Abstract: A wood-type golf club head exhibiting improved aerodynamic performance enabling the golfer to generate greater club head speed during a swing includes a conventionally shaped wood-type club head. The grooves at the club head form openings which lead into passages which are in air flow relationship to vents located at the back of the club head. During a swing, air is allowed to flow through the club head by entering the grooves and flowing through one or more passages out of the vents at the back of the club head.

Abstract: A sports equipment is disclosed as having a handle, a head and a shaft connecting the head to the handle wherein the shaft has at its butt end of the handle a segment which is partially hollow and an insertion point. The equipment includes a central member partially disposed in the hollow segment through the insertion point. The central member is associated with the portion of the equipment positioned beyond the insertion point. A space is provided between the central member and the interior of the hollow portion of the segment to allow lateral movement of the central member relative to the shaft segment during bending of the shaft during impact with a game ball.

Abstract: A weight adjustable tennis racquet comprises a head frame and a handle, wherein, at least one elastic counter-weight holder with a plurality of counter weights can be attached to the head frame. At least one receiving recess is formed on the head frame along with a retaining bar extending across the width of each recess to conform with the profile of the head frame. Each counter-weight holder has a cavity formed on its inner surface and a retaining groove formed on its outer surface. A plurality of circular recesses is formed on the base of each retaining groove receive a variable number of counter weights for weight adjustment. The elastic counter-weight holders with the selective addition of counter weights, can be inserted into the receiving recesses with their cavities gripping the inner circumference of the head frame and the retaining bars in place over the retaining grooves, holding the counter-weight holders and counter weights in place.

Abstract: A toy money box in the form of a slot machine which has a coin store for a jackpot prize. That store has a hinged base which is normally held shut by engagement with a cam, displacement of the cam upon sensing of a winning combination for the chance wheels releasing the hinged base to release prize money. Additionally a clutch mechanism is provided between the operating handle and the operating mechanism. This reduces the chance of damage to the operating mechanism should the handle be operated when the mechanism is jammed. The wheels are set in rotation by spring loaded fingers which drive said wheels, said fingers being moved to their loaded position by said clutch and engaging a stop to causing said clutch to release the fingers which spring back and spin the chance wheels.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved board game played on a board with a multiplicity of circular spaces printed thereon. Some of the spaces have indicia such as the face of a character forming the basis of the game. Other spaces have other information thereon such as information concerning scoring and the choosing of cards or chips. The object of the game is to build words out of letter chips and thereby to score the most points.

Abstract: A portable validation unit for an electronic gaming system, particularly a BINGO system. The validation unit communicates through a serial data interface with a base station of the gaming system to receive a serial number defining a particular validation unit and corresponding employee, and further receives a validation code defining a particular gaming schedule. As the gaming schedule is played on electronic BINGO cards, wins of each game are validated by connecting a validation unit to an electronic card to ensure that the card has a matching validation code stored therein for the current gaming schedule and is indicating a winning sequence of called numbers. If there is no winning indication, then the validation unit sounds one of two audible tunes depending upon whether the validation codes match. In response to a matching validation code and win indication, the validation unit will sound another short recognizable audible tune indicating a win.

Abstract: A racquet for tennis or the like, which comprises a frame with an appended handle with a plurality of guides mounted in spaced relationship along the frame in its plane. Each guide has an outwardly oriented portion concave in a plane normal to the plane of the frame and each guide is constructed of a self-lubricating and shock absorbent material. A string laced around the guides forms a ball impact grid within the frame. In one embodiment the guides are spools positioned between a pair of laterally opposed members forming the frame and in another embodiment the guides are bosses fixed to the outside of the frame with tangential apertures through the frame. In a further embodiment the guides are spools resting in sockets, or in a circumscribing channel, on the frame in its plane.

Abstract: A retractor for operating on hernias comprising a frame member and several gripping, hook and elongated gripping instruments that are removably mounted to the frame. Each instrument includes a mounting assembly that permits the rigid locking of the elongated portion of the instrument in place with respect to the mounting assembly so that the tissue or body part being pulled is maintained out of the area being operated on. The mounting assemblies are removably and pivotally mounted to one of several openings positions around the periphery of the frame assembly so that the instruments can be directed in any suitable angle.

Abstract: The game software for a video game system includes audio data and sound positioning information, in order that the audio data can be processed in accordance with the sound positioning information and played back over two spaced-apart speakers to give the player the impression that the sound is emanating from a location other than the actual speaker locations. A sound processor operates upon monaural signals from an audio synthesizer in response to the sound positioning information from the game software so that each monaural signal from the audio synthesizer is divided into two signals and at least one of the signals is passed through a transfer function to produce two-channel output signals that have a differential phase and amplitude relationship therebetween that is adjusted on a frequency dependent basis.

