  • Patent number: 4699036
Abstract: Cutting apparatus (15) for cutting-out stacks of sheet material such as fabric has a guide (55) for a reciprocating cutter (16), driven by a drive mechanism (18) arranged in a housing (19). The housing (19) is mounted on a carrier (8) extending above a cutting-out table (2). The cutter (16) is driven from an eccentric (38) arranged on a rotary member (36). A counterweight (41) is driven from a second eccentric (39) with an eccentricity (e) which is oppositely directed to the eccentricity (e) of the first eccentric (38) driving the cutter (16), to compensate for inertial forces generated by the mass of the cutter (16). The cutting apparatus (15) is free of turning moments acting substantially in a plane lying in the axis (36) of therotary member (32), by arranging the eccentrics (38, 39) in a turning plane (E.sub.1) on the two rotary members (32, 33), the members (32, 33) lying one behind the other with respect to the cutting direction (34) of the cutter (16) and rotating at the same speed as each other.

  • Patent number: 4697343
Abstract: In a device for cutting shielding of shielded cable, comprising an elongated cable carrier of U-shaped cross-section and an elongated saw carrier hinged to the cable carrier, cable is releasably locked into a lengthwise extending, sidewardly opening groove in the cable carrier by means of a lever pivoted to it and having plural lobes that project radially from the axis about which the lever swings, the lobes having rounded tip portions at different distances from that axis. As the lever is swung in a locking direction one of the lobes, depending upon cable diameter, cammingly engages a cable in the groove defined by the cable carrier and locks it to the cable carrier for cutting.

  • Patent number: 4697487
Abstract: An end-dogging log carriage system has two narrow, carriage sections, supportably guided on an elongated track, interconnected by a drive cable and a clamping cable. Both cables are wrapped around a spooling drum mounted on one of the carriage sections in such a way so that rotation of the spooling drum simultaneously changes the operative length of both clamping and drive cables thereby moving one carriage section with respect to the other to adjust the length of the log carriage and clamp a log therebetween. The tension in the cable system acting at the cable attachment points on each carriage section provides therein a preinduced countermoment in opposition to the dogging moment occurring when a log is dogged. The carriage sections are laterally biased against a single sidemounted guide rail spaced from the supporting track and discontinuous proximate the saws by a preloaded torque shaft mounted on each carriage section.

  • Patent number: 4697485
Abstract: A die cutting press for processing web material has a registration system which is operable to provide precise alignment of a shiftable die cutting unit along two axes during the time that the web material is advanced along a third axis toward the die unit, so that as soon as a defined area of the web reaches the die unit, the press can be immediately actuated to subject the web to the die cutting operation. In preferred forms of the invention, an indicator strip is printed on the length of the web and is detected by two spaced photo optical sensors movable with the die unit. A first control means, coupled to the sensors, selectively actuates in stepwise fashion either of two servomotors as may be necessary to bring the die unit into registration with defined web areas in a direction laterally of the web length (which may be defined as a Y axis) as well as a rotative orientation with respect to the defined web areas about an upright axis (which may be termed the .theta. axis).

  • Patent number: 4696434
Abstract: A cutter head for a meat cutter having several cutters fastened to securing disks by means of securing bolts includes at least one toothed area on the front of the securing disk into which a front toothing of a securing bolt can be positively locked. The cutters can be positively fastened and locked onto the securing disk, while the cutters can be adjusted in the radial direction. The staggering of the front toothing of the securing bolts by one-half the width of a tooth towards the center of the bolt makes it possible to adjust the cutters radially by one-half the width of the bolt. A counterbalance disk, fastened to the securing disk, is provided with bores to contain counterweights. The counterbalance disk has two shoulders for the lateral guidance of the cutter. Two cutters or a cutter and a filler disk can be positioned opposite each other in the same plane.

  • Patent number: 4696212
Abstract: An improved rotary cutter for a web material is proposed. It has a pair of rolls adapted to rotate synchronously in opposite directions and an axially elongated knife secured to each roll to extend axially. A plurality of rolling bodies are arranged around each roll to bear the shock upon cutting. Different means for preventing the knives from hitting the rolling bodies are proposed. This arrangement prevents the rolls from warping due to shock upon cutting and allows the use of rolls having a smaller diameter.

  • Patent number: 4691601
Abstract: A flange of a structural shape is cut by a saw apparatus with a rotary metal saw which has a specified number of sawteeth. The structural steel shape lies on a table or roller bed, clamped onto a stationary piece of equipment with a vise, within range of the metal saw. The metal saw is operated at a specified number of r.p.m. and is driven toward the projected sawcut at a specified feed speed. The speed of the cut is determined by the number of r.p.m., the number of sawteeth and the radius of the metal saw. During the sawing process the structural flange is subjected to a forced elastic deflection and is impacted by the thus required restoring force and movements of the sawteeth. These movements are determined by the tooth succession time which, in turn, depends on the number of sawteeth and the number of r.p.m. The oscillation time of the oscillation of the structural flange, which was activated by the elastic deflection, is ascertained. The metal saw is then operated at a number of r.p.m.
