  • Patent number: 6923399
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for terminating dynamoelectric machine component wire coil leads in situ in automated wire coil winding machines are provided. A shape-forming wire-termination fixture is disposed about the front face of the dynamoelectric machine component. After the wire coils have been wound, a movable wire gripper is used to grasp and manipulate the starting and ending wire leads of the wound coils one at a time. The wire leads are terminated by deforming them around the wire-termination fixture to form freestanding geometrical patterns in them. Machine component-holding pick and place devices may be used to remove components with terminated wire leads from the winding machine for further processing.

  • Patent number: 6921061
Abstract: A hoisting apparatus with a horizontal stabilizing means for a load holder is provided. This apparatus comprises a base secured to a ceiling, a load holder, to which a load is detachably attached, a pair of cables extending between the base and the load holder, and a drive means mounted on the base, which is operative to take in or let out the cables from the base. The horizontal stabilizing means includes a shaft horizontally supported in the load holder to be freely rotatable, around which the cables are wound in opposite winding directions to each other. The horizontal stabilizing means is operative to correct an inclination of the load holder in a horizontal position by unwinding a required length of one of the cables from the shaft and at the same time winding the same length of the other one around the shaft.

  • Patent number: 6921043
Abstract: Winding machine and method for shielding the winding machine relative to debris during a winding operation are provided. The method allows providing at least one winding assembly. The method further allows feeding a respective strand of wire to the winding assembly, wherein the strand of wire is fed into the assembly through the bottom thereof. A shield is provided for the winding assembly. The shield is configured to include a window at the bottom thereof for allowing passage of the strand of wire. The shield further includes lateral and top sections configured to partially enclose the assembly, wherein the lateral section extends sufficiently beneath the assembly so that any debris therein egresses from the assembly through the window and is prevented from being propelled into any adjacent assemblies, thus reducing the occurrence of debris-induced faults.

  • Patent number: 6921060
Abstract: A winch handle for a winch has an extendable arm with an extended position and a retracted position. The retracted position of said extendable arm being equal to or within the diameter of the winch. In its retracted position, the extendable arm is shaped in a fashion that does not interfere with the operation of the winch while the handle is not needed. The extended position of the extendable arm is longer than the diameter of the standard winch and is useful for turning the winch. The winch handle may also have a grip.

  • Patent number: 6915978
Abstract: This invention relates to rolling and in particular to the process of rod coil forming, for instance, of steel and nonferrous metals, and to a set of equipment for its realization. The method of rod coil forming includes continuous rod feeding through a wire-rod guide, forming of waps with a variable diameter by means of speed variation of wire-rod guide rotation and stacking of waps by horizontal layers throughout the height of a coil. The difference of the applied method is in the fact that the rod is fed at a speed of 35-300 m/s. Forming of waps with a variable diameter is realized under the influence of dynamic forces by means of rod declination at the wire-rod guide outlet at an angle of 15-80° with the axis of rotation and its following feeding in a curved concave path with rotation at an angle of 80-90° with the axis of wire-rod guide rotation, in this case speed of wire-rod guide rotation is varied with respect to the following ratio: ? ? ? ? ? 0.

  • Patent number: 6913216
Abstract: The invention involves a holding mechanism located between and pivoting at two points, the first point at the rotor, and the second point at a location found on the primary bracket. In addition, the invention allows for the holding mechanism and the trip mechanism to be efficiently positioned on the primary bracket side of the rotor such that there are only a limited number of components remaining on the other side of the rotor, thus allowing for the rotor to be designed into a more complex shape, with a lighter weight and with a better balancing. The seizing or binding force during release of the bail wire mechanism is also reduced, since the bail wire, or other extended feature does not separate the holding and release mechanisms. In addition, the holding mechanism being pivotable between the two pivot points provides a smoother and more trip responsive fishing mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6908074
Abstract: The device enables a switch from the pulley blocks being rigged with one strand to the pulley blocks being rigged with two strands and vice versa. The jib tip has a pulley moveable along its axle between a central position, when the blocks are rigged with one strand, and a lateral position, when the blocks are rigged with two strands. The lifting block, with housing of symmetric shape, comprises a pulley and retractable guide means for the lifting cable. When the blocks are rigged for two strands, the end of the cable is connected to a point of attachment situated on the jib tip, on the opposite side to the lateral position of the pulley. When the blocks are rigged with one strand, the end of the cable is connected to a point of attachment situated on the pulley block. This device for changing the rigging of the blocks applies mainly to luffing cranes.

  • Patent number: 6908054
Abstract: A braking apparatus for a fishing reel. The braking apparatus includes a braking assembly. A contacting structure surrounds the braking assembly. A plurality of braking elements are slidably located within the braking assembly. The braking elements slidably move from a retracted position to an extended position. In the extended position, the braking elements make braking contact with the contacting structure. Each braking element has a protuberance that extends into an indentation on a selector. The selector is adapted to restrict selected braking elements from contacting the contacting structure. By rotating the selector, protuberances on selected braking elements are radially aligned with an outer wall segment of an indentation that is a desired distance from the selector axis and brake assembly axis. Therefore, selected braking elements are restricted from full radial movement, thereby controlling braking by selectively permitting greater or fewer braking elements from contacting the contacting structure.

  • Patent number: 6902132
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for wire winding and fabrication for dynamo-electric machine components such as ferromagnetic armature or stator cores for motors or the like. Wire may be wound onto individual portions of dynamo-electric machine components, which may then be assembled to form complete components. Wire may be wound by steering a rotating flyer or the like in a trajectory that closely follows the surface of the core onto which the wire is being wound. Wire may also be wound by rotating the portions during winding. The same holding members that are used to hold the portions during winding may be used to hold the portions during assembly of the portions into machine components.
