  • Patent number: 7346072
Abstract: A pipelined arbitration mechanism allows a routing control decision to be effected for a later packet while a current packet is being transferred. The later packet can be issued a fixed number of cycles after the current request. The mechanism has particular advantages when used with a plurality of functional modules connected to a packet router, whereby a single functional module can generate a current request relating to a current packet and a deferred arbitration request relating to a later packet to be issued a fixed number of cycles after the current request.

  • Patent number: 7336680
Abstract: An architecture for providing high-speed access over frequency-division multiplexed (FDM) channels allows transmission of ethernet frames and/or other data across a cable transmission network or other form of FDM transport. The architecture involves downstream and upstream FDM multiplexing techniques to allow contemporaneous, parallel communications across a plurality of frequency channels. Furthermore, the architecture allows a central concentrator to support a plurality of remote devices that each have guaranteed bandwidth through connection-oriented allocations of bi-directional data flows. The upstream and downstream bandwidth allocation can support symmetrical bandwidth as well as asymmetrical bandwidth in either direction. The architecture generally can be used to support connection-oriented physical layer connectivity between a remote device and the central concentrator.

  • Patent number: 7336670
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses and systems facilitating location or containment of rogue or unauthorized access points on wireless computer network environments. Embodiments of the present invention support one to a plurality of rogue containment methodologies. A first rogue containment type involves identification of the physical connection of the rogue access point to the wired network infrastructure and, thus, allows for disabling of that physical connection to contain the rogue access point. Other rogue containment methods involve wireless techniques for containing the effect of rogue access points. In some embodiments, the present invention provides methods, apparatuses and systems facilitating network location of rogue access points to determine whether one or more rogue containment methodologies should be applied. As discussed below, the rogue location and containment functionality described herein can be applied to a wide variety of wireless network system architectures.

  • Patent number: 7333499
Abstract: A telecommunications system for receiving from a telecommunications unit a request for data from a target network address may include a request completion unit configured to receive the request for data from the telecommunications unit and to transmit a request for the data to the target address. The request completion unit may be further configured, on receiving the data from the target address, to transmit the data to the telecommunications unit via the radio link. The request completion unit, if it is determined that the request to the target address is not satisfied, may be configured to attempt to establish communication with the target address, and, if it is determined that such communication is possible, transmit an indication via the radio link to the telecommunications unit.

  • Patent number: 7333435
Abstract: A novel apparatus, system and method for transmitting data flows having different quality of service (QoS) attributes over a network link structured in two or more channels is provided. The method classifies arriving packets to determine their required/assigned QoS attributes and places the classified packets into one of several logical channel queues, the selected logical channel queue having an appropriate corresponding set of QoS attributes defined. A radio link controller examines the available channels and, for each channel, selects a logical channel queue whose contents will be transmitted thereon. The radio link controller determines the data transmission capacity for each channel and segments the contents of the selected logical channel to fit within the determined capacity. The selection of the logical channel queue is performed in accordance with the set of QoS attributes and thus each flow can have different QoS characteristics including priorities, reliabilities (ARQ, no ARQ, etc.).

  • Patent number: 7333501
Abstract: A method and apparatus are presented for determining network nodes for aggregating addresses in routing information used for routing data packets over a network. Link data and reachability data are received. Link data indicates direct links between each of multiple candidate routers of a network and a different router or a network segment. Reachability data indicates a set of one or more contiguous network addresses that can be reached on each link described in the link data. A measure of possible aggregation of contiguous network addresses is determined at the candidate routers based on the link data and the reachability data. A preferred router to aggregate addresses in routing information sent between routers in the network is determined among the candidate routers based on the measure of possible aggregation at each candidate router.

  • Patent number: 7333518
Abstract: A transmission method according to the present invention is capable of transmitting and receiving a data signal and information signal among a plurality of devices by full-duplex operation, wherein, when the information signal consecutively repeats a single pattern, a different pattern is inserted between the same patterns before transmission thereof. This minimizes an adverse effect of crosstalk jitter over a transmission line susceptible to crosstalk, and reduces a margin between the transition and sampling point of a signal, thereby suppressing the cost of a CDR circuit.

  • Patent number: 7333519
Abstract: A method is provided for manually synchronizing the playback of a digital audio broadcast on a plurality of network output devices. The method is applicable for use with methods such as those that use a time code, insert a control track pulse, or use an audio waveform sample for synchronization. The manual adjustment method relies on a graphical user interface for adjustment and audible pulses from the devices which are to be synchronized. The digital audio broadcast from multiple receivers does not present to a listener any audible delay or echo effect.
