Abstract: A synchronization device for synchronizing data associated with a vehicle test is presented. The synchronization device may include signal-generating circuitry configured to generate a signal and provide the signal to at least one output device associated with a vehicle so as to allow a data collection device to receive the signal from the at least one output device. The synchronization device may also include first additional circuitry configured to prevent the data collection device from receiving the signal based on whether a test associated with the vehicle has started. At least one of the providing of the signal to the at least one output device or the preventing of the data collection device from receiving the signal may indicate a start of the test and may allow data collected by the data collection device to be synchronized with other collected data.

  • Patent number: 9693194
Abstract: Determining a location of a user device comprises a wireless computing system supported by an access point. The wireless computing system receives a signal from the user device. The system estimates a location of the user device based on RSSI and calculates a boundary around the estimated location. The wireless computing system selects a plurality of sections inside of the boundary and performs a coarse calculation of a location of the user device based on an angle of arrival of the received signal. The system determines sections of the plurality of sections that have results from the coarse calculation that are more likely to be a location of the user device. The system performs a fine calculation of the location based on the angle of arrival of the received signal within each of the sections. The system identifies a particular section as the location of the user device.

  • Patent number: 9686412
Abstract: Systems and methods for an offline voicemail recording system are provided. A voicemail server establishes a session with a caller responsive to detecting the unavailability of a callee. Session information is transmitted to the caller and the voicemail server then purposely terminates the session with the caller. The caller can record a voice or video message offline, without an active connection to the voicemail server, and later upload the recorded message. The voicemail server correlates the uploaded message with the previously terminated session and notifies the callee of the receipt of the message.

  • Patent number: 9668192
Abstract: A first network node has first antenna nodes located along a track and associated with a first cell. Some of them serve a first cell overlap region that overlaps a second cell overlap region of second antenna nodes connected to a second network node. Some first antenna nodes form downlink beams in a same direction with power levels controlled such that respective amounts of overlap between the downlink beams and respective power levels of the downlink beams jointly cause the first cell's overlap region to emulate a cell border for a user equipment travelling at high speed. Emulated cell border signal power is lower at locations closer to an emulated cell outer edge than at more distant locations. Emulated cell border length is sufficient to cause the travelling user equipment to be within the emulated cell border long enough to successfully perform a handover between the first and second cells.

  • Patent number: 9655010
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method for mobility management at a network management center. The method comprises indicating a target access node to a terminal device being served by a source access node, in response to determining that the terminal device needs to be handed over to the target access node. The method also comprises transmitting network-related context information of the terminal device to the target access node that receives terminal-related context information of the terminal device from the terminal device. By virtue of this method, the access node may be made with a simple and low cost structure; deployment of access nodes may be more flexible and handover of the terminal device may be more efficient.

  • Patent number: 9641984
Abstract: Techniques are discussed for supporting positioning with ambiguous wireless cells. An ambiguous cell may employ a Distributed Antenna System (DAS), one or more Remote Radio Heads (RRHs), repeaters or relays, or may broadcast the same Positioning Reference Signal (PRS) as another nearby cell. In example techniques, measurements of a radio source in an ambiguous cell (e.g. a DAS antenna element or RRH) may be used to identify the measured radio source. The measurements may be for the Observed Time Difference of Arrival (OTDOA) position method or the Enhanced Cell ID (ECID) position method. The determination of the measured radio source for an ambiguous cell may be used to improve a location estimate for a user equipment (UE).

  • Patent number: 9642099
Abstract: A transmit power control rule for device-to-device (D2D) transmissions may not be necessary during periods in which no uplink transmissions are scheduled to be received by an enhanced Node B base station (eNB). When uplink transmissions are not scheduled to be received by the eNB, the eNB may send a transmit power control (TPC) command to a D2D capable user equipment (D2D UE) that instructs the D2D UE to perform a D2D transmission at a pre-defined transmit power level (e.g., maximum transmit power level). When uplink transmissions are scheduled to be received the eNB, the eNB may send a TPC command to the D2D UE that instructs the D2D UE to perform a D2D transmission at a transmit power level defined by a power control rule.

  • Patent number: 9635026
Abstract: A system for verifying an association between an application and a mobile computing device. The application is identified by an application instance identifier, which uniquely identifies the instance of the application on the mobile computing device. The system receives a request to verify the application, including the application instance identifier. The system also obtains a mobile device identifier used to communicate with the mobile computing device. The system initiates one or more telephone call setup messages, which signal a voice call request, to the mobile computing device using the mobile device identifier. Based on receiving an indication that the one or more telephone call setup messages were detected at the mobile computing device, the system associates the application instance identifier with the mobile device identifier.
