The system includes a first linkage to mechanically operate the automatic transmission, a bypass valve hydraulically in parallel with the fuel regulating valve, and a second linkage to mechanically operate the bypass valve. The linkages are connected to a control assembly in the driver's compartment of the vehicle, the assembly having two moveable members for manually actuating the linkages. The control assembly has a mechanism for keeping the bypass valve closed during selected gears or modes of the transmission.
