  • Patent number: 5067711
Abstract: An improvement in iron golf clubs in which an unusually short, hollow hosel is provided thereby reducing weight of hosel and bridge that can be redistributed to the blade to increase the momentum that can be imparted to a golf ball. The hosel is disposed at the heel end of the blade lapping the heel end from the upper edge of the heel end downwardly, there being no bridge between the blade and the hosel below the hosel, the hosel extending from a level above the top of the blade down to the sole, the hosel having a through bore of constant diameter extending from the top of the hosel down through the sole. The lower end of the hosel, in developmental view of the sole taken from below, extending at an obtuse angle forwardly from the heel end of the blade in the manner of a dog-leg. A shaft fixedly secured in the bore and extending completely to the sole.

  • Patent number: 5067477
Abstract: A low wear bearing system for a surgical retractor including usually four bearings recessed in the retractor housing, each bearing having a generally rectangular projection extending into a corresponding slot in the rack of the rack and pinion type retractor. There are two bearings on each side of the rack spaced longitudinally along the rack. The bearings provide an enlarged buffer area of contact between the rack and the housing to distribute the relatively high internal retraction forces that can be experienced during tissue retraction.

  • Patent number: 5067712
Abstract: An amusement apparatus of the type typically referred to as a slot machine, wherein a complete game of said apparatus consists of at least two complete playing cycles if a prize winning result does not occur at the end of the first cycle, whereby each cycle involves separate pulls of the handle of said apparatus. If at the end of a first playing cycle, the player obtains a winning combination of symbols, the game is terminated and the player is awarded a prize; if at the end of a first playing cycle the player obtains a non-winning combination of symbols, at least a second separate cycle can be played, the conclusion of which terminates the game.

  • Patent number: 5067716
Abstract: A miniature golf game combined with a device for transporting it is disclosed. The miniature golf game includes numerous miniature golf greens which attach to the device for transporting them by way of respective attachments. The respective attachments allow the miniature golf greens to be raised and lowered with respect to the transport device and to be rotated around their points of attachment to their respective attachments. A user can orient and secure the miniature golf greens such that they are raised and rotated so as to project upward, for transporting them, and can alternatively orient the miniature golf greens so that they are lowered and project horizontally when miniature golf is to be played thereon. The time to effect the change in orientation for nine miniature golf greens is approximately five minutes. The miniature golf greens can also be completely removed from their respective attachments. Other devices, such as other games or pop and snacks can also be transported by the transport device.

  • Patent number: 5066013
Abstract: A device for restraining a person by the wrist or other part on a limb comprised of two batons bound together by a woven nylon cord at a point from a flanged end of each baton that is equal to about half the length of the cord between batons. That length of cord between batons is approximately equal to the circumference of the wrist of a male adult of average height and weight. The cord is preferably a continuous cord that runs from a knot in a countersunk hole in the handle of one baton to a knot in a countersunk hole in the handle of the other baton to provide the elasticity between the batons of the total length of cord. The flanged end of each baton is tapered to provide a section that has a conical frustum shape capped by the flange.

  • Patent number: 5062641
Abstract: A system that accurately determines the location of the point of impact of a projectile, such as a golf ball, on a screen. A timer is provided that is activated when the projectile leaves a start point positioned at a known location. Upon impact of the projectile on the screen, a sound wave is produced that travels to a plurality of sound wave detectors. The system measures the time the sound wave travels to the plurality of sound wave detectors. These travel times are utilized to determine the point of impact of the projectile on the screen. The point of impact and flight travel time is used to determine the trajectory and velocity of the projectile. These parameters are then used to determine the distance the projectile would have traveled if unimpeded.

  • Patent number: 5062636
Abstract: A thread protector and tip scuffer for a breakdown billiard cue includes a separate protector member for each threaded end section of the cue, comprising either a threaded stud or a threaded bore. The protector member is thus either threadable over the stud projecting from the cue end section or into the threaded bore on the other cue end section such that the threads and adjoining faces of the cue sections are protected when disassembled from damage as a result of dropping of the like. The protractor members are threadable axially to one another when not in use and have cylindrical bodies to provide a smooth compact cylindrical assembly. A third end protector may be provided for a cue assembly having an interchangeable alternate tip section, and the additional end protector may be substantially identical to one of the basic two piece set and threadable into one end thereof when not in use.

  • Patent number: 5062425
Abstract: An alternative to internal stitches in the care of small bleeders in the vaginally delivered patient that can avoid the chance of a needle stick is the application of direct pressure and cold. An expansible internal pressure cold pack that conforms softly to the contours of a body orifice is inserted prior to inflation. Cold fluid is inserted through a needle insert plug to inflate the bag as the pressure is metered within the vault to apply just enough pressure to avoid or control any small problem after stabilization of any delivery related problem. The inner suspended ice capsule is insulated centrally as the balloon-like bag is inflated to seek out small sulcus or cervical bleeders, hematomas and to deter edema of the traumatized tissue. Attachment of the inner wall of the pack, to suspend the ice capsule centrally, forms vertical drainage channels for body fluid along the bag outer wall.

  • Patent number: 5062637
Abstract: There is disclosed herein a game using jigsaw puzzle like game boards but wherein each game piece in the form of a jigsaw puzzle piece and the underlying board both have matching letter and number identifications facilitating locating where the game piece is to be placed. Certain game pieces have a unique indicia, such as the word "Scramble" which, after being placed on a board, results in the game boards of all players being shifted one player position. The game boards are like jigsaw puzzles with borders to retain the game pieces on the board. Each player has a board, and all game pieces are piled on the playing table. The first player selects a number of game pieces, such as ten, and places those matching his board on his board, and those not matching are returned to the pile. The first player to complete a puzzle is the winner.

  • Patent number: 5062635
Abstract: A device for generating numbers that can be used to play a numbers game includes a fan which forces number bearing balls from a chamber into an exit chute. The chute can be opened or closed using a disc-like valve. One embodiment of the device includes a magnetic biasing system attached to the chute entrance for influencing the selection process. The magnetic biasing systems uses a statistical analysis of previous winning numbers to generate a pattern of the winning numbers and to control the magnetic biasing to influence the selection process of each ball based upon any tendency for one number to repeatedly appear in a particular location within the winning number, if such tendency is found.

  • Patent number: RE33735
Abstract: A shaft for a golf club includes a first series of step portions, with the step portions increasing in diameter along the shaft from a tip or hosel end of the shaft toward a grip end. The step portions are separated from adjacent step portions by transitional portions which consist of a relatively gentle taper which smoothly link the surfaces of one step portion with another. A second series of step portions is disposed between the first series of step portions and the grip end of the shaft, with the diameter of the step portions increasing by a predetermined amount from the first series of step portions toward the grip end. The second series of step portions are separated from adjacent step portions and from the grip end further transitional portions which are similar to the transitional portions discussed above.