Abstract: An improved method and system for instructing individuals as to the various breeds of animals and in the art of exhibition. An event board simulates true life circumstances which occur while exhibiting during a competition. Other devices are employed which instruct users as to the various aspects of exhibition and of dog breeds such that the information is presented in a manner which is enjoyable to the users. The game board indicia is presented in tracks or bands, with each band representing a different level of competition.

Abstract: An ice pack is made from two thermoplastic sheets of polyethylene to provide a rectangular shape that has a small ice compartment defined at one of the rectangle's shorter sides. The opposite short side has a strip of adhesive covered with release paper. In use the ice filled bag end is closed, and the release paper removed so the pack can be conveniently wrapped and secured in place on the injured person.

Abstract: An implant and method for treating external human eye conditions due to a deficiency of tears. The method includes the temporary blockade of the canaliculus of a patient without resorting to a surgical stitch, observing the response of the patient's eye to the temporary blockade and, if an improvement is observed, placing an implant within the horizontal portion of at least one of the canaliculi of the patient's eye. The temporary blockade may be produced by the placement of a piece of catgut in the canaliculus. The implant is constructed of a material that is nonabsorbable by the human body and is constructed to facilitate placement into and removal from the canaliculus.

Abstract: An improved spinal retractor frame having detachable pairs of blade sets is disclosed in which the blades are self-engaging, automatically aligning, and rapidly attaching. The spinal retractor has a pair of arms which engage blades along the sides of the arms. The blades have a U shaped opening at their upper portions for aligning and engaging with the arms of the retractor as the arms are separated by a ratcheting mechanism.

Abstract: A speculum for vaginal examination incorporates pin-and-slot connections between the upper and lower blades to enable individual or simultaneous adjustment of speculum aperture and blade angulation by simple application of thumb pressure on the upper blade handle. Small hinge pins on each side of the lower blade handle are pivotably and slidably received within corresponding slots on opposite sides of the upper blade handle. A single covering nut threaded on preferably the right-hand side hinge pin controls locking and releasing of the blades relative to one another for both phases of adjustment. Loosening the covering nut releases the blades for adjustment of angulation and/or aperture as desired, whereas tightening of the nut locks the blades in the desired configuration.

Abstract: Composite hockey stick includes an expanded polyvinylchloride foam core in the shape of a handle attached to a blade, a first mesh composed of at least one of fiberglass and carbon fibers tightly surrounding at least a portion of the expanded polyvinylchloride foam core, and at least one additional mesh composed of at least one of fiberglass and carbon fibers tightly surrounding at least a portion of the first mesh. Preferably, each mesh in a direction outwardly from the core has a greater weaving angle with respect to the core than a preceding mesh, to thereby provide an offsetting of threads of one mesh to another.

Abstract: A women's therapeutic support garment comprising a pair of breast supporting cups each of which is formed with an inner and an outer panel defining therebetween one of two cupped shaped pockets. A cupped shaped, thermal gel pack is placed in each pocket and has a central opening for accommodating the women's nipple. A pair of side panels are connected to the breast supporting cups, the side panels being dimensioned and configured to encircle the wearer and hold the breast supporting cups in place with the gel packs surrounding the women's breasts. The heat from each gel pack serves to reduce swelling and tenderness of the breast tissues during the premenstrual period, pregnancy or the post-partum period.

Abstract: A machine for random distribution, particularly for use in a gaming machine such as a bingo type game, utilizes a plurality of lightweight spheres such as ping pong balls, in two colors such as black and white. The balls are contained between two parallel planes spaced apart slightly wider than one ball width, at least a part of the front plane being transparent. The space between the two planes is divided into a mixing section and a holding section, separated by a narrow channel which may be at the bottom of the machine. Motors in both sections create air movement in the respective sections so as to mix the balls in the mixing section and then lift the balls in the holding section, into a pattern or matrix of the black and white balls. The pattern of stationary balls reveals whether the player has won a game of chance such as bingo, wherein all balls of one color would be in a single line.

Abstract: A numeral toy comprising a container divided into an upper chamber and a lower chamber with a separating board having a plurality of through holes. The interior of the container is filled with a liquid and a plurality of small numbered balls are normally kept in the lower chamber. When playing with this toy, the container is reversed upside down, so that numbered balls float up through the through holes in the separating board and stop under the top board of the container.
