  • Patent number: 7282868
Abstract: An inverter circuit for discharge lamps for multi-lamp lighting in which the value of a negative resistance characteristic of a fluorescent lamp is controlled, and an excessively set reactance is eliminated by causing a shunt transformer to have a reactance exceeding the negative resistance characteristic. Two coils connected to a secondary winding of a step-up transformer of the inverter circuit are arranged and magnetically coupled to each other to form a shunt transformer for shunting current such that magnetic fluxes generated thereby cancel each other out. Discharge lamps are connected to the coils, respectively, with currents flowing therethrough being balanced. Each discharge lamp is lighted because a reactance of an inductance related to the balancing operation which is in an operating frequency of the inverter circuit, exceeds a negative resistance of discharge lamps.

  • Patent number: 7270444
Abstract: A stage lighting lamp unit includes a processor for receiving control data from a remote console. Beam orientation data for the lamp unit is passed to the lamp in the form of the x, y and z co-ordinates of a point in space through which the beam is to pass. The processor divides the required lamp travel into a number of stages dependent on execution duration data sent with the position data, and calculates, for each stage, a new value for pan and tilt angles for the lamp. These values are passed to pan and tilt controlling co-processors which control servo-motors for pan and tilt operation. The lamp unit also incorporates a rotatable shutter for interrupting the lamp beam when required. The shutters of all the lamps in a system can be instructed from the remote console to open and close in synchronism, thereby providing a stroboscopic effect.

  • Patent number: 7262563
Abstract: A method and apparatus used to step and correct the position of raster lines in a sinusoidal or zig-zag deflection system. By combining the magnetic flux generated with a rotation “twister” coil and a vertical deflection coil, scan lines can be uniformly spaced and separated nearly to their ends. Accordingly, the magnetic flux generated with the twister coil is adjusted going in the left to right direction then reversed in polarity and readjusted while returning from right to left. It is this controlled twister flux that combines with the linear vertical deflection flux to straighten and then step each scan line to produce an aligned raster.

  • Patent number: 7242151
Abstract: The invention describes a multiple lamp balance transformer and a drive circuit. The multiple lamp balance transformer has two magnetic cores with a closed magnetic flux path and two coils wound around the closed magnetic flux path. The two coils have the same number of windings. The impedance property of the coil and Lenz's Law are used to balance the operating current of the lamps connected to the coils. The drive circuit has a multiple lamp balance transformer connected to several lamps, and a boost transformer uses a controller to supply the current and voltage to the lamps. A current detect/protect circuit connected to the coils and the controller detects the current passing through the coils and converts the operating current of the lamp into a voltage to be sent to the controller, so that the controller controls and provides sufficient power to the lamps.

  • Patent number: 7227313
Abstract: The invention provides a tool to select reliable organic LED devices, where the risk for failure before the end of its lifetime is low. This tool comprises the steps of: i) subjecting the device to a high electric field over the electroluminescent layer. This leads to a division of the devices into two, clearly separated, populations, namely one population with a low leakage current (current through the electroluminescent layer in reverse voltage operation) and one population with a high leakage current. In this step, the first population is selected in accordance with a current criterion. ii) detecting instabilities in the leakage current, referred to as noise. It has been established that these instabilities arise in particular at reverse driving voltages between 1 and 10 Volts. These instabilities are a measure of the occurrence of early failures during operation. In this step, the devices are selected in accordance with a noise criterion.
