  • Patent number: 5845524
Abstract: A lock assembly comprises a plunger reciprocally mounted in a support means, a spring for biasing the plunger in an unlock direction and for holding the plunger in an unlock position, the plunger being movable against the spring bias into a lock position, and link members for holding the plunger in the lock position. The assembly further includes a solenoid having a shaft adapted to operate the link members to release the plunger from the lock position to permit the plunger to be moved by the spring to the unlock position, and an entry console in electrical communication with the solenoid and operable to send an unlock signal to the solenoid upon entry of a selected entry signal.

  • Patent number: 5845519
Abstract: A padlock concept consisting of a novel shackle comprised of two tapered shackle elements arranged so that they overlay each other to enclose and opening sufficient to accept the staple of a hasp or attachment device. The shackle elements are connected at one end and when unlocked and unlatched are free to move apart, in a motion causing the two shackle elements to separate, providing a clearance between them, at the unconnected end. Each shackle element includes an opening to allow the staple of the hasp to pass to the common opening. This clearance occurs in opposing elements so that when the elements are brought together or closed the staple of the hasp is completely enclosed by the two shackle elements which substantially fill the space available within the hasp staple. The elements are then latched and locked to provide the security function of a padlock engaged with the staple of a hasp or attachment device.

  • Patent number: 5839301
Abstract: A combination lock including a housing, a dial assembly, a press plate, and a latch means. When the dials are turned to a preset code, a hook may be pulled upwardly to cause a hook projection to extend out of a seat notch so that a first shaft post brings the entire dial assembly to displace to one side due to a clearance between a hook notch and a hook neck portion, so that shaft notches engage wedge-shaped projections on the housing. When the hook is pressed downwardly, the hook projection enters the seat notch so that the first shaft post enters the hook notch to cause a spring to reset, bringing the entire dial assembly to displace to the other side so that the shaft notches disengage from the wedge-shaped projections to achieve locking.

  • Patent number: 5839305
Abstract: An electrically operable cylinder lock device includes a body with a bore housing a rotatable barrel, having a key slot. The barrel is locked in position normally by a spring-loaded bar which extends axially of the barrel and is movable radially thereof. A slot in the barrel receives the bar and cam formations in the slot act to lift the bar to a withdrawn position in which it can be held by an electromagnet. A plunger in the bore has a slotted end to receive the tip of the key and provides a driving connection between the key and an output cam.

  • Patent number: 5836185
Abstract: Two parts telescope so as to selectively engage the steering wheel at a portion of its rim. A third part independently telescopes relative to the first two parts so as to span a remaining portion of the diameter of the steering wheel, and so as engage the rim of the wheel at a point opposite to the portion where are located the first and second parts. One single key lock suffices to lock all telescoping parts in position, selectively engaging or releasing the device from the steering wheel at two points. The impediment presented by the locked device to turning the steering wheel is not subject to being defeated merely by cutting through either the steering wheel, or the device itself, at any single location.

  • Patent number: 5836256
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for moving an automatic teller machine and the like between a retracted position and an extended position to provide access to the back of the machine for servicing. The apparatus essentially comprises a stationary frame and a moving carriage supported by the frame. In the retracted position, the front end of the carriage is coextensive with the front end of the frame. In the extended position, however, the front end of the carriage is cantilevered beyond the front end of the frame. In order to move and support the carriage, especially in the extended position, there is a shaft freely rotatable in a pair of bearings at the front end of the frame on which the carriage rides. The back end of the carriage rides within the frame's rails, which prevent the carriage from moving up or down but otherwise freely allows lateral movement. By turning the shaft with a hand crank or a small motor, the carriage with the teller machine can easily be moved between retracted to extended positions.

  • Patent number: 5832762
Abstract: A U-lock keyway protector comprising a cylindrical tube mounted for rotation on a U-lock crossbar. The keyway protector generates enough friction against the crossbar to allow only manual rotation, and it provides a secure grip for ease in rotation. A keyway aperture allows access to the U-lock keyway when in an unprotective position and denies access when in a protective position. When the U-lock is engaged, a shackle leg extends through a shackle slot, preventing longitudinal movement of the keyway protector along the crossbar. A lip at the edge of the keyway protector limits the distance that the keyway protector can be slipped onto the crossbar and eliminates alignment problems.

  • Patent number: 5806439
Abstract: The present invention is a transport system for an automatic teller machine (ATM). The transport system comprises a motor-driven mechanism and a pair of bearing assemblies. The ATM is positioned within a housing and moves between a retracted position and an extended position by the operation of the motor-driven mechanism. The ATM is supported within the housing by a frame that has a chain attached to its side. A motor connected to the housing and having a motor-driven sprocket engages the chain, thus moving the ATM relative to the housing. An idler sprocket is also provided that is used to define the chain path so that multiple teeth of the motor-driven sprocket engage the chain. Each bearing assembly comprises a channel fixed to the base of the housing. A bearing comprising a block with a plurality of slots is positioned within the interior of the channel.
