  • Patent number: 4205776
Abstract: An annular series of interconnected rectangular and parallelepiped-shaped folding boxes. The series includes eight interlinked parallelepipeds in two detachable sets of four successive parallelepipeds each. Individual and pairs of successive parallelepipeds are connected one to another by a flexible joint in a hinge-like manner, along mutually adjacent and equal side edges thereof. The flexible joint includes an additional wall strip disposed between mutually adjacent and equal side edges of adjoining successive parallelepipeds for interconnecting therebetween. The wall strip has a width of approximately three to five times the thickness of the cardboard material.

  • Patent number: 4205777
Abstract: An eggbox, which is a one-piece moulding of plastics sheet material, comprises a base part having egg-receiving pockets and a cover part having corresponding pockets hinged together along mutually adjacent rims so that the cover part can be folded over the base part to close the latter. In the closed position, the parts are fastened together at their rims opposite the hinge by cooperating studs and slots formed respectively on the two parts. The slots are of key-hole shape and, when the cover part is closed, the studs initially engage in the wider portions of the slots and are urged into engagement with the narrower portions by the inherent resiliency of the parts in order to fasten the parts together. A second set of cooperating studs and slots, which interengage in the manner of press-stud fasteners, are formed centrally of the base and cover parts in order to assist in fastening the parts together.

  • Patent number: 4201331
Abstract: A butterfly carton made from a single blank with an auto-erecting lock bottom, and a recloseable top portion including an attractive butterfly wing shaped design. The butterfly carton is of a knock-down variety which can be shipped in a flattened configuration and is further provided with an auto-erecting lock bottom to facilitate erection of the carton. The carton is provided with movable triangular shaped locking portions, pivotally connected to the top of the carton, which are interengaged with V-shaped slots provided in the side wall of the carton, to securely lock the carton in the closed condition. The top portion of the carton is also provided with butterfly wing shaped tabs which are interengaged to provide secondary locking of the carton. In addition, the butterfly wing shaped tabs are maintained at an angle relative to the top of the carton to create an aesthetically pleasing design.

  • Patent number: 4201301
Abstract: Container for the transport and consumption of pizza and food in general, consisting of a cover equipped with a small peripheral step (5) of same cover under the upper level (7) of the rim (8); this step is interrupted at constant angular intervals by niches (9) tapered towards the bottom, which end at the bottom of the container; these niches are intercalated with analogous niches (14) of inferior depth compared to that of the niches (9), limited by the level (13) and of such dimensions that they consent the outer walls of the niches (9) to fit into the inner part of the niches (14): the step (5) and the niches (9, 14) are protruding towards the outside compared with the walls (4) of the cover.Once arranged the food at the inside of the container, it is possible to place a lid (17) on it, the projections (18) of which come to lean on the bottom levels (13) of the niches (14), or it is possible to place another container on it, resting the bottom of the niches (9) on the levels (13) a.s.o.

  • Patent number: 4200221
Abstract: A blank 10 for the folding of a filp-top cigarette box includes laterally successive surface areas defining a first side wall 16, a front wall 17, a second side wall 18 and a back wall 19 of a main box portion 11. The front and side wall portions 21, 22, 23 of the lid 12 initially lie at an angle above the main box walls, and are connected at one end at a pivot point 42 and at the other end by a bridging portion 41 of a glue strip 20. The space provided by the angling is occupied by a trapezoidal lid reinforcing flap 35 flanked by intermediate punch-out elements 37, 38. During an initial processing step the lid portions are rotated in the plane of the blank about the pivot point and the bridging portion is double folded, to thus bring the lid and main box portions into abutment. Adjacent lines of longitudinally reversed and displaced blanks are laid out on a strip of packaging material with the trapezoidal projections and recesses of their edges interleaved, to thus minimize material waste.

  • Patent number: 4197985
Abstract: A dispensing carton made from a single blank which is capable of being formed, filled and sealed on automatic equipment. The dispensing carton is made tamperproof by providing for a cover tab, which must be removed from the carton before a slidable closure section can be displaced to open the carton. The removal of the cover tab permanently alters the appearance of the carton which acts as a deterrent to tampering. The dispensing carton further provides a slidable closure section rupturably connected to the carton, which requires no hinge connection to the carton after its initial use. The slidable closure section is further provided with a locking flange which cooperates with a cut line in the carton to control the longitudinal displacement of the closure section.

  • Patent number: 4197981
Abstract: A self-locking, reclosable carton includes a rectangular floor panel and rectangular side wall panels extending vertically from opposite side edges of the floor panel. Each of the side wall panels includes two inner edge panels which are folded inwardly at the ends of the floor panel. The floor panel has outer end panels which are locked in slightly spaced relationship to the inner end panels by means of tab members which can be forced through narrow openings at the edges of the inner end panels. A cover assembly inclues cover panels extending inwardly from the upper edges of the side wall panels. Each of the cover panels includes cover flaps at the ends which can be inserted into the space between the outer end panel and the inner end panels and held there by frictional engagement to keep the carton closed.

  • Patent number: 4196843
Abstract: A self-locking, tamper-proof container is made of a paperboard material, and includes a tubular body portion, and a cooperating cover portion. The tubular body portion has a generally rectangular planar base portion, and a side wall formed of two opposed pairs of upstanding panel members. Two locking flaps are respectively hingedly connected to one pair of opposed upstanding panel members, with each locking flap being disposed on the outside surface of the associated panel member and extending downwardly. The cover member is of slightly large plan area than the base portion of the tubular body, and two opposed upstanding panels thereof are formed by side panels and folded-under elongated tab portions. Each tab portion has a U-shaped cut-out such that in the erected condition of the cover member, two locking pockets are disposed on the inside surface of the two opposed upstanding panels.

  • Patent number: 4194677
Abstract: A pour spout for a carton is formed from the carton material in two superimposed panels. The outermost panel has an opening and a tab member, the first end of which is connected to the remainder of the panel at a fold line. The second or opposite end of the tab member is part of the perimeter of the opening. The first and second ends of the tab member are defined by parallel rows of perforations. The inner panel includes a tab member which is aligned with the first tab member. A pair of wing members extend from fold lines at opposite side edges of the inner tab member. The wing members may have an arcuate edge and may include a projection which will limit pivotal movement of the spout formed by the tab members and wing members. The superimposed panels may be overlapping side panels, overlapping top panels, or a combination of side panels and top panels having extensions which overlap the side panels. In one embodiment, a separate insert serves as the innermost panel.

  • Patent number: 4194675
Abstract: Interlocked partition strips are shown and described wherein each strip has a number of spaced parallel slots which divide the strip into segments or sections. All but one end segment have lock tab projections near one edge extending into the slots in one direction. Also, the one end segment and all other segments but the remaining end segment have lock tab projections spaced inwardly from such one edge, the latter projections extending through the slots in the same direction, but opposite to the direction in which the projections adjacent the edge extend. Thus, each slot has two spaced, oppositely directed lock tabs extending through it. At the opposite edge of each strip are spaced tab receiving openings to be interfitted with lock tab projections of a transverse strip.
