  • Patent number: 4785893
Abstract: Demolition apparatus which is attached to a movable boom-like member of a machine. The demolition apparatus includes support structure which carries a power plunger and an actuator plunger. The plungers are mounted in adjacent relationship and are movable with respect to the support structure. A compression spring urges the power plunger in a direction from the support structure. The actuator plunger includes a latch device which engages a portion of the power plunger. In operation, the support structure is moved toward a surface to be demolished. The actuator member engages the surface and remains fixed as the support structure continues to move toward the surface. Therefore, as this occurs, there is relative movement between the support structure and the actuator plunger. A latch carried by the actuator plunger engages a part of the power plunger and retains the position of the power plunger with respect to the actuator plunger.

  • Patent number: 4784033
Abstract: A bandsaw blade including a continuous loop of hardened tempered bandsaw steel having carbide-tipped teeth arranged in pairs, each pair including a "high" tooth and a "low" tooth shaped to provide triple-chip cutting action and ground to provide radial and tangential relief angles on side surfaces of each saw tooth to reduce blade vibration during cutting. The teeth are secured to the blade body by brazing with a solder which includes a discrete layer of a ductile metal which absorbs forces induced in the brazing zone under dynamic load conditions.

  • Patent number: 4784034
Abstract: A saw blade assembly comprises a laminated structure of three side-by-side parallel strips, one two or all of which may have spaced teeth formed along one edge. Where only one strip has teeth, it is sandwiched between the two other strips and the teeth are of triangular shape when seen in plan and are bevelled on both edges to produce pointed tooth tips. Where two strips have teeth, the strips are arranged one on each side of a center strip. Again, the teeth are of triangular shape when seen in side elevation and are contoured to form pointed tips. The roots of the teeth on one strip are spaced laterally from the roots of the teeth on the other strip because of the presence of the center strip. In another form, each strip has teeth along one edge, the assembly thereby providing three parallel, side-by-side rows of teeth. The teeth are of triangular shape when seen in side elevation and are contoured to form pointed tips.

  • Patent number: 4782731
Abstract: A brush cutting blade having a curved slitter type/non-raker type primary cutting tooth and a preceding appendage forming a combination depth gauge and small stem slitter. The primary tooth terminates over the blade body with the cutting edge provided by that curved portion of the tooth between its most lateral point and the point of termination over the blade body. The cutting edge is curved but outwardly directed in a slitter configuration throughout its length. The lateral point of the cutting edge determines the kerf width to prevent binding. The slitter cutting edge of the appendage is hook shaped to cut small willowy-type stems and the appendage has an upper inclined guide edge that guides the larger rigid-type stems into the primary cutting tooth. The uppermost point of this guide edge of the appendage provides a depth gauge for the primary cutting tooth.

  • Patent number: 4781087
Abstract: A positioning device is disposed along a conveyor path of long towel cloth pulled out by a pull-out device. The positioning device stops the movement of the towel cloth while locking the boundary between a flat fabric section and a subsequent piled fabric section of the towel cloth. A cutting device is disposed downstream relative to the positioning device in the direction of movement of the towel cloth, and a size measuring device is disposed on the opposite upstream side. The positioning device and the cutting device are relatively movable to be spaced from and approached by each other. When the towel cloth is pulled out by the pull-out device, the length of the flat fabric section of the towel cloth is measured by the size measuring device. Based on the measured value, the spacing between the positioning device and the cutting device is adjusted to be equal to a half of the measured value.

  • Patent number: 4781088
Abstract: A rotary die cutter system minimizes the amount of scrap between successive blanks cut from web material by holding the web against backward movement at a position spaced upstream from the nip defined by the die and anvil cylinders, retracting the cut leading end of the web through a predetermined distance by means of a fluid pressure cylinder in response to release of the web by the cut-off knife at the trailing edge of the die on the die cylinder such that on the next cycle, the leading edge of the die will engage the web at a position spaced so close to the retracted leading end of the web that contiguous portions of a single blank can be cut from the web during successive revolutions of the die cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4781090
Abstract: Apparatus for severing sections from a web by transverse severing cuts at locations related to printed marks on the web. The apparatus includes a rotary cutter and pair of feed rollers, a differential transmission by which the feed rollers are operatively connected to a common drive motor for driving the rotary cutter and the feed rolls. A servomotor is provided for imparting a correcting rotation to the transmission. A mark detector for detecting the printed marks, a sensor for detecting the position of the rotary cutter, and a controller for controlling the servomotor in dependence on the deviation of the spacing of the printed marks from the predetermined web section length are also provided. The servomotor is a stepping motor which receives stepping pulses in a number which represents the difference between the theoretical length of each web section and the actual distance between the printed marks.

  • Patent number: 4776249
Abstract: A shearing wheel, and a method of assembling the same, having an annular carrier and having a plurality of arcuate segments side mounted to a segment receiving surface of the annular carrier. The arcuate segments are laid in an end-to-end fashion to form an annulus with the outside diameter of the annulus having a radial extent greater than the radial extent of the annular carrier. A support shoulder extends axially outward from the annular carrier to contact the surface of the arcuate segments defined by the inside diameter of the annulus. The arcuate segments may be removed and sharpened, whereafter shims are inserted between the arcuate segments and the annular carrier to properly space the segments from an adjacent shearing wheel. Optionally, arcuate segments may be mounted to both side faces of the annular carrier.

  • Patent number: 4770076
Abstract: The present invention provides a work fed truss cutter in which the work piece is a length of timber and is fed through the machine in a direction at right angles to its length. A first pair of saws at the left hand side of the work piece cut the left hand end of the work piece while a second and right hand pair of saws cut the other end of the work piece to provide bevel cuts thereon. To simplify the machine construction, of each pair of saws each saw is mounted for the pivotal movement about an axis which is physically spaced from the saw disc and at least one saw of each pair is movable linearly towards and away from the work piece which cuts in distinction to the prior art wherein of each pair of saws, the saws are pivotable about a common axis which lies as accord in relation to each saw disc, which leads to a mechanically complicated mounting arrangement for the saws.
