  • Patent number: 4625438
Abstract: An excavating bucket, for example a bucket of the type used on a backhoe, has a leading or digging edge along which is provided a row of individually pneumatically driven digging teeth. Power for the teeth is supplied through impact hammers which reciprocate the teeth at high speed and with great force, whereby the teeth may be advanced into a work surface and break it up for loading into the bucket with maximum speed and ease. As high speed reciprocation of the several teeth continues, their associated impact hammers are progressively, relatively slowly advanced bodily toward the work surface, so as to effect a steady and substantially continuous penetration of the surface, including cementitious surfaces and other very hard surfaces often encountered during excavation, demolition, and other heavy operations in which a backhoe is typically used.

  • Patent number: 4622895
Abstract: An apparatus for lining a form cylinder for gravure printing with a wrap-around plate is characterized by a machine frame having insertion apertures (3) provided in the area of its side walls (2) and allocated to the lateral journals (4) of the form cylinder (5), and having a swivel frame (10) which is pivotably mounted outside the insertion apertures (3), can be fixed relative to the machine frame and accommodates a drivable pressing roller (7) mounted in rotatable eccentric bushes. In this way, the wrap-around plate can be rolled onto the form cylinder, so that a full, uniform seating of the wrap-around plate on the cylinder periphery is ensured even when the form cylinder possesses no adjustable clamping device.

  • Patent number: 4623136
Abstract: An improved printing press. The printing press forms transverse lines of weakening at spaced intervals along a continuous strip of paper after the paper has been imprinted with a repeating business format. The press then creases the strip of paper along the lines of weakening formed therein.

  • Patent number: 4619449
Abstract: To prevent buckling of a lowermost one, or a lower group of superposed webs being fed, in superposed relation to a common folding triangle or folding former (1), a driven supply roller (2) is provided which has its circumference formed with projecting pins (6) or the like, long enough to penetrate through the entire stack of the superposed web (8) as it runs over the supply roller, thereby feeding all the webs at the same speed to the folding former. Preferably, a hold-down roller (9) is provided, formed with a circumferential groove (10) aligned with the pins (6) so that the pins can penetrate through the webs and fit into the groove (10).

  • Patent number: 4619197
Abstract: A card ticket, e.g. for travel, is taken from a stack of blanks (101) which it leaves via two wheels (111, 112) travelling along an axis (113) which does not coincide with the common tangent to two touching wheels (135, 175) which receive the ticket taken from the stack. Thus, once the ticket has completely left the stack unit from which it is taken, it may be reversed partially or totally back out between the receiving wheels (135, 175) without re-engaging the stack unit. The same arrangement can be used at the other end of the internal path to receive a ticket at wheels (163, 203). These wheels can both output a ticket towards a user (arrow F3) and receive a ticket from a user for inspection (arrow F4). Apparatus of this nature can thus create new tickets, inspect unused tickets and return them, and inspect used tickets, cancel them and retain them (arrow F5).

  • Patent number: 4616816
Abstract: Underneath a support table for a cover element or sheet there are positioned a number of receiving or storage bins for additional or supplementary sheets. Between the receiving or storage bins and the support table there is placed a conveyor belt. One run of the conveyor belt is pressed against the underside of the support table. A thrust element for advancing the cover element is coupled with the conveyor belt. A piston-cylinder unit displaces the conveyor belt and the thrust element in a direction of movement towards a deposit device. During this displacement the one run of the conveyor belt rolls at the support table, whereby the conveyor belt is circulatingly driven. A first or active-conveying run of the conveyor belt withdraws additional or supplementary sheets, which have been pushed into the movement path or working range of the conveyor belt, from the receiving or storage bins and transports them towards the deposit device.

  • Patent number: 4616815
Abstract: The in-line web printing press 15 will be discharging shingled sheets at a rate set the press operator and operator of the stacking and folding machine 10 will set its speed of operation to match that of the web printing press. To this end, it is preferred to have an electric counter device 260 (FIG. 1) connected to a photocell 262 with the photocell actually counting each sheet passing underneath it on the alignment conveyor 22. A digital counter 264 on the electric counter device displays the operating speed so that the operator can match the speed precisely to that of the in-line web printing press. An electric motor control 266 has an adjustable knob 268 which changes the speed of the motor 270 which has its motor drive shaft 126 (FIG. 10) driving the side joggers 30 and the rear joggers 26. A motor 272 (FIG. 1) drives the alignment conveyor 22 and its speed may be adjusted by the operator at motor control device 274 having a control adjustment knob 276.

  • Patent number: 4615517
Abstract: The cover sheet which is to be placed, is brought into a waiting position above a predetermined conveying path of the stacks of flat articles. The cover sheet is displaced from this waiting position onto one stack by means of a placing element arranged at the end of a piston rod of a piston cylinder unit. The piston-cylinder unit is pivotably mounted about an axis which extends at right angles to a predetermined travel or movement direction of the stack. In its rest position the piston-cylinder unit lies against a pad or buffer which keeps the piston-cylinder unit in an inclined position. By extending the piston rod, the cover sheet is placed onto a stack. The placing element which presses on the stack, is entrained by the further moving stack. Thus the piston-cylinder unit is deflected from its rest position. As soon as a detector detects such a deflecting movement, the detector generates a signal which triggers retraction of the piston rod.

  • Patent number: 4615130
Abstract: The present invention relates to a snowplow blade to be attached to a small all terrain vehicle. The snowplow blade comprises a lower portion constituted by a rubber sheet, the bottom edge of which is urged forwardly by a ground-engaging bar biased forwardly by springs. The rubber sheet and the ground engaging bars are free to yield rearwardly against the springs, when sufficient resistance is encountered. The invention also pertains to an attachment for connecting the snowplow blade to a vehicle. The attachment is constituted by a frame having a main point of connection with the vehicle at the rear end thereof, the front end of the frame being suspended from the chassis of the vehicle. Also described is a removable scraping edge mounted to the lower edge of the rubber sheet.

  • Patent number: 4615129
Abstract: A mobile snow-disposal unit having a vehicle including a sealable snow-collection receptacle having a water-holding internal compartment and an engine for propelling the vehicle utilizes a vacuum pump for lowering the internal pressure of the receptacle, when sealed, and a heat exchange system for routing waste heat from the engine to the internal compartment. By lowering the internal pressure of the receptacle so that the boiling temperature of water held by the internal compartment is about equal to the temperature of the waste heat entering the internal compartment, water held within the internal compartment is converted to steam for readily melting the collected snow.

  • Patent number: 4614155
Abstract: A mechanism for adjusting the vertical position of a format on a printing press is proposed which makes use of the rotation of a blanket cylinder. A pair of pawls engage and disengage with a pair of ratchet wheels, which turn when a pawl support plate turns by a preset angle with respect to the blanket cylinder. The rotation of the ratchet wheel is transmitted to the format cylinder, so that the vertical position of a format is adjusted.
