Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for setting a block in an electronic device. Content is displayed on a display of the electronic device. The electronic device senses a first touch input on an area for setting the displayed content in the display as a block. The electronic device senses a second touch input while the first touch input is maintained on the area. The electronic device sets at least a part of the content as the block, based on a movement of the second touch input.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a system and method for data collection in a virtual universe. The system can determine a first virtual universe object in a virtual universe comprises a first data source for a first data feed. The system can determine a first trigger event associated with the first data source. The system can determine permission has been granted to access the first data feed. The system can in response to determining permission has been granted to access the first data feed: determine to capture first data from the first data feed in response to a second virtual universe object performing the first trigger event; determine to create a first data feed file comprising the first data and first information related to the second virtual universe object; and determine to transmit the first data feed file to a user device associated with the first virtual universe object.

Abstract: Systems and methods of virtual world interaction, operation, implementation, instantiation, creation, and other functions related to virtual worlds (note that where the term “virtual world” is used herein, it is to be understood as referring to virtual world systems, virtual environments reflecting real, simulated, fantasy, or other structures, and includes information systems that utilize interaction within a 30 environment). Various embodiments facilitate interoperation between and within virtual worlds, and may provide consistent structures for operating virtual worlds. The disclosed embodiments may further enable individuals to build new virtual worlds within a framework, and allow third party users to better interact with those worlds.

Abstract: A method and system for providing information that enables easier and quicker access to an item related to a context of a device, and a computer-readable recording medium thereof are provided. The method includes detecting a context of a device, and displaying at least one virtual space corresponding to the detected context on a screen of the device. The virtual space is a Graphic User Interface (GUI) that is configured to register the detected context and information related to at least one item.

Abstract: A first message may be displayed within a main chat room. The first message may be associated with a first topic. A second message may be displayed below the first message. The second message may be associated with a second topic. A third message may be received. The third message may be determined to be associated with the first topic. In response to the determining, the third message may be displayed by offsetting the third message below the first message, wherein the third message is displayed above the second message. The offsetting the third message below the first message may indicate a hierarchical relationship between the first message and the third message.

Abstract: In an electronic shopping mall system (1), a receiving unit (1302) receives a content containing a higher-precedence material sent by a sending unit (1301). A display controller (1303) displays the content received by the receiving unit (1302) on a screen. The display controller (1303) displays, in response to an occurrence of an event, a pop-up on the screen in a manner superimposed on the content. In addition, when the higher-precedence material displayed on the screen is hidden by the pop-up, the display controller (1303) disposes an alternative material within the pop-up, and displays the alternative material on the screen. An executing unit (1305) executes a process associated with the higher-precedence material or the alternative material.

Abstract: Techniques for haptic effect on a touch input surface are described. Generally, haptic effects are provided for different user interactions with a touch input surface, such gestures applied to a touch pad and/or a touchscreen to interact with applications, services, system-level functionalities (e.g., operating system user interfaces), and so forth. According to various implementations, haptic effects can be output based on visual and/or functional attributes of a particular device environment, and/or based on attributes of a gesture used to apply touch input.

Abstract: An embodiment provides a method, including: detecting, at an electronic device, a command input using a first modality; detecting, at the electronic device, a selecting input using a different modality; combining, using a processor, the command input and the selecting input into an application formatted command; and providing the application formatted command to an application running on the electronic device for execution. The method includes receiving a first gesture operation on a touch display region of an electronic device, when a first application interface of a first application installed in the electronic device is displayed in the touch display region; determining whether the first gesture operation satisfies a first predetermined condition or not; generating a first sub interface to be displayed in a first sub region of the touch display region and a second sub interface to be displayed in a second sub region of the touch display region when it is determined that the first gesture operation satisfies the first predetermined condition; and displaying the first sub interface in the first sub region, and displaying the second sub interface in the second sub region.

Abstract: Systems and methods for a volumetric multi-selection interface for selecting multiple entities in three-dimensional (3D) space are provided. An example method includes generating a selection region within a three-dimensional space and receiving a selection path user input to define a selection path. The method also includes defining a selection volume based on the selection region and the selection path and selecting entities within the 3D space based on the selection volume. In some implementations, an alter selection region user input is received while the selection path is being defined. The size or shape of the selection region may be altered in response thereto.

Abstract: According to an embodiment, when authoring an IMP, a designer may utilize an authoring tool to edit the visual and audio content associated with particular nodes. Further, in an embodiment, a designer may utilize an authoring tool to manipulate blocks corresponding to nodes of the IMP. For example, the authoring tool may include a library of stencils that the designer can utilize to create blocks corresponding to nodes of the IMP. In an embodiment, a designer may link the blocks to create a flow or tree establishing an ordered relationship between the blocks. A set of rules and/or facts may be generated based on the blocks and the designed flow. During IMP presentation, a rules engine may operate to activate nodes of the IMP based on the generated rules and/or facts.

A designated portion of a displayed page is assigned as a thumbnail display area for displaying sets of image representations as graphical thumbnails in a thumbnail array. The thumbnails represent a category of items. Each thumbnail represents an item in the category of items. Each thumbnail is embedded with a link to an information packet describing the item with various information elements. In response to a first thumbnail in the thumbnail array being tentatively selected by a viewer, a predetermined information element in a first information packet linked to the first thumbnail is temporally displayed on a first different display area. The predetermined information element includes a larger and higher resolution image than the first thumbnail.

The zones may be associated with respective user interaction capabilities. A representation of a user on the display may change as the ability of the user to interact with one or more virtual object changes.

Abstract: The systems and methods described herein are directed to graphical user interfaces presenting resource consumption analytics. Resource usage is provided in a graphical user interface indicating current resource consumption and/or historical resource consumption. Weather data and a cumulative running total can be provided along with the resource consumption data to clearly provide a deep understanding of resource usage and operating conditions. Further, resource consumption information from multiple monitoring locations may be juxtaposed and/or presented simultaneously to provide an indication of outlying usage consumption among similarly situated monitoring locations. The graphical user interfaces may be provided with alerts, alarms, thereby reporting and alerting to an end-user via multiple delivery mechanisms, of potential sources of resource waste or loss.

Abstract: Described herein is a framework for facilitating user interface development. In accordance with one aspect, a trigger for creating a native user interface element for a target platform based on a user interface context is received from a client system. The native user interface element may be instantiated and initialized, along with an associated native control. The user interface context with the native user interface element may then be returned to the client system.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, article of manufacture, and a memory structure for conveniently providing animated bitmap image files from media is described. The method uses a technique in which a plurality of PNG files are generated and transmitted to be presented to the user via an overlay to a media program player.
