  • Patent number: 6648313
Abstract: In an article and method for clamping a plurality of objects together, the article includes a body portion, comprised of spring wire, formed in a generally C-shape. The body portion comprises a pair of side portions, an intermediate portion extending between and interconnecting the pair of side portions, and a pair of opposed free end portions extending from the pair of side portions and opposite the intermediate portion and forming a gap therebetween. The pair of opposed free end portions are resiliently biased toward a position proximate each other and spaced apart to the extent of the gap therebetween. They are adapted to be expanded away from each other upon the exertion of expansion pressure, to extend about the plurality of objects to be clamped therebetween, and to return to the resiliently biased position to exert pressure on the plurality of objects therebetween upon the release of the expansion pressure.

  • Patent number: 6648314
Abstract: A clamp has a first clamping jaw support (2) which can be displaced along a slide bar (1) and fixed thereon by applying a tilting moment. The clamping jaw support has a first clamping jaw (3), certain areas of which lie at a distance from the slide bar (1) and a second clamping jaw support (4) which is located and substantially fixed in the area of one end of the slide bar. The second clamping jaw support has a second clamping jaw (5) which is located opposite the first clamping jaw (3) and which is displaced towards the first clamping jaw (3) when the clamping jaw support is impinged upon by an eccentric pressure element (6), located at the end of the slide bar. The second clamping jaw support (4) can be pivoted about a shaft (13) which fixes it to the slide bar (1). The eccentric pressure element (6) acts upon a pressure shoulder (7) of the second clamping jaw support (4) which obliquely crosses the slide bar (1).

  • Patent number: 6644627
Abstract: A tool for removing deck boards includes a base having a short shaft with a handle socket affixed thereto, and a pair of spaced prying arms connected to opposite ends of the shaft. The prying arms are spaced so they straddle a joist when the base member is placed on top of the joist. Each of the arms has a convex upper surface portion for engaging bottom surfaces of the boards, and the convex portion remains in contact with the center of the board as the board is pulled from the joist. The handle has a bend and may be rotated 180° with respect to the base member to achieve different effective handle angles.

  • Patent number: 6641115
Abstract: The present invention is a lifting system that can be used to construct cylindrical grain bins. It includes sets of identical, telescoping jacks actuated by hydraulic cylinders and an hydraulic system having separate hydraulic circuits that serve each set of jacks. The separate hydraulic circuits include identical pumps and control valves. The pumps and the control valves can be operated in unison to supply equal amounts of hydraulic fluid to the sets of jacks so that all of the jacks may be raised or lowered in unison. The lifting system can be used to uniformly lift successive rings of a grain bin structure made up of connected panels. After a first ring is lifted, a second ring can be attached to the lower edge of the first ring. The second ring is then lifted and the process is repeated until the grain bin is completed.

  • Patent number: 6629689
Abstract: The invention is concerned with a toggle clamp construction comprising an actuator cylinder including a linearly guided piston rod. The piston rod engages a header of the construction arranged on one end or the actuator cylinder where it is connected, via an adjusting mechanism, to a clamp arm pivotally located on the header. The header is provided with at least one engaging hole; an extension is disposed an the piston rod. For selectively fixing the opening angle which is to be taken by the clamp arm after opening the clamp mechanism, a support element for a stop is detachably inserted in the engaging hole. The said stop protrudes into the path of adjustment of the extension of the piston rod, thereby determining the opening angle.

  • Patent number: 6626423
Abstract: A combination for use with a vehicle jack constructed and arranged to affect raising and lowering movements of the vehicle. The combination comprises an elongated rigid jack operating tool and a longitudinal entry tool retainer. The tool retainer is fixedly mounted to the vehicle. The tool retainer has a tool receiving space and a resiliently movable tool engaging structure providing a tool engaging surface. The tool and the tool retainer enable the tool to be mounted to the tool retainer by moving the tool in the longitudinal direction into the tool receiving space. The tool contacts the tool engaging structure and urges the tool engaging structure against the resiliency thereof to accommodate ingress of the tool into the tool receiving space. The tool engaging structure thereafter forcibly engages the tool engaging surface against an exterior surface of the tool to frictionally inhibit movement of the tool in the longitudinal direction thereof.

  • Patent number: 6619646
Abstract: A housing (4) has a cylinder bore (10) into which an annular hydraulic piston (11) is inserted vertically movably. The piston (11) has a tubular bore (11a) into which a driven rod (6) is inserted. The driven rod (6) is provided with an input portion (6a), around which a plurality of transmission members (15) are arranged peripherally side by side. The transmission members (15) swing to a disengaging position (Y) through a push member (30) by a lowering spring (31). When clamping, the piston (11) is driven upwards. Then, first, a slant cam (27) swings the transmission members (15) to an engageable position (X), thereby enabling engaging portions (17) to face the input portion (6a). Next, the piston (11) upwardly drives the input portion (6a) through the engaging portions (17).
