Patent number: 5568673Abstract: A means for the vertical or height adjustment of folding doors comprises a pivot pin assembly utilizing a threaded adjustment bolt with a separate, unthreaded pivot pin. The bolt is threaded into the sleeve above the pivot pin. A lower interior portion of the sleeve includes a polygonal interior cross-section which matches the head of the pin and prevents the pin from rotating. The pivot pin may be held within the sleeve during shipment and installation by a friction fit with a cap positioned in the bottom of the sleeve, or instead a spring may be used between the pivot pin and cap to urge the pin upwardly. Rotation of the bolt vertically adjusts the pin.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 1994Date of Patent: October 29, 1996Assignee: Arthur Cox & Sons, Inc.Inventor: William F. Ryczek

Patent number: 5557828Abstract: A U-shaped hinge element used to pivotally mount a door to a cover dead front of an enclosure for circuit breaker handles of a load center. The hinge element has spaced-apart wall members, and is characterized by having a projection formed out of the surface of a first wall member which positively engages a back surface of the cover dead front to partially retain the one wall member when the hinge element is initially inserted into the cover dead front and by having laterally opposed, bendable tab means formed out of the surface of a second wall member which are manually bent after the hinge element is inserted into the dead front cover. Converging slots are formed in the second wall member to form the bendable tab means, and the hinge element is made of stainless steel.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 1995Date of Patent: September 24, 1996Assignee: Eaton CorporationInventors: Richard A. Patent number: 5557825Abstract: A door retainer mechanism on a padmounted switchgear cabinet includes a pair of elongated links coupled between an access door and housing of the cabinet. The links are pivotally connected respectively to the access door and housing and also pivotally connected to one another. The links are pivotable relative to each other between folded and unfolded conditions with respect to one another as the access door is moved between closed and opened positions relative to the cabinet housing. The links are operable automatically to latch with one another in the unfolded condition upon the access door reaching the opened position after being moved by a worker from the closed position relative to the cabinet housing. The links of the door retainer mechanism, once they have reached the unfolded condition and become latched with one another, function to retain the access door in the opened position and prevent the access door from returning to the closed position.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 1994Date of Patent: September 24, 1996Assignee: Hubbell IncorporatedInventor: Deborah L. Patent number: 5555763Abstract: In front of a bending machine is arranged a unit of a 5-axis control robot provided with a work hand at an end thereof, for loading work to the bending machine and unloading a bent work from the bending machine. A single-work taking-up device takes up only a single work from stacked works. Therefore, the work loading and unloading device is low in cost and requires a short program preparation and teaching (setup) time. The work loading and unloading device may be moved to any desired position and is provided with a work hand having a double-work take-up detecting device and an upper hand accessible to a bent work without interference with the punch.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1994Date of Patent: September 17, 1996Assignee: Amada Metrecs Company, LimitedInventor: Kazunori Takeshita

Patent number: 5547238Abstract: A portable doorstop is formed to a circular disk configuration so that the doorstop disk enjoys a stable positionment on the floor surface. The disk upper surface includes a conical surface portion centered on the disk central axis for wedge fit interaction with the lower edge of a door. The disk can be placed in any desired position in the path of the door because the conical surface achieves a wedge fit with the door no matter which area of the conical surface comes into contact with the door lower edge.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 1994Date of Patent: August 20, 1996Inventor: Richard Payette

Patent number: 5546632Abstract: A shear viscous damped hinge uses a negator spring and a high viscosity fluid to provide a relatively slow and controlled deployment of the hinge. Shear damping of the fluid slows the angular velocity of the hinge. The invention reduces the end of travel impact loads thereby reducing the risk of damage to the hinge and the object rotated by the hinge. The hinge is particularly useful in, but not limited to, spacecraft applications.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 1994Date of Patent: August 20, 1996Assignee: Orbital Sciences CorporationInventors: Anthony D. Patent number: 5542151Abstract: An improved rotatable joint of the kind disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 5,381,570 for foldable tubular playpen frames having a step in the tooth of a recessed sprocket portion in which a connecting gear rests. In order to unlock the joint one must move the gear axially inwardly with a pushbutton as well as relieve the stresses on the joint by lifting up the tubular bars connected to the joint so that the gear may slip off the step. In this way an additional factor of safety is built-in in order to unlock the joint, and accidental release is reduced.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 1995Date of Patent: August 6, 1996Assignee: Century Products CompanyInventors: Sandra K. Patent number: 5530992Abstract: A hinge is described for use along each side of a refrigerator or on furniture to permit safe opening of the door or lid from either side. The hinge is uncomplicated in design, and is comprised of only a few component parts. Each hinge includes a hinge rod forming a swivel axis for the door, said rod held in an axle take-up receiver. At least one and preferably two interlocks are located at or near the top and bottom of each hinge rod. The interlocks comprise a hinge pick-up axially aligned with the swivel axis of the hinge and a hinge element which becomes mechanically coupled to the pick-up when the door is opened in the other direction. Details of the embodiments of the hinge are disclosed. Preferably, magnetic means are used to keep the hinge rod engaged with the swivel axis and to form the airtight seal between the door and the cabinet.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 1994Date of Patent: July 2, 1996Inventor: Eckhard Baermann
