Abstract: A media asset recommendation service is described. In embodiments, friends of a user are identified in a social graph that is associated with the user, and interactions with media assets by the friends of the user are compiled. Friend interaction data for each of the media assets can be determined from the media assets, the social graph, and the interactions with the media assets by the friends of the user. When a selection of one of the media assets is received from the user via a user device, the friend interaction data that is associated with the media asset selected by the user is communicated to the user device.

Abstract: A presentation application for framing objects, such as images and videos, is provided. Using the presentation application, the user may select a frame from a plurality of available frames. The presentation application may mask portions of the displayed object that would lie outside of the selected frame before displaying the selected frame. The presentation application may provide an interface that allows the user to adjust the size of the frame and the object. The presentation application may automatically adjust the size of the frame when the size of the object is changed, and vice versa.

Abstract: A wireless communications device provides users with opportunities to access interactive media guidance or other applications and to control interactive media guidance applications running on user equipment. The wireless communications device may have a touch-sensitive screen with controls that are coordinated with the features of the interactive media guidance or other applications. The wireless communications device may function as a remote controller for user equipment.

Abstract: A graphical user interface for a concurrent computing environment that conveys the concurrent nature of a computing environment and allows a user to monitor the status of a concurrent process being executed on multiple concurrent computing units is discussed. The graphical user interface allows the user to target specific concurrent computer units to receive commands. The graphical user interface also alters the command prompt to reflect the currently targeted concurrent computing units.

Abstract: Systems, methods and computer readable media are disclosed for gesture input beyond skeletal. A user's movement or body position is captured by a capture device of a system. Further, non-user-position data is received by the system, such as controller input by the user, an item that the user is wearing, a prop under the control of the user, or a second user's movement or body position. The system incorporates both the user-position data and the non-user-position data to determine one or more inputs the user made to the system.

Abstract: An aspect of the present invention relates to methods and systems involving receiving a request for web content from a client computing facility, presenting the web content, and retrieving an indicia of a reputation assessment of the web content and delivering the indicia to the client computing facility in coordination with delivery of the web content to the client computing facility.

Abstract: A scroll viewer control that displays associated content having inertial snap points in a scrollable view. The scroll viewer control applies inertial movement to displayed content such that even after a user completes a scroll gesture, the displayed content continues to scroll with reducing velocity until the scroll slows to a stop within the scrollable view. In so doing, the scroll viewer control enforces an inertial snap point by causing the scroll to stop when a boundary of the scrollable view coincides with the inertial snap point. A content control may implements an interface that allows the scroll viewer control to discover the snap point set associated with the content. Furthermore, the content control may notify the scroll viewer control of changes in the snap point set.

Abstract: Systems and methods of visualizing capacitance sensing system operation. A graphical user interface for visualizing capacitance sensing system operation includes a first window. The window includes a representation of a physical layout of a plurality of sensor devices on a target apparatus. The graphical user interface is operable to accept input from a pointing device to select a selected sensor from the plurality of sensor devices. A second window is for displaying capacitive sensing data of the selected sensor.

Abstract: A user interface for an audio/visual device incorporates one or both of a touch sensor having a touch surface on which is defined a racetrack surface having a ring shape and a display element on which is displayed a racetrack menu also having a ring shape, and where the user interface incorporates both, the ring shapes of the racetrack surface and the racetrack menu are structured to generally correspond such that the position of a marker on the racetrack menu is caused to correspond to the position at which a digit of a user's hand touches the racetrack surface.

Abstract: In one embodiment the present invention includes a computer implemented method of adding user interface elements within an application program. The method includes generating a user interface layout having user interface elements and database connections, where the database connections relate the user interface elements to a database. The method further includes generating a selection layout having element groups, where each of the element groups includes a first element and a second element that are spatially related. The method further includes receiving a user selection of a selected element group of the element groups, and generating the user interface layout having the user interface elements, where the user interface elements now includes the selected element group. In this manner, the user interface layout may be efficiently adjusted.

Abstract: A method is illustrated that comprises receiving at least two states, each state including at least one object with an associated property. Further, the method includes comparing each object of each state to produce a set of differences between states. Additionally, the method includes defining a transition based upon the set of differences.

Abstract: In an electronic device capable of running multiple software applications concurrently, applications, documents, cards, or other activities can be selected for hibernation so as to free up system resources for other activities that are in active use. A determination is made as to which activities should hibernate, for example based on a determination as to which activities have not been used recently or based on relative resource usage. When an activity is to hibernate, its state is preserved on a storage medium such as a disk, so that the activity can later be revived in the same state and the user can continue with the same task that was being performed before the activity entered hibernation.

Abstract: Systems and techniques to provide for software installation. In general, in one implementation, the technique includes detecting selection of one or more applications by a user; creating a manifest for the one or more applications, the manifest including a reference to the one or more applications and a reference to one or more installers, where each of the one or more applications is associated with a unique one of the one or more installers; and providing the manifest to a target system where each of the one or more applications can be installed, none of the applications or installers being provided in the manifest.

Abstract: Techniques for manipulating graphic objects in response to gestures provided with a user interface device are disclosed. The technique includes indicating when a gesture associated with the graphics objects is to use a determined action. Others gestures are locked out from using the determined action with other graphic objects. Graphic objects are manipulated on the display based on the indication that the gesture associated with one of the graphics objects is to use the determined action.

Abstract: A method for switching wallpaper in screen lock state, a mobile electronic device thereof, and a storage medium thereof are provided. In the present method, an input signal is received by a touch screen when a mobile electronic device enters a screen lock state. Then, whether the input signal is located in a specific area of the touch screen is determined. A moving track of the input signal is detected if the input signal is located in the specific area. Finally, wallpaper of the screen lock state is switched according to the moving track. As a result, a user can switch wallpaper arbitrarily even if the mobile electronic device is in the screen lock state, so as to increase convenience of switching wallpaper.

Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a method for indicating hierarchy of objects in a graphical user interface (GUI) of a computer system. The method uses a first color to display a first set of objects at a first level of the hierarchy. The method then uses a second color, different from the first color, to display a second set of objects at a second level of the hierarchy. The first and second colors are two different colors in the visible light spectrum in some embodiments, while they are two different shades of the same color in other embodiments.

Abstract: A user acquires a data item 36 in a mobile device 2, the data item representing, for example, the right to a digital asset. A web page 34 including bar code symbol 40 is displayed on the display 26 of a further device such as a PC 14. The bar code symbol codes a location of a resource. The mobile device 2 reads the bar code symbol 40 and sends data from the data item to the resource at the location coded by the bar code symbol. The further device 14 subsequently carries out an action using the data-item data received at the resource, or associated data; for example, the further device uses the data to fetch a related digital asset. In one embodiment the location coded by the bar code symbol is that of a database record uniquely associated with the symbol. In another embodiment, the location coded by the bar code symbol is the address on a local network of the further device 14.

Abstract: A system and method is provided to assist a user in selecting, identifying, and handling email messages. A selection color module may provide for the display of color coding and selection highlighting. The selection color module may provide a secondary highlighting color to indicate messages related to a selected message. A category navigation module may provide one or more of the following: an indicator that provides the user with a number of items that are off the screen for a particular category, a command that causes the first entry for a category to be scrolled into view, a label to indicate the number of items in a particular category matching a particular criteria, and/or a control for scrolling between next or previous categories.
