Abstract: A guide wire assembly for the support of electrical cabling that extends from an electrical source point, such as an electrical pole, to a use location. The guide wire assembly includes a housing having a base end, an extended end and a longitudinal passage extending between the base end and extended end; an insert constructed and arranged for positioning within the longitudinal passage and having a center bore; a threaded rod having proximal and distal rod ends, the distal end of the threaded rod mating with the center bore of the insert; a coil spring disposed within the longitudinal passage of the housing and about the insert; a first attachment mechanism supported at the proximal end of the threaded rod and for support of a guide wire; and a second attachment mechanism supported at the base end of the housing.

Abstract: In-wall mountable housings include a back, top, bottom and laterally opposing first and second sidewalls that form an interior compartment. The sidewalls, top and bottom terminate at a front of the housing. The housing also includes first and second tabs attached to each of the first and second sidewalls. The first and the second tabs have one side that is integrally attached to the first or second sidewalls and three sides that are detached or detachable therefrom so that the first and second tabs can pivot outward to be perpendicular to the sidewalls. When not used, the tabs are flush with the sidewalls or angle inward into the housing. The first tab pivots outward to be spaced apart a first defined distance from the front of the housing and the second tab pivots outward to be spaced apart a second defined distance from the front of the housing.

Abstract: A floor box assembly includes a floor box and at least one retainer coupled to the floor box. The floor box includes an outer wall extending along a longitudinal axis, and the outer wall includes a first end and a second end. The first end is configured to be coupled to an electrical receptacle. The floor box is configured to receive at least one cable in electrical communication with the receptacle. The at least one retainer permits the floor box to be inserted into a hole in a first direction along the longitudinal axis and secures the floor box against movement in a second direction opposite the first direction.

Abstract: A cable connector is provided for coupling to and mounted within the internal cavity of an electrical box for securing an electrical cable passing through an opening in the electrical box. The cable connector includes a body having a first end positioned next to or adjacent the cable opening in the electrical box and a second end spaced from the first end and the cable opening. At least one and typically two retaining members are spring biased from the first end of the body and extend into a cable passage of the body toward the second end. A front wall is provided at the second end of the body with an opening for receiving the wires and forming a stop member to prevent the armor sheathing from passing through the front wall.

Abstract: A brace assembly is provided having a brace for mounting to a support and a hanger member. The hanger member is coupled to the brace by a bar positioned in a longitudinal slot in the bottom side of the brace. The bar enables the hanger member to slide along the length of the brace. The hanger member has a bottom wall and side walls with a top end for coupling to a support. A mounting bracket is removably coupled to the hanger member for supporting the brace.

Abstract: A grommet includes a bellows portion and a movable-member-side fitting portion connected with an end of the bellows portion. The movable-member-side fitting portion has an outer surface connected with the bellows portion and an inner surface formed on the opposite side of the outer surface. On the outer surface, the bellows portion is connected to the movable-member-side fitting portion with unequal distances from an axial center of the bellows portion to the outer edge of the movable-member-side fitting portion. Furthermore, on the outer surface, a first outer rib is formed that extends along a direction having a maximum distance from the axial center to the outer edge with an outer peripheral surface of the bellows portion serving as its base.

Abstract: A window assembly is for an enclosure. The enclosure has a plurality of walls. The window assembly includes a cover member structured to be coupled to each of the plurality of walls in order to form an enclosed region; a window member coupled to the cover member; a frame member coupled to the cover member; and a number of stud members each secured to the frame member and extending through the cover member. The cover member is located between the frame member and the window member.

Abstract: An energized parts guard is disclosed which includes a panel of substantially rigid, electrically insulative material wherein the substantially rigid panel further includes a first one or more apertures and a second one or more apertures. The first one or more apertures are so dimensioned to accept one or more circuit breakers inserted into the first one or more apertures such that there is less than a 12.5 mm gap between the panel and the circuit breaker on at least two sides of the one or more circuit breakers. The second one or more apertures are positioned to facilitate access to at least one terminal of each of the one or more circuit breakers when the one or more circuit breakers are inserted into the first one or more apertures.

Abstract: An electrical box assembly includes an outer box having a sidewall and a front opening. A sleeve having an inner surface is received in the front opening of the outer box and selectively extendable in respect of the outer box. A mounting plate is disposed on the inner surface of the sleeve. The mounting plate cooperates with the sleeve to selectively position the sleeve in respect of the outer box.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a bus bar comprising a bar manufactured from a material that has a density of less than or equal to 2.70 grams per cubic centimeter; where the bar comprises a plurality of holes for facilitating contact between the bus bar and a grounding attachment. Disclosed herein too is a method comprising affixing one or more grounding attachments to a bus bar, where the bus bar comprises a bar manufactured from a material that has a density of less than or equal to 2.70 grams per cubic centimeter; where the bar comprises a plurality of holes for facilitating contact between the bus bar and a grounding attachment; and affixing the bus bar to the frame of an automobile.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for assembling and installing an outlet cover for an electrical outlet box. The apparatus includes a base having a rectangular mounting aperture for aperture adapter assemblies. To create the desired cover plate, the appropriate aperture adapters has to be selected and assembled to accommodate the desired standard electrical outlet such as a light switch or socket. A cover is hinged to the base by fitting hinge members on both parts together and thus enables the cover to swing forwardly and backwardly against the base. A planar lever and serrated bar is present on one side wall of the base, which is orthogonal with respect to the hinge axis. By retaining the planar lever at different serration on the serrated bar, the planar lever can hold cover at different height and thus adjusts cover plate assembly openings to accommodate various cord sizes.

