Abstract: A system and method are provided for generating one or more menus having options that display insights from visualizations. The options presented in the menus enable users to determine relationships between elements of the visualization. The relationships may be displayed textually to enable user to navigate the menus using a keyboard, a text-to-voice converter, and/or pointers.

Abstract: A device displays, on a screen, a graphical window from a sequence of graphical windows, where the graphical window includes a group of display elements. The device also receives a user input to the graphical window and identifies a type of the user input, where the type of the user input includes a horizontal input or a vertical input. The device displays, on the screen, another graphical window from the sequence of graphical windows when the type of user input is a horizontal input and scrolls through a stack of the display elements within the graphical window when the type of user input is a vertical input.

Abstract: When a set of screen elements are identified as a family a bounded extent is placed around the identified elements. Items can be automatically grouped based on their association with a set of data defined in a DBMS as a family, for example. When one of the elements within the group is moved, the extent automatically resizes to a new geometry that fits around each of the elements within the group. If an element within the group is moved against the extent and then extended beyond the boundaries of the extent, the extent automatically resizes to cover a bigger area; if an element within the group that is against the extent is moved inside the boundary of the extent, the extent automatically resizes to cover a smaller area. It is possible to nest a set of these extensible groups within a single extensible group thereby providing maximum flexibility while still maintaining optimal flexibility.

Abstract: A mechanism for constructing a software-based instrument panel or front panel in which the components correspond directly with sections of code in a textual language program is disclosed. The textual language program relates to how the panel updates and operates in a continuous fashion. Icons representing panel components are selected from a component library window displayed to a user. The act of dragging the icon representing the components into the Graphical Panel Layout Window automatically causes the corresponding code to be added to the textual language program and displayed to the user in a Program Dialog Window. The present invention displays both a Graphical Panel Layout Window showing the components in the instrument panel and a Program Dialog Window showing the lines of code for the textual language program controlling the operation of the components in the instrument panel. A library containing I/O dialog devices is also presented and displayed to a user.

Abstract: In one of many possible examples, a system includes a media content processing subsystem configured to successively display a plurality of history tabs configured to graphically represent and facilitate access to a corresponding plurality of hierarchical representations within a browsing thread. The media content processing subsystem is further configured to collapse at least two of the history tabs into an expandable history tab after a pre-determined number of the history tabs are displayed. The expandable history tab is configured to graphically represent and facilitate access to a plurality of the hierarchical representations within the browsing thread.

Abstract: A presentation application for framing objects, such as images and videos, is provided. Using the presentation application, the user may select a frame from a plurality of available frames. The presentation application may mask portions of the displayed object that would lie outside of the selected frame before displaying the selected frame. The presentation application may provide an interface that allows the user to adjust the size of the frame and the object. The presentation application may automatically adjust the size of the frame when the size of the object is changed, and vice versa.

Abstract: Configuration of user interfaces is described. In an implementation, a method includes receiving a query from a device. The query is for a user interface (UI) from a client. The UI, when executed by the device, is configured to form a request for execution of a control function by the client. A processing of the request determines whether the execution by the client of the control function is permitted. The processing is performed at a head end by using client state data. The hardware and/or software capabilities of the device to execute the UI are detected. The UI is configured based on the hardware and/or software capabilities of the device.

Abstract: Objects on a web page are associated with stored records indicating historical object usage. Associations between objects and records take into account discrepancies in object identifiers resulting from authorial edits and/or differences in browser assignment of object identifiers. An object having an object identifier that differs from that of a stored record by not more than a predetermined tolerance value, and that has other indicia that match the stored record, is considered to match the stored record. Reports are generated quantifying web page object usage, for example by superimposing color shadings or other visual indicia on a representation of a web page.

Abstract: Methods of and devices for inserting a pictorial artifact into a text document are described. A relational database is used to link possible text-entries with pictorial artifacts. A pictorial artifact has a meaning that corresponds to its linked possible text-entry. When text is entered, the database is searched to determine whether a match exists between the entered text and one of the possible text-entries in the database. If a match is found, the linked pictorial artifact is provided to the user for selection and entry into the text document. The pictorial artifacts may be modified, and modified artifacts may be used in a search of the database to locate linked text-entries, in order to permit the user to select alternate text.

