  • Patent number: 9125220
Abstract: A radio network controller includes an acquisition unit configured to acquire a radio communication state of a neighboring cell located around a cell formed by a base station which the mobile station camps on among base stations, and a level determination unit configured to determine the in-out reception level based on an acquisition result of the radio communication state by the acquisition unit. The level determination unit calculates an estimated reception level of the radio channel in a reception level tie point P in which the reception level of the radio channel transmitted by a base station 200 and the reception of the radio channel transmitted by a target base station 202 become substantially equal to each other, and determines the in-out reception level based on the calculated estimated reception level ?.

  • Patent number: 9060258
Abstract: A method and system that support re-establishing a dropped call or communication is disclosed. A terminal may publish its parameters to other terminals through in-band or out-of-band signaling. Token values may then be determined by a weighted sum of parameters, where the terminal having the largest weighted sum possesses the token. If the call or communication drops, the terminal possessing the token then initiates communication to the other terminals. In addition, a plurality of tokens may be used when there are more than two terminals in a call. The terminals may be partitioned into groups, where one of the terminals in each group possesses a token.

  • Patent number: 9037123
Abstract: Mobile devices may be subject to different operational constraints in different geographies or circumstances. For example, power levels may be limited for transmissions in certain countries. The geographic position of a mobile device may be identified and used for determining the applicable local regulations. The local regulations may allow for different operational constraints depending on whether a device is located indoors or outdoors. Accordingly, a determination of indoor/outdoor state may be used to maximize device performance while also complying with appropriate regulations/circumstances.

  • Patent number: 9008657
Abstract: A user's context is determined based on the wireless network to which the user is connected. Targeted information, based on the determined context, is then delivered to the user. A centralized mechanism associates identifiers of wireless access points to one or more providers, such as retail establishments, that have set up those access points and have been registered by the centralized mechanism. The providers also provide targeted information that they wish to have delivered to users whose context indicates that they are in or near that provider's store. The centralized mechanism further has information associating the wireless computing device with contact information that can be utilized to deliver targeted information. The targeted information can be delivered to the user via the wireless network, a cellular network or through other communicational mechanisms. The provider, or retail establishment, can also be informed of the presence of the user near its premises.

  • Patent number: 9008679
Abstract: The present invention enables a high load to a mobile station and an uplink overhead to be reduced when a CQI measurement of a PRB needed for scheduling or adaptive modulation is informed of. At a base station, a set of PRBs (an active set) for which the measurements of CQIs are to be informed of is decided for each mobile station. Each mobile station measures only CQIs of the PRBs that form the active set designated by the base station and informs the base station of the measurements. That can reduce the load on the mobile station and also reduce the amount of information for informing the CQIs, thus, the uplink overhead can be also reduced.

  • Patent number: 9002358
Abstract: An access point is identified based on a plurality of pilot signatures. Here, in addition to transmitting a pilot signal that is encoded (e.g., spread/scrambled) using a particular pilot signature, an access point transmits a message that includes at least one indication of at least one other pilot signature. For example, an access point may use one PN offset to generate a pilot signal and transmit a message that identifies at least one other PN offset. An access terminal that receives the pilot signal and the message may then generate a pilot report that identifies all of these pilot signatures. Upon receiving a handover message including this pilot-related information, a target network entity with knowledge of the pilot signatures assigned to that access point may then accurately identify the access point as a target for handover of the access terminal.
