    Abstract: An apparatus for stabbing and threading a safety valve into a well pipe to prevent upward flow comprises a tubular canister rotatably mounted on a carriage assembly that is slidably mounted on an upstanding frame. The lower end of the frame has a swivel mounting to a bracket that is attached to the side of an elevator-type clamp by which the apparatus is clamped onto the upper end portion of the pipe. An alignment mechanism moves the frame from a first position wherein the canister is not aligned with the pipe to a second position wherein the canister and pipe are aligned and the safety valve can be stabbed and threaded into the pipe. A variable drive mechanism is operated to cause the canister, and the valve located therein, to be rotated and simultaneously lowered toward the pipe. The drive mechanism may be adjusted to facilitate threading of the valve into a variety of drill pipe thread designs. An improved clamp assembly allows adjustment in its size so as to accommodate drill pipe of various diameters.

    Abstract: A rip fence for use with a table saw or the like having a rotatable saw blade extending through its upper surface is disclosed. The rip fence holds a workpiece in position relative to the rotatable saw blade for longitudinal or rip cutting along the length of the workpiece. The rip fence includes depending front and rear clamps which are operatively connected for simultaneous releasable clamping engagement with corresponding surfaces of the table saw. For adjusting of the rip fence, the front and rear clamps are unlocked, and a spring biased lever maintains the rip fence in squared relationship to the table, while permitting adjustment relative to the rotatable saw blade. Removal and storage of the rip fence, when not in use, is also facilitated by de-activating the spring biased lever. The locking, unlocking and release of the rip fence relative to the table saw is achieved by the use of a pivoting handle which is moved from a locked to an unlocked and also a released position, for the purposes desired.

This device is distinguished in that it comprises two independent blades located side by side at an angle, each of which corresponds to two half-lengths of the drum, whereby each of the blades is fixed to blade carriers oriented angularly in the drum and is associated with a follower roller which cooperates respectively with a fixed cam of the same profile located on each lateral wing of the housing of the apparatus, whereby said cams are offset angularly in order to permit the progressive and successive exiting of each blade and to define two cutting zones of the band of material in the apparatus while obtaining only a single clean cutting line of said material perpendicular to its lateral edges.

    Abstract: A cutting link for a saw chain useful in heavy workload operations includes spaced-apart longitudinally-extending planar side portions adapted to straddle a guide bar support and a cutting element mounted on one of the side portions and extending toward the other side portion, the side portions being connectable to other links in the chain. A cross piece interconnects the side portions forwardly of the cutting element. The cross piece forms with the side portions a continuous U-shaped zone which defines a depth gauge to determine the depth of cut of the cutting element. A depending nose tab integral with the cross-piece serves to close off a portion of the forward open channel between the planar side portions to minimize accumulation and packing of sawdust under the U-shaped zone.

The knife has a leaf spring portion directly connected to the eccentric member, fatigue failure of the leaf spring portion of the blade is inhibited by antivibration stops and by a varying cross-section, a simple sharpener mechanism sharpens the blade on either one or both side faces, and a roller guide restrains the lower portion of the blade to the vertical axis with minimum frictional loss.

    Abstract: A scroll saw blade clamp and blade alignment tool to facilitate blade changes while assuring proper positioning and alignment of the blade. The blade clamp is for the upper end of the blade and includes a pair of clamp bars, one of which is pivoted to the upper saw arm. A locking screw clamps the bars together for clamping of the blade, and a strategically located pin prevents relative rotation of the clamp bars and also serves as a blade guide to properly locate the blade while it is being clamped in place. The alignment device takes the form of a flat bar provided with a recess for holding the lower blade clamp. A groove in the bar is centered on the recess to properly align a saw blade received in the groove.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing fibrous web pieces by die cutting the pieces from a continuous web. In the method, a fibrous web is provided having adjacent corrugations usually filled with a powder, and the powder-filled web is passed through a matched cutting die set intermittently which cuts and punches out the individual web pieces. Following the web cut out step, the web pieces are transferred downwardly onto a shuttle conveyor, and the pieces moved forward and simultaneously spread apart to permit subsequent convenient placement of the pieces. The cutting die apparatus includes matched punch and body die units which closely interfit with less than about 0.001 inch total clearance, so as to cut and punch out the fibrous web pieces from the continuous web.

    Abstract: A guillotine type cutting machine for stacks of paper sheets has a table which supports the stock to be cut and a knife which can sever the stock in a vertical cutting plane. A feeding unit is provided to advance the stock along the table across the cutting plane, and a hold-down device is provided at the cutting plane to engage and press upon the stock opposite the descending knife while the stock is being severed. This hold-down device further serves to bear upon the stock during expulsion of air from the stock preparatory to the first cutting step. The air expelling unit has a roller which is lowered onto the stock adjacent the hold-down device and is then moved along the stock toward the feeding unit to expel air from pockets between the sheets. A cover is placed between the roller of the air expelling unit and the stock so that the roller need not directly engage the topmost sheet of the stock.

    Abstract: This invention comprises a focused light attachment for use with a portable power-driven hand saw, particularly a saber saw. The invention comprises a light source such as an electric lamp with a suitable electrical power source and a focusing mechanism for projecting a very narrow beam of light. The light source and focusing mechanism is mounted on the front of the hand saw and is positioned to project its narrow light beam a substantial distance in front of the saw blade so that it can be used to trace or follow a previously scribed saw line. The tracing light can be used in combination with a flood light that is mounted also on the front of the saw housing and positioned to flood the area surrounding the saw blade with illumination. Most preferably, the tracing light and its focusing mechanism are mounted permanently within the housing of a saber saw.

A timing mechanism sequentially jogs and segregates a first batch from the receptor and deposits same in a vertical punch slot. The first and second batches are gripped and lifted. The first batch is deposited in a vertical discharge slot from which it is transferred to a deposit tray.