Abstract: The system enables a user to select and order media objects, such as sound files, image files, animations, and text into a media presentation. The media presentation is then associated with a trigger or other interrupt event. Upon an occurrence of the event, the system plays the media presentation on system output devices. In one example of the system, the selected media files, ordering information, and other properties are assembled into a media package. The media package may be published to a remote device so that a remote device may play the media presentation.

Abstract: A concept for providing hierarchical navigation information relative to one or more databases within a distributed computer system is described. In one aspect, this includes a process for hierarchically organizing bodies of information that includes: receiving a query from a user, abstracting a list of descriptors from one or more sources of information selected based on the query, organizing the list according to an hierarchy of nodes referenced in the one or more sources of information and providing information configured to facilitate displaying a graphical user interface illustrating the hierarchy and having user programmable server control classes for accession of nodes in the hierarchy.

Further, the electronic apparatus includes: an initial value storing unit storing initial values set/changed regarding the plurality of setting items; and an initialization processing unit returning the parameter of the specified setting item to the initial value based on an operation of the initialization icon.

Abstract: System and a method by means of which different windows of an Multi Document Interface (MDI) application can be displayed at the same time within an application on several screens. In addition, instances of the source frame of the MDI application are displayed on further screens and the windows of the application with the corresponding documents can then be displayed in the sequence frame instances of the MDI application. In this way, the display of the parallel side-by-side arrangement of several windows on several screens is possible, the resolution of the window being adapted to the screen resolution.

Abstract: The present invention provides provide GUI-type server scripting explorer that allows a user to browse, invoke, and update via its GUI all kinds of management objects available on a server. The explorer embeds a command interpreter through which the user can invoke server scripting commands directly from within the tool. All the actions that the user performed can be recorded to a file to build a server configuration script that can be used to repeat the same actions to config the server in the future. Abstract: A medical imaging apparatus for generating medical information includes an input unit, a processor, and a display. The input unit is operated by a user and is configured to input an instruction. The processor is configured to process a first part of display information relating to the medical information based on the instruction so that the first part is displayed in a differentiable manner from others of the display information. The display is configured to display the processed first part and the others of the display information.

Abstract: A computer program product for use with text transcribed from audio information, the computer program product residing on a computer-readable medium, includes computer-readable instructions for causing a computer to: enable defined keystroke combinations for use in editing the text transcribed from audio, the defined keystroke combinations corresponding to formatting functions identified as frequently-used functions during editing of a transcribed text; and respond to an activated keystroke combination by replacing a first format in the text document with a second format corresponding to the chosen keystroke combination.

Abstract: A device, system, and method are directed towards enabling a user to disambiguate an identity of a member included in a user's social network (USN), and towards enabling an operation to be performed based on information about the member. The USN is determined. The namespace identifier (NID) of the member is received. If the NID is non-unique within the USN, member distinctions are determined for members in the USN who are associated with the same NID. The member distinctions are sent to the user. The user makes a selection of one of the members associated with one of the member distinctions. Based on the selection, information about the selected member is received. The operation is enabled to be performed based on the information about the selected member. The operation may include addressing the selected member, enabling a communication between the user and the selected member, or the like.

Abstract: A system and method for monitoring computer applications comprising an application component table comprising a plurality of applications and application functions, wherein the applications comprise data identifying a functional status of the applications; a processor adapted to analyze the functional status of the applications based on the data; and a single status board user interface adapted to display the functional status of the applications, wherein the processor is adapted to predict when a running time of an application will be completed. The processor is adapted to determine whether the application functions fail when the applications are running; diagnose a cause of failure of the application functions; and indicate the cause of failure to a user. The processor is adapted to reconciliate information across processes supporting the applications. The system and method is adapted to send alerts to the single status board user interface of errors found in the processes.

Abstract: A system is provided to assist a user in selecting, identifying, and handling email messages. A selection color module may provide for the display of color coding and selection highlighting. The selection color module may provide a secondary highlighting color to indicate messages related to a selected message. A category navigation module may provide one or more of the following: an indicator that provides the user with a number of items that are off the screen for a particular category, a command that causes the first entry for a category to be scrolled into view, a label to indicate the number of items in a particular category matching a particular criteria, and/or a control for scrolling between next or previous categories.
