Patent number: 4096806Abstract: In a track tamping machine, opposed pivotally mounted tamping arms are oscillated by respective single acting hydraulic cylinders controlled by one or more hydraulic duplex rotary distributing valves. Fluid supply and return lines for each piston assembly are connected to a source of pressurized hydraulic fluid by way of a respective rotary valve. Each valve has a stationary ported shell which receives a rotary cylindrical spool having a pair of axially displaced supply and return throughports which alternately register with supply and return line ports in the shell to open and close the connections between the oscillating cylinder and the supply and return lines. Such oscillating cylinders are useful in controlling the vibration of the tamper arms in a track tamper unit.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1976Date of Patent: June 27, 1978Assignee: Graystone CorporationInventor: Franz Allmer

Patent number: 4096807Abstract: A cargo control restraint shield for use in the container of a trailer truck for weather protection of the cargo, compartmentalization of the cargo and for restraining the cargo and holding it in place. Cables are secured within the container at the upper and lower corners thereof so as to extend from the rear to the front of the container in a taut fashion. Clamps are received on the cables and are movable thereon from front to rear of the container. A flexible rectangular sheet of vinyl material has hooks mounted at the four corners thereof. Two of the hooks are secured to the clamps and two are secured to the lower cables. The clamps lock on the cables against movement of the vinyl sheet away from the cargo but may be released by long levers which hang downwardly from the cables. Long handles are attached to the hooks which are secured to the clamps and may be used to lift the hooks off of the clamps or to place the hooks on the clamps.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 1976Date of Patent: June 27, 1978Inventor: Ernest F. Patent number: 4094254Abstract: A lock for a railway hopper car gate in which a hopper outlet chute defines a discharge opening with a siding platelike gate operating in the opening. An undercarriage structure having a pair of spaced side frames supports the gate for sliding movement relative the opening. An elongated lock shaft extends between and projects through guide slots formed in both side frames with one of the side frames also being formed with a lock hole. A U-shaped handle is fixed to each end of the lock shaft with each handle having a return leg supported for transverse and pivoting movement relative the side frames. A latching shoulder is fixed to the elongated lock shaft and one of the guide slots is formed with a latching notch. Transverse movement of the lock shaft by operation of either handle effects an engagement of one of the handle return legs into the frame hole to thereby lock the gate.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1976Date of Patent: June 13, 1978Inventor: Clarence J.
