Abstract: An improvement to a stamping press having a blanking punch and die combination comprising a blanking die defining an opening, a cooperating blanking punch dimensioned closely to mate with the opening wherein the die edge defining the opening is radiused to cause metal flow, a stock engaging shedder displaceable within the die opening to engage and clamp stock, and a stripper encircling the blanking punch and displaceable therealong to remove surplus stock after a blanking operation. The improvement comprises the stripper being disposed to engage and clamp stock being punched by the blanking punch and die.
Abstract: A continuously fed tube is momentarily halted at a cutting station and quickly cut by a rotating knife. The tube is continuously advanced from driving rollers to idler rollers and passes through interemdiate pinch rollers which are cam controlled in synchronism with the cutting process to bow the tube at a rate which causes the tube portion at the cutting station to briefly stop during cutting. The cutter includes a planetary gear set having a carrier rotatable about a central axis which carries a knife for rotation about another axis while it revolves about the central axis. The knife makes many rotations per carrier revolution but is in position to cut the tube during one of the rotations.
Abstract: A die stamping system includes opposed die members which clamp a metal workpiece to be shaped, cut or pierced after which the die members are moved away from one another and a part is subsequently ejected wherein the ejector is controlled for a selected delay time by a plurality of cylinder assemblies mounted in a manifold so that they are connected to a source of inert gas such as nitrogen under high pressure and to a source of hydraulic pressure. Each cylinder assembly includes a piston associated with and exposed to the nitrogen in the manifold. The cylinder assemblies are connected to a single hydraulic valve which has associated therewith an accumulator and which is operated simultaneously to actuate the cylinders. The hydraulic lines to the cylinders are provided in the manifold.
Abstract: In a device for clamping a circular saw blade, the saw blade is firmly clamped between two flanged rings and thereby connected to these so as to form an exchangeable tool unit which is pushed onto the free end of a saw shaft for rotation with the saw shaft and slidable displacement. Compression springs or the like are arranged between the tool unit and a stop face at the free end of the saw shaft to act upon one of the flanged rings and move the tool unit a short distance away from the stop face. A rotatingly mounted thrust plate which can be pressed centrically against the other flanged ring causes the tool unit to firmly engage on the stop face of the saw shaft.

Abstract: Disclosed is a film perforator having a punch unit, a pad roller and a feed roller which are disposed at the upstream side of the punch unit and support a film by nipping it between them, and a sprocket which is disposed at the downstream side of the punch unit and comes into engagement with punch-finished perforations, the sprocket and the feed rollers are connected by a pulley and the line speed of the sprocket is adjsuted to be a little higher than that of the feed rollers so that the film is caused to slip from its nipped position between the feed roller and the pad roller, whereby the film is exerted with backward tension so as to keep its proper flatness.
Abstract: A saw-blade tensioning arrangement for band saw and like machines which includes a hydraulic cylinder (6) having arranged for movement therein a piston (7) which is intended to activated saw-blade tension control means (2). The blade tension is, in this way, dependent on the hydraulic pressure in the cylinder. Abstract: A method and apparatus particularly suited for cutting continuously moving thermoplastic film such as linear low density polyethylene and includes a stationary anvil, preferably a roller of tool steel and a tungsten carbide die mounted for rotation along a circular arc intersecting the anvil. In an embodiment for punching holes in the film, the apparatus includes a saddle shaped hollow tungsten carbide die projecting slightly above the cylindrical surface of a roll passing under a spring biased tool steel roller for cutting a semicircular hole in a continuously moving continuous plastic film web for the manufacturer draw tape bags. A vacuum is supplied to the center of the die for removing the segment of plastic film cut out by the apparatus.

Abstract: An apparatus for cutting a laminated sheet material includes a pedestal for supporting on a support surface thereof a laminate of a sheet material at least the upper and lower surfaces of which are covered with an air-impermeable sheet. Arranged on the support surface is a suction pipe a side face of which is provided with a suction port for attracting a side face of the laminate. Connected to the suction pipe is a suction pipe drive unit for reciprocating the suction pipe in one direction. Coupled to a cutter head arranged above the laminate is a cutter head drive unit for reciprocating the cutter head in a direction orthogonal to the direction in which the suction pipe is reciprocated. A guide groove opposing the path along which the cutter head is reciprocated is provided in the support surface of the pedestal, and a number of closure plates driven in synchronization with the cutter head are fitted in the guide groove, the closure plates being interconnected.
