The processing apparatus restricts jobs permitted at the time the information terminal is separated from the docking station to a part of jobs permitted at the time the information terminal is mounted on the docking station if the separation between the information terminal and the docking station is detected and the display of the information terminal displays job names permitted at the time the information terminal is separated from the docking station if the separation between the information terminal and the docking station is detected.

Abstract: This disclosure is directed, in part, to providing payment device security by storing security information in a payment device that, when received by a point-of-sale (POS) device, initiates a security request by the POS device that is used to protect the payment device against fraudulent use or misuse by unauthorized people. The payment device may store a code that, when received by the POS device, may allow the POS device to determine a security request associated with the code. The POS device may determine the security request by converting the code locally or the POS device may transit the code to a security provider that returns the security request. The POS device may then implement and/or enforce the security request. In some embodiments, the authorized user of the payment device may specify at least part of the security request, thereby enabling customization the security request.

Abstract: A system and method to use quick response (QR) codes encoded with a bill from a merchant, such as, for example, provided by a restaurant. A code scanner (106) can scan a QR code that encodes a merchant identification code that identifies a merchant. A user can select a payment instrument on the code scanner for paying the bill. The code scanner can transmit to an application server (102) data pertaining to the payment instrument. The code scanner can receive from the application server status data indicating whether the bill was successfully or unsuccessfully paid.

Abstract: A card number and an address are requested from a customer at a POS device. An AVS system compares the customer-provided address against a billing address or record for the card that is maintained by a card issuer. If the address provided by the customer matches the billing address of record, a second card number is requested from customer. That second card number is sent to the AVS system and the billing address stored by the issuer for the second card number is also checked against the address provided by the customer.

The produce weigh station includes a produce scale and a camera. The produce weigh station uses a captured digital image of the produce product to determine a product type of the produce product being weighed, as well as a product status of the produce product. The produce status can include, for example, whether the produce product is ripe, over-ripe, or under-ripe. The produce weigh station communicates the type of the produce product, the digital image, and the produce status to the produce status station. An employee of the retail store can use the produce status station to receive the produce status information without the employee having to be present in the produce sales department.

Abstract: According to exemplary methods, automated image processing of images from order locations of a multi-lane drive-thru system is continually performed using an automated ordering system. It is automatically determined if a vehicle is present at any of the order locations based on the automated image processing. It is automatically determined if an order has been initiated into the automated ordering system. When the order has been initiated while the vehicle is present at any of the order locations, an automated sequencing processing is automatically begun. The automated sequencing processing determines an order pick-up sequence for picking up orders at pickup windows of the multi-lane drive-thru system. When the order has been initiated while the vehicle is not present at any of the order locations, a potential out-of-sequence warning is automatically associated with the order and output from the automated ordering system.
