    Abstract: A fiber spinning device and process for manufacturing a web of fibers in the nature of a homogeneous mixture of fibers of different characteristics. Monocomponent fibers of different polymers can be extruded side-by-side from the same die system. Sheath/core bicomponent fibers can be alternated with monocomponent fibers formed of the same core polymer as used in the bicomponent fibers. Bicomponent fibers having a common core polymer and different sheath polymers can be extruded from alternate spinneret orifices in the same die plate. Multiple distribution plates are provided with surface grooves or depressions to direct polymer materials from independent sources to only selected spinneret openings in an array of spinneret openings while maintaining the polymers segregated from each other.

    Abstract: A dirt collecting system for a vacuum cleaner includes a dirt cup formed with a first dirt collecting chamber and a second dirt collecting chamber separated by an apertured wall. An inlet opening is formed in the dirt cup and communicates with the first dirt collecting chamber for inputting a stream of dirt laden air into the first dirt collecting chamber. An exhaust opening is formed in the second dirt collecting chamber for allowing the filtered air stream to exit the dirt cup. The aperture wall includes a pre-filter for filtering coarse particles from a stream of dirt laden air and depositing the coarse particles in the first dirt collecting chamber. A filter member is positioned within the second dirt collecting chamber and communicates with the exhaust port. The filter element filters fine particles from the air stream and deposits the fine particles within the second dirt collecting chamber.

    Abstract: There is disclosed a swimming pool skimmer basket handle capable of being attached to a swimming pool skimmer basket, in which the handle has a column that positions a grip of the handle above the top of the skimmer basket when the handle is attached to the skimmer basket. The column of the handle also positions the grip of the handle above the top of the water level in a skimmer well when the handle is attached to the skimmer basket and the skimmer basket is located within the skimmer well. The improved accessibility of the grip of the handle significantly minimizes the unpleasantness associated with removing and cleaning a swimming pool skimmer basket. There is also disclosed an improved reversible weight for a skimmer basket. The reversible weight is capable of being attached to a skimmer basket in two configurations. A number of alternate embodiments of the invention are also disclosed.

This device has a housing having a treatment chamber defined therein, an inlet port for receiving an exhaust gas to be treated, and an outlet port for releasing a treated gas. The gas is allowed to flow in the treatment chamber from the inlet port to the outlet port defining a flowing direction. The device further has treating elements in the treatment chamber which are layers of rocks of granite alternating with layers of rocks of charcoal. The layers extend substantially in perpendicular to the flowing direction of the gas.

    Abstract: In order to regenerate the heat exchanger material located in the various segments of a housing section (2) of a regenerative post-combustion device (1), fresh air is fed via the flushing air connection (11) into the combustion chamber (8) of this post-combustion device (1), is heated there by a burner (9), and is fed to the rotary distributor (5) via a segment of the heat exchanger material. Heated air which, when passing through the heat exchanger material has picked up contaminants deposited thereon is fed to the inlet or outlet connection (4, 10) of the post-combustion device (1) via the rotary distributor (5) and, from there, is introduced once again into the combustion chamber (8). The rotary distributor (5) of the thermal post-combustion device (1) stops during this process which is continued until the heat exchanger material is heated to a temperature at which the contaminants absorbed by the heat exchanger material are released and combusted in the combustion chamber (8).

    Abstract: An air filtering enclosure for a vehicle to minimize the amount of debris entering the radiator of the vehicle is provided. The enclosure forms a shell having a set of interfitting interior and exterior members. Mounted with the interior member are clips designed to mate with a series of compatibly arranged brackets on the vehicle frame. Attached opposite the clips are handles which a user may grasp to easily install and remove the shell from a vehicle. Interior and exterior members form a frame which encases sheets of perforated screening to restrict the introduction of debris into the radiator. The shell is completed with a rubber seal enabling tight sealing of the enclosure to the vehicle on which it is attached.

    Abstract: An aquarium filter system comprising a pump, a manually positionable valve assembly, and one or a plurality of interchangeable filter cartridges. The filter cartridges are interchangeable and replaceable without the need to suspend water flow. The filter cartridges may be readily repositioned relative to their location from the pump. In method form, a method of changing filter cartridges in an aquarium filter is disclosed. The method comprises supplying a pump and pumping water to provide a continuous flow of water from the aquarium to one or a plurality of removable filter cartridges. This is followed by isolating any one or plurality of the filter cartridges from the flow of water and replacing any one or plurality of filter cartridges with one or a plurality of unused filter cartridges. This is all accomplished under conditions such that the continuous flow of water is uninterrupted.
