  • Patent number: 9699680
Abstract: A wireless local area network (WLAN) includes a server and receiver, which includes a radio frequency (RF) front-end circuit that receives wireless signals from the mobile nodes within the WLAN and detects baseband signals. A signal waveform detector edge detects a signal waveform and generates a trigger signal indicative of the modulation type, data format and time-of-arrival (TOA) information of a desired signal to be captured. A baseband processor receives the trigger signal from the signal waveform detector and captures the desired signal. A system controller is connected to the baseband processor and configures the baseband processor for processing the desired signal and obtaining message data and signal metrics that are transferred to the system controller to be communicated outbound from the receiver as a client to the server.

  • Patent number: 9674080
Abstract: A method for managing a chain of service appliances. A method for interoperating with a legacy service appliance which does not understand/interpret the service chain header format. The method specifies a proxy device which receives a data packet with chain header that contains a chain ID. The chain ID identifies a particular service chain of network services to be performed on the data packet by a plurality of service appliances. The method removes a chain header from the data packet. The method sends the data packet to the service appliance via a logical port that corresponds to the data packet's chain ID. The method includes receiving the data packet back from the service appliance via the logical port. Lastly, the method includes restoring the chain header in the data packet based upon the logical port through which the data packet is received.

  • Patent number: 9654965
Abstract: A wireless device may be subject to regulations based on the location (e.g. country). Accordingly, the wireless device may need to identify regulations for its current location. A lookup table or database that includes regulations for different locations may be used for identifying the regulations for the current location of the wireless device. The lookup table may be stored locally on the wireless device or retrieved over a network. The identified regulations may be used to modify certain operating parameters of the wireless device to comply with the local regulations and determine whether or not to associate with an incorrectly configured Access Point.

  • Patent number: 9641987
Abstract: To ensure that multicasts from access points sent in response to periodic beacons reach a variety of listening clients that may have longer sleep intervals than an interval between beacons, this disclosure describes systems, methods, and apparatus for multicasting bursts of frames where a burst number is selected so as to be equal to or greater than a range of common sleep intervals. Further, where multicast frames are re-multicast according to known protocols, the repeated bursts can be offset from the re-multicast start time suggested by the protocol, in order to increase a likelihood that clients with especially long sleep intervals receive the multicast frame.

  • Patent number: 9635586
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a system and method for using call admission control for client balancing. Specifically, a network device receives a message from a first access point in a network indicating that the first access point has rejected a call request received by the first access point from a particular client device. The particular client device is associated with the first access point. Moreover, the network device selects a second access point that is located in a radio frequency neighborhood of the particular client device. Further, the network device determines that the second access point has capacity to accept the call request from the particular client device, and steers the client device to associate with the second access point.

  • Patent number: 9634783
Abstract: A serial packet sync encoder is used to encode a serial packet sync datastream. In an embodiment, the serial packet sync datastream is made up of the packet sync vector and a unique preamble bit sequence that is preselected. In another embodiment, the serial packet sync datastream is made up of a non-unique bit sequence. A serial packet sync transmitter is used to transmit the serial packet sync datastream. A serial packet sync receiver is provided for receiving the serial packet sync datastream. In an embodiment, the serial packet sync transmitter and the serial packet sync receiver are shift registers. In this way, the serial packet sync datastream can be transmitted and received using only a single pin. The serial packet sync datastream is useful for providing an indication that an event, such as a grant arrival, has occurred. A preamble comparator is provided to compare the received serial packet sync datastream and the preselected preamble to determine if the two match.

  • Patent number: 9603129
Abstract: A method and apparatus for requesting and allocating bandwidth in a broadband wireless communication system. The method and apparatus includes a combination of techniques that allow a plurality of CPEs to communicate their bandwidth request messages to respective base stations. One technique includes a “polling” method whereby a base station polls CPEs individually or in groups and allocates bandwidth specifically for the purpose of allowing the CPEs to respond with bandwidth requests. The polling of the CPEs by the base station may be in response to a CPE setting a “poll-me bit” or, alternatively, it may be periodic. Another technique comprises “piggybacking” bandwidth requests on bandwidth already allocated to a CPE. Currently active CPEs request bandwidth using unused portions of uplink bandwidth that is already allocated to the CPE. The CPE is responsible for distributing the allocated uplink bandwidth in a manner that accommodates the services provided by the CPE.
