Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and method of providing items based on scrolling. An apparatus for processing data of a non-volatile memory according to an aspect of the invention includes a scrolling detecting unit detecting scrolling for one or more items that are displayed on a screen, a screen region control unit dividing the screen into one or more regions according to the detected scrolling, and controlling the sizes of the divided regions, and an item control unit controlling at least one of the sizes and the number of items according to the sizes of the divided regions.

Abstract: An approach is provided for providing content lists using connecting user interface elements. The content-based patching platform causes, at least in part, a rendering of a user interface depicting at least one location-based content list and at least one other location-based content list. Next, the content-based patching platform determines one or more interactions with at least one connecting user interface element to cause, at least in part, an association of the at least one location-based content list with the at least one other location-based content list. Then, the content-based patching platform determines to create at least one mixed content list from the at least one location-based content list, the at least one other location-based content list, or a combination thereof based, at least in part, on the association.

Abstract: A graphical user interface for a computer program, the interface comprising an array of main panes each providing access to a particular aspect of the program, the panes being in register with one another at a vertex corresponding to the area in which all the panes meet, each of the panes being adapted to expand as a pointing device highlights a pane, the expansion of said pane relative to the other panes wherein the panes remain in register with one another at the vertex as a pane expands.

Abstract: An activity stream based interaction model and systems implementing such a model are disclosed. In various embodiments, a text-based tag is recognized in a received communication stream, such as an activity stream. An action indicated by text included in the tag is determined and performed in response to receiving the tag. In some embodiments, a tag to be inserted into the communication stream may be determined automatically by a machine or a process running on a machine, for example a workflow engine.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a technique is provided for using a virtual mouse to interact with an electronic device. The virtual mouse is displayed on a touch screen display of the electronic device. The virtual mouse includes a pointer identifying a position, and a control region positioned proximate to, but offset from, the pointer. The control region includes a movement area for receiving touch input that is mapped to movement of the virtual mouse, and one or more buttons for performing one or more actions related to an item or point located at the identified position. In use, when touch input is received in the movement area of the virtual mouse, the virtual mouse, including the pointer, is moved. When, a button of the one or more buttons is pressed, an action is performed that is related to the item or point located at the identified position.

Abstract: A device provides content for display to a first user device associated with a user, and provides for display, to the first user device, an option to share the content. The device receives a selection of the option from the first user device, and causes a list of contacts, associated with the user, to be presented for display, on the first user device, based on the selection of the option. The device receives, from the first user device, a selection of a contact from the list of contacts, and receives, from the first user device, a message from the user for the selected contact. The device provides for display the message with the content, to the first user device and to a second user device, associated with the selected contact. The message is privately provided to only the first user device and the second user device.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and graphical user interfaces are disclosed that assist a user in deconflicting concurrency conflicts in a peering network in which ambiguous concurrency conflicts can arise. In accordance with some embodiments, a method for assisting a user in deconflicting concurrency conflicts is disclosed. The method includes detecting a plurality of ambiguous data conflicts between the local deployment and the peer deployment. The method further includes providing a graphical user interface to a user at the local deployment that allows the user to filter the plurality of ambiguous data conflicts according to a selected data conflict type of a plurality of predefined data conflict types selectable by the user through the graphical user interface. By providing such as graphical user interface, the user can easily filter a large number (e.g., hundreds) of ambiguous concurrency conflicts that may exist at a given time between the local deployment and the peer deployment.

A computer is provided having software and a storage medium having a plurality of potential user expressions. At least one user screen is in communication with the computer upon which a plurality of potential user expressions are displayable. A plurality of widely spaced apart controls are provided in association with the user screen corresponding to the potential user expressions. When the user wishes to select one of the potential user expressions, the user operates the control that corresponds to the desired potential user expression using gross motor movements. A primary component is image-based for pre-literate users, and a secondary component is character-based for literate users. In the primary component, an operator sends images from which the user chooses. In the secondary component, the user selects characters for a two-dimensional content area.
