  • Patent number: 6861100
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for producing body components (48) being provided with an acoustically-effective silencing material layer (44). The aim of the invention is to enable fully automatic packaging making use of the silencing material layer (44). The silencing material that consists of a plastic material which can be cured in a thermal manner is applied onto a flat surface of a body component in a pasty, moisture-absorbing form as a layer (44), and the exposed side of the silencing material layer is covered with a cover layer (46) that facing the body component flat surface. The over layer consists of moisture-impermeable material. The thus pre-packed body component (48) can be randomly transported, intermediately stored and/or supplied for further processing under exposure to air. Curing of the silencing material (44) is only carried out in a subsequent procedure step, for example in an enameling oven.

  • Patent number: 6838119
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an ionic conductor to improve oxygen ion conductivity that is otherwise reduced by the presence of deleterious impurities comprising silicon or silicon containing compounds. In accordance with the invention a dissolved salt of a dopant consisting of an alkaline-earth metal is applied to an oxygen ion conducting material composed of doped ceria, doped zirconia, or doped lanthanum gallate and having the impurities. The solution can also be applied with equal success to cation salts and oxides used in making the oxygen ion conducting material. The oxygen ion conducting material with the solution applied thereto is thoroughly mixed and then heated to evaporate the solvent and to decompose the alkaline-earth salt and thereby to form said ionic conductor.

  • Patent number: 6793964
Abstract: An apparatus for bitumen coating particulate material comprises a chamber (2) having baffles or deflectors (4), a particulate material inlet (8) and a particulate material outlet (10). In use, a foamed bituminus formulation is directed into the chamber via an outlet (12) and an air stream is directed from an inlet (14) towards the bituminous formulation, to atomise the formulation. The atomised formulation then contacts particulate material which passes in a convoluted path through the chamber via inlet (8). Prior to contact with the atomised bituminous formulation, heated air which passes into the chamber via a second gas inlet (16) heats the surface of the stone. After the particulate material has been coated it is discharged via outlet (10) for subsequent use.
