  • Patent number: 4916983
Abstract: The invention is a system to override electric control units which normally overns the transmission and fuel regulating valve of an automotive vehicle. The system includes a first linkage to mechanically operate the automatic transmission, a bypass valve hydraulically in parallel with the fuel regulating valve, and a second linkage to mechanically operate the bypass valve. The linkages are connected to a control assembly in the driver's compartment of the vehicle, the assembly having two moveable members for manually actuating the linkages. The control assembly has a mechanism for keeping the bypass valve closed during selected gears or modes of the transmission. This mechanism also prevents the the transmission from shifting gears when the bypass valve is open.

  • Patent number: 4916976
Abstract: A hydraulically, vacuumatically controlled infinitely variable speed drive transmission connecting an input shaft to an output shaft, comprising a plurality of sets of adhesion rollers mounted radially of the input and output shafts in diammetrically opposed relation to one another. The adhesion rollers are movable radially of input and output shafts under centrifugal force imparted thereto by the rotation of the aforesaid shafts. A pair of self-adjusting, floating disks are mounted to either side of said adhesion rollers and are engageable with said rollers at varying radial distances of the rollers from the axis of the input and output shafts whereby to vary the rate of rotation of said disks. The transmission further includes a planetary gear arrangement for coupling the input shaft to the output shaft and which is responsive to variations in the rate of rotation of the disks to cause the speed ratio between the input and output shafts to correspondingly vary.

  • Patent number: 4913004
Abstract: An electronic powershift control system for an implement transmission having a plurality of selectively operated electrically controlled hydraulic powershift clutches. The system includes a manually positionable gear selector connected to electrical control circuitry. The electrical control circuitry receives input shift signals from the gear selector indicative of the shift desired and, in response, produces output shift signals for operating various hydraulic powershift clutches over a predetermined time to effect the desired shift. The electrical circuitry further incorporates a feed back loop which allows the circuitry to monitor shift performance effected during the desired shift and, if necessary, adjust the predetermined time of powershift clutch operation the next time the same shift is selected by the operator.

  • Patent number: 4913003
Abstract: A stepless transmission is provided with an input shaft having gear structure. A variator shaft also has gear structure. A variator is connected between the input shaft and the variator shaft. The variator alters the relative speeds of rotation between the input shaft and the variator shaft. An output shaft has gear structure that is operatively connected to the input shaft gear structure and the variator shaft gear structure. The speed and direction of rotation of the output shaft is related to the difference between the tangential velocities of the input shaft gear structure and the variator shaft gear structure acting on the output shaft gear structure. Structure for increasing the rotational speed delivered from the input shaft to the variator can be provided. Reduction structure for gearing down the rotational speed of the variator shaft gear structure can also be provided. Controls for the transmissions are also disclosed.
