  • Patent number: 9901294
Abstract: The subject device and associated system relates generally to assessing impairment of an individual to determine whether to provide access to operate a motor vehicle, providing an ignition interlock that works without requiring modification in a motor vehicle and allowing an individual to start the vehicle only following measurement of blood alcohol content or following a series of cognitive tasks to determine the level of impairment. The systems and devices described herein relate incorporate a shielded case designed to disable communication between wireless car keys and the corresponding motor vehicles. This method of achieving an ignition interlock can be combined with a breathalyzer, or with a fingerprint alcohol sensor, or with cognitive tests running on a mobile computing device.

  • Patent number: 9900205
Abstract: Apparatus and methods disclosed herein perform gain, clipping, and phase compensation in the presence of I/Q mismatch in quadrature RF receivers. Gain and phase mismatch are exacerbated by differences in clipping between I & Q signals in low resolution ADCs. Signals in the stronger channel arm are clipped differentially more than weaker signals in the other channel arm. Embodiments herein perform clipping operations during iterations of gain mismatch calculations in order to balance clipping between the I and Q channel arms. Gain compensation coefficients are iteratively converged, clipping levels are established, and data flowing through the network is gain and clipping compensated. A compensation phase angle and phase compensation coefficients are then determined from gain and clipping compensated sample data. The resulting phase compensation coefficients are applied to the gain and clipping corrected receiver data to yield a gain, clipping, and phase compensated data stream.

  • Patent number: 9895111
Abstract: An alarm notification apparatus includes an event detector for monitoring vital information of a body, such as a blood pressure and electrocardiogram, to check whether an anomalous event has occurred to the body. A reliability evaluator evaluates reliability of a result of detection of the anomalous event in the event detector. A notifier selects at least one addressee according to the reliability among plural predetermined addressees, and notifies the selected addressee of occurrence of the anomalous event. Preferably, a storage area is used for storing error log data expressing a false detection of an anomalous event in spite of non-occurrence of an anomalous event. Assuming that the event detector detects the anomalous event, the reliability evaluator obtains the reliability according to the error log data. Thus, it is possible to reduce influence of the false detection due to measurement artifact.

  • Patent number: 9889796
Abstract: An alarm controller generates an alarm output instruction when an own vehicle state determination unit determines that an own vehicle intends to cross the opposite lane at an intersection, and the object state determination unit determines that an oncoming vehicle or a person exists or moves in a direction in which the own vehicle crosses the opposite lane at into the intersection. A shift position detector detects a shift lever position. When the shift position detector detects that a shift lever is in a parking position or a reverse position, the alarm controller does not generate the alarm output instruction.

  • Patent number: 9890849
Abstract: An electronic gear shifter is described herein that provides tactile feedback imitating the tactile feedback generated by a manual transmission shifter. The shifter includes a tactile feedback mechanism having a base, a pivot through the base, one or more springs coupled to the base, and first and second detents. The base rotates about the pivot, whereas the springs resist rotations of the base from, and return the base to, and equilibrium position. The first detent resists rotation of the base from the equilibrium position. The second detent resists further rotation of the base past the first detent and away from the equilibrium position. Rotation of the base past the first and second detents imitates manual transmission tactile feedback, and rotation of the base past the second detent also closes one or more of the electronic switches.

  • Patent number: 9889797
Abstract: An intersection information acquisition unit acquires detection information by an object detection sensor including at least one of a vehicle detection sensor and a human detection sensor. A support processor performs driving support processing for outputting an alarm when the support processor determines that an own vehicle intends to cross the opposite lane and determines based on the acquired detection information that an object exists or the object is approaching in a direction in which the own vehicle travels to cross the opposite lane at the intersection. The support processor performs the driving support processing when the intersection information acquisition unit acquires detection information by the vehicle detection sensor. On the other hand, the support processor does not perform the driving support processing when the intersection information acquisition unit acquires detection information by the human detection sensor and does not acquire detection information by the vehicle detection sensor.
