  • Patent number: 6254074
Abstract: The object of the present invention is a clamping device which comprises a first element and a second element which are arranged symmetrically, rotatably engaged and mutually constrained, and engagement means which are constrained firmly to the first element and envisaged to engage with the second element. The device is designed to operate from a resting position, in which the first element is in contact with the second element, and from a working position, in which the first element and the second element perform a clamping and constraining action on an object. In particular, both the first element and the second element are substantially made up, respectively, of a curvilinear part, designed to come into contact with the objects to be constrained, a straight central part and a flat end part. Furthermore, the engagement means comprise a spring engaged with a U-bolt and a chain which has a plurality of rings, each one of which being designed to hook onto the hooking means.

  • Patent number: 6249947
Abstract: A Mohs tapered handle remover enables a user to remove a bit by rotating a knob on a first end of the device to actuate the device. The knob, through a threaded interface, drives a slide rod outward. The slide rod causes a raising block to separate from a slide seat, thereby driving the bit out of the handle. The device enables the user to use rotational force instead of a direct force to remove the bit.

  • Patent number: 6247217
Abstract: A puller jaw positioning cam regulates the relative inclination of puller jaws on a puller assembly, typical to slide hammers. The cam has a first end and a second end. Extending through the cam from the first end to the second end is an attachment means for operating the cam about the shaft of a puller assembly. The first end of the cam provides a series of guide elements which communicate with the puller jaws. Rotation of the cam causes the inclination of the puller jaws to change relative to the shaft and each other.

  • Patent number: 6244568
Abstract: A rescue spreading tool having a hydraulic cylinder (20) that provides a spreading, crushing or cutting motion. A stationary yoke (28) is attached to the cylinder and a pair of spreader arms (32) are also pivotally attached and are free to rotate in opposed directions. A pusher cam yoke (46) is formed integrally with to the ram (22) within the cylinder and engages the arms, thus pushing them apart when the ram is extended which provides an initial cam action. A pair of toggle links (58) are attached on both the top and bottom of the arms and pusher cam yoke and continue to push the arms apart in an outward direction, thereby producing a secondary thrust after the initial cam action is completed which spreads the arms to a maximum distance. When the ram is retracted the links close the arms through the secondary mode by reversing the procedure and continue to pull the arms together during the returning initial action.

  • Patent number: 6241226
Abstract: The present invention relates to a vacuum system for reliably holding wafers exposed to effluents in a wafer chuck. A vacuum pump generates a vacuum communicated to a wafer chuck through a tank. The tank has a baffle for converting vapor effluent to liquid effluent from the air sucked into the vacuum system. The tank stores the liquid effluent to prevent the effluent from fouling the vacuum pump and other components. A pressure transducer is connected to the tank to detect a loss in vacuum that may indicate a lost wafer condition. A trap is placed between the tank and the vacuum pump to detect if excessive effluents have escaped from the tank and to signal that corrective action may need to be taken.

  • Patent number: 6237907
Abstract: A method and apparatus for machining a radius or diameter defined feature at locations on a workpiece that are not symmetrically with respect to the workpiece boundaries, wherein the method employs a simplified and precise set up process which assures exact feature location; and the apparatus for implementing the method employs a dual jawed adjustable workpiece holder formed as a highly versatile V-block device wherein the V-point may be precisely shifted in vernier increments along both X and Y axes responsive to user input controlled translations of one or both adjustable jaws along parallel axes. A baseline method employs determining first and second distances from a feature central axis and first and second boundary points on the workpiece , and then using a 90 degree technique to first adjust the workpiece holder in translation and then adjust an adjustable V-block jaw.

  • Patent number: 6234465
Abstract: An apparatus for clamping metal concrete forms. The clamping apparatus includes a clamp body (10) and wedge (20). The clamp body includes two opposed sides (16) and (18) that define a tapered slot for receiving the wedge therebetween. The clamp body also includes an opening or mouth (12) that is operative to receive one or more work pieces which may be clamped together with the apparatus. The wedge is operative to move between a first position and a second position with respect to the clamp body. As the wedge slides between the first and second position within the slot, a front upper surface (22) of the wedge is operative to urge the work pieces against a jaw surface (15) of the clamp body that bounds the upper portion of the mouth. Also as the wedge slides toward the second position, the upper side wall portions (34) and (36) of the wedge slide adjacent a narrower portion of the slot (28).

  • Patent number: 6220589
Abstract: A two-way dual action clamp for accurately clamping together two or more workpieces. The clamps are particularly useful in temporarily clamping together two European style wall cabinets prior to permanently joining the units together with a plurality of screws. Each clamp has two jaws, one L-shaped and one I-shaped which, when assembled form a U-shape. The jaws are manipulated by a hand operating screw so as to clamp together workpieces such as abutting sides of frameless cabinet units. A second hand operating screw carries a pressure plate and extends transversely through a threaded opening in the bight portion of the U-assembly. The pressure plate acts to bring edges of the cabinet units into flush relationship. The distal ends of the jaws are provided with spring actuated workpiece engaging and retaining cams which are spread apart to a limited extent when workpieces are inserted between them.
