  • Patent number: 10630934
Abstract: Systems and methods for selectively enabling enhanced high dynamic range (HDR) metadata for enhanced HDR playback of media content stored on a media disc are provided. Media discs may be authored with a base layer media content in accordance with a non-enhanced HDR media profile. Media discs may also include enhanced HDR metadata. In order to enable the use of the enhanced HDR metadata, a media player in which the media disc is inserted for playback may first seek authorization from a third-party resource, such as an authorization server. Only after obtaining authorization is the media player allowed to playback the media content stored on the media disc in conjunction with the enhanced HDR metadata. If authorization is not obtained, the media player may only play the base layer media content.

  • Patent number: 10623634
Abstract: Systems and methods may provide for capturing 360 degree video, and multi-resolution encoding, processing and displaying of the video based on a field of view (FOV) and region of interest (ROI) for a viewer. The ROI may be determined based on eye tracking information (ETI) and the video may be encoded for viewports within the FOV at a high resolution and for other viewports outside the FOV at a lower resolution. ROI in the video may be encoded at a high resolution and areas outside of the ROI may be encoded at a lower resolution. The ETI enables the selective display of one or more warnings based on the gaze of a user to improve the efficiency of the warning. 3D glasses having variable lens may be used to adjust the focal distance of a virtual display to match a virtual distance of an object based on stereo distance cues.

  • Patent number: 10602154
Abstract: A system for adapting various writing speeds of storage devices and methods for making and using same are provided. A recording device maintains a data buffer with a buffer size. Data recorded by the recording device with a selected recording bitrate is stored into the data buffer of the recording device. The recorded data is written from the data buffer into a selected storage device that is attached onto the recording device. An amount of recorded data stored in the data buffer is compared with two or more sets of thresholds, and the recording bitrate of the recording device can be adjusted, as needed, in response to the results of the comparison. By adjusting the recording bitrate, the recording device advantageously can accommodate storage devices with various speeds while maintaining the quality of the recorded data and maximizing the capacity of the storage device.

  • Patent number: 10586347
Abstract: An automated log scaling system and associated methods are disclosed. In the system and methods, one or more imagers may capture depictions of respective first ends and/or second ends of a plurality of logs, and use the captured depictions to scale the plurality of logs. A diameter value for each end of the log may be determined using the captured depictions. Relative location values for each captured end may be determined and used to form a length of each log. Information captured in the images is used to identify the type of tree or species of tree for each log. At least one of the diameter values may be multiplied by the determined log length, and the resulting product value may be compared to values in a log scaling chart to determine a value for the log. The value of multiple logs may be used to form a load of logs for distribution.

  • Patent number: 10565867
Abstract: Determining that a trailing vehicle is tailgating a lead vehicle while both are traveling on a lane of a road. A camera captures a timed sequence of image frames at known capture times of the lead vehicle and the trailing vehicle. Images of the trailing vehicle and the lead vehicle are selected from the captured image frames to provide respective image coordinates of the trailing vehicle and the lead vehicle. Multiple world space differential distances between the trailing vehicle and the lead vehicle are computed responsive to the image coordinates in the selected image frames. A tailgating metric responsive to the known capture times of the selected image frames and the computed world space differential distances is determined.
