  • Patent number: 7045978
Abstract: A multi-channel induction accelerator (MIAC) comprised of the injector block, the drive source, the output device, and the multi-channel induction acceleration block. The latter is made in the form of an aggregate of one-channel linear induction acceleration blocks (including those which are oriented parallel one to other), each of which is made in the form of a sequence of the linearly connected acceleration sections, each of which, in turn, is made in the form of one or a few magnetic inductors enveloped by a conductive screen. Therein, at least one of the conductive screens is made in such a manner that it envelops at least two acceleration sections, which belong to different one-channel linear induction acceleration blocks. The invention allows to increase electric voltage in acceleration spaces of the acceleration sections without increasing the current strength in the inductors winding, and to increase efficiency of the accelerator.

  • Patent number: 6984942
Abstract: An ion source design and manufacturing techniques allows longitudinal cathode expansion along the length of the anode layer source (ALS). Cathode covers are used to secure the cathode plates to the source body assembly of an ion source. The cathode covers allow the cathode plate to expand along the longitudinal axis of the ion source, thereby relieving the stress introduced by differential thermal expansion. In addition, the cathode cover configuration allows for less expensive cathode plates, including modular cathode plates. Such plates can be adjusted relative to the cathode-cathode gap to prolong the life of a given cathode plate and maintain source performance requirements. A cathode plate in a linear section of an ion source has symmetrical edges and can, therefore, be flipped over to exchange the first (worn) cathode edge with the second (unworn) cathode edge.

  • Patent number: 6963317
Abstract: A radio frequency identification (RFID) tag antenna system includes a planar two arm logarithmic spiral antenna with a suitably small form factor. There are two arms are of conductive foils or etched copper plating on a substrate the extend outwardly from a center in a logarithmic fashion. The two arms are identical to each other but rotated in the plane by 180 degrees. The arms also grow proportionally in width as they extend outward, but at any given distance from the center the width of both arms are equal to each other and, preferably, equal to the spaces between the arms. An impedance matching network receives the RF signal received by the dual spiral antenna and feed the RF signal to an electronic circuit that rectifies and multiplies the signal to form a DC signal that charges a capacitor.

  • Patent number: 6956336
Abstract: An integrated circuit provides a complete electronic ballast control with power factor correction for fluorescent lamps. The integrated circuit contains a simplified power factor correction (PFC) circuit to reduce component count and supply voltage requirements to reduce manufacturing costs while providing a robust control. The PFC circuit has a variable gain for fast response at high gain and optimized power factor control at low gain. An increased on time for the PFC switch when the input line voltage approaches zero dynamically reduces crossover distortion, thereby reducing total harmonic distortion. The integrated circuit incorporates a number of fault protections.

  • Patent number: 6956332
Abstract: A display device comprises row (5) and column (6) electrodes and a movable element (3) and means (17) for supplying voltages to the electrodes, wherein the row electrodes are situated on the movable element. The means supply, in operation, such voltages to the electrodes that use is made of the memory effect of the movable element. More in particular, the row electrodes are, in operation, supplied with “on”, “off” and “hold” voltages and the column electrodes are supplied with “hold” and ‘off’-voltages. Application of “on” voltages turns on the pixels in a row, simultaneous application of “off” voltages turns a pixel off. Application of a “hold” voltage to either one of the electrodes preserves the status of the pixel.