Abstract: A connector is used for terminating an electrical cable, such as a metal clad cable, cord grip, and tray cable, and provides a compression fitting to secure and ground the cable. The connector includes a connector body, a compression nut, and a compression grommet retained therebetween. A gripping member and/or a grounding member is embedded within the grommet for creating a mechanical grip with the cable and providing a grounding pathway, respectively. Tightening the compression nut to the connector body correspondingly compresses the grommet to create a watertight seal with the cable so that no fluid, dirt or debris can pass through the connector. Such tightening also urges the gripping member to form a mechanical grip with the cable for securing the cable and maintaining the watertight seal.

Abstract: A floor box for housing electrical components includes a bottom and a plurality of walls extending from the bottom to at least partially define an interior and to at least partially define a central opening accessible to a user. A top plate having an inner portion at least partially defining a first wiring compartment facing the central opening and a second wiring compartment facing the central opening is connected to at least one of the plurality of walls.

Abstract: A safety cover system for a household electrical switch or outlet is provided. A wall plate is provided having an aperture for an electrical device such as an outlet or switch. The wall plate has a rim with upper and lower locking lips. A cover plate is provided that is pivotally connected to the wall plate by hinges for covering the wall plate. There is provided upper, lower and side release mechanisms. Each release mechanism includes a release button with a portion of the release button exposed to an exterior of the cover plate through an aperture in the cover plate. The release also includes a latch connected with the button having an arm overlapping the wall plate rim lip to prevent the cover plate from being pivoted open from the wall plate.

Abstract: An electrical box assembly which includes a horizontally extending support member having a horizontally disposed top wall, a vertically disposed back wall, and a horizontally disposed bottom wall. A front cover is secured to the forward ends of the top and bottom walls. The front cover has one or more electrical receptacle openings formed therein which have electrical receptacles mounted therein. A first side cover closes one end of the support member and a second side cover closes the other end of the support member.

Abstract: A grommet includes a grommet body having a cylindrical shape for passing through a wire therein and configured to be inserted and locked to a through hole formed in a sheet member and a cylindrical body provided on the grommet body and configured to branch the wire passed through the grommet body in at least two directions. The cylindrical body is provided with an easily bendable part at an inside of a bent part thereof, the easily bendable part suppressing swell of the inside of the bent part, when the cylindrical body is bent in a direction of bending a cylinder axis of the cylindrical body.

Abstract: An electrical junction box including an upper case half having at least a first upper cable passage port, the upper case half opening forwardly and being rearwardly chamfered; a lower case half having at least a first lower cable passage port, the lower case half opening forwardly and being rearwardly chamfered; and a pair of hingedly attached pivot arms connected operatively to the upper and lower case halves, the pivot arms being adapted for facilitating movements of the upper case half between recessed and wire receiving positions, the upper case half overlying the lower case half upon movement to the recessed position, and the upper case half displacing forwardly from the recessed position upon movement toward the wire receiving position.

Abstract: A connector assembly including a connector body with a spring clip including a first free end for engaging a side wall of an electrical box upon installation. During insertion of the connector body the first free end is deformed so as to permit further insertion. Once the connector body is fully inserted, the spring clip cooperates with a lug on the connector body to hold the connector assembly onto the electrical box.

Abstract: A tubular outer member which houses and protects a conductive path, the tubular outer member includes a fixing member mounting portion in which a conductive path fixing member is to be mounted so as to fix the conductive path. The fixing member mounting portion includes a guide groove configured to guide a conductive path winding portion of the conductive path fixing member extending like a line or a belt, and a pair of lead-in/out portions. The conductive path winding portion is to be inserted to and pulled out from the pair of lead-in/out portions.

Abstract: A cover assembly for a floor box includes a base and a cover. The base defines a central opening for accessing the floor box. The cover is moveable with respect to the base and is sized to close the central opening. A hinge body is connected to the cover and pivotally connected to the base. A hinge pin is connected to the hinge body through an interference fit and connected to the base. A cord access opening is provided in the cover. An access door is connected to the cover and moveable between an open position and a closed position. A biasing member applies a force against the access door to retain the access door in a desired position.
