealing of an opening of a rim of a wheel for leak testing has a simple structure and facilitates installation/removal of the plug device using a simple insertion tool and a removal tool. The plug body has an axially extending cavity for receiving the insertion tool to enable the plug body to be inserted until a flange section of the plug body abuts the surface of the workpiece. The flange section serves as a stopper to indicate the stop position and ensures a uniform installation of the plug device in each workpiece. For removal of the plug body, the removal tool is inserted into the cavity and the removal tool is pushed in the insertion direction, so that the plug body and the flange section both collapse inward into the cavity to enable the plug device to be simply pushed out through the opening section.
