Abstract: A system includes a gateway that is configured to receive a message from a source for transmission to a destination and multiple communication channels on which to transmit the message to the destination, where the communication channels include different types of communication channels. The system includes a decision engine that is operably coupled to the gateway and the communication channels. The decision engine is configured to select a first communication channel from the communication channels to route the message for transmission to the destination. The decision engine is configured to select a second communication channel from the communication channels to route the message for transmission to the destination in response to a period of time expiring without receiving an acknowledgement from the destination via the first communication channel, where the second communication channel is a different type of communication channel than the first communication channel.

Abstract: Methods and systems for controlling a passive driver impairment detection system in a vehicle are provided. The method and system detect states of vehicle component operating systems and/or vehicle occupant monitoring systems and control activation and deactivation of the impairment detection system in response. The methods and systems enable a proactive transition from an inactive state to an active state by detecting the presence of an individual within or approaching the vehicle or an intent of the individual to approach the vehicle in order to overcome a significant functional latency in the impairment detection system. The methods and system further enable a transition from the active state to the inactive state by using multiple systems to corroborate the absence of the individual within or approaching the vehicle and the lack of intent of the individual to approach the vehicle.
Abstract: A method for detecting drowning is disclosed. The method includes steps of: collecting a plurality of detection signals; recording the plurality of detection signals and determining whether a drowning is happening or not by calculating and analyzing each of the detection signals; and sending out a drowning signal K when it is determined from all of the detection signals that the drowning is happening. A device for detecting drowning is further disclosed. An intelligent and quick detection for drowning situation is achieved, and an accuracy of drowning detection is improved, since the plurality of detection signals sent by a plurality of sensors worn by a drowner are detected.
Abstract: An apparatus including a building information model (BIM) of a secured area having a plurality of different portions, the BIM embodied in a memory, a processor that identifies portions of the secured area having different levels of security and a processor that alerts a user of a security weakness based upon an interaction between the security levels and physical characteristics of the secured area defined by the BIM.

Abstract: A method for alertness control of a vehicle operator includes obtaining, by an apparatus, physiological status data of a person acquired using at least one sensor including at least a biosignal sensor; determining, based on at least the physiological status data, at least one alertness value being indicative of alertness level of the person; determining, by comparing the at least one alertness value to at least one alertness reference value, whether the alertness level of the person is below a threshold alertness level for operating the vehicle; and as a response to the determining that the alertness level is below the threshold alertness level, causing an output of a control signal.

Abstract: A method for resetting a high speed medium access control entity includes: receiving a reset instruction sent from a radio network controller, where the reset instruction includes reset indication information of a cell; and determining a to-be-reset cell according to the reset indication information, and resetting a high speed medium access control entity for the to-be-reset cell.
Abstract: An OFDM system generates a channel estimate in the time domain for use in either a frequency domain equalizer or in a time domain equalizer. Preferably channel estimation is accomplished in the time domain using a locally generated reference signal. The channel estimator generates an initial estimate from a cross correlation between the time domain reference signal and an input signal input to the receiver and generates at least one successive channel estimate. Preferably the successive channel estimate is determined by vector addition (or subtraction) to the initial channel estimate. The at least one successive channel estimate reduces the minimum mean square error of the estimate with respect to a received signal.

Abstract: A clock and data recovery (CDR) system may use one or more clock signals in sync with recovered data rate. By accumulating a dithering tuning counter value at a data oversampling rate, a plurality of single bit signals at multiples of the recovered data rate and in sync with the recovered data rate can be accurately generated while utilizing the full range of the accumulator. This plurality of clock signals can be used in various modules in the CDR system and other modules in a transceiver system incorporating the CDR system.
