  • Patent number: 10948283
Abstract: A head-mounted display (HMD) system includes a projector system configured to emit a structured light (SL) pattern onto one or more objects in a local area, the projected SL pattern comprises at least a first SL pattern having a first field of view (FOV) corresponding to a first tileable boundary, and a second SL pattern having a second FOV corresponding to a second tileable boundary. Each of the projected SL patterns contains fiducials at predetermined locations within the SL pattern. An imaging device captures images of the local area including at least portions of the first SL pattern or the second SL patterns. The detected locations of the fiducials in the captured images is used to determine the boundary locations of the first and second SL patterns. Depth information of the local area is generated based upon the determined locations of the first and second SL patterns.

  • Patent number: 10951951
Abstract: Metadata indicating demanded haptic events during playback of an audio video (AV) stream is embedded with the AV stream, such that the metadata can be extracted during AV playback and rendered on the player's side as demanded. In this way, previously recorded video can be spectated during playback without losing whatever haptic experiences may have been generated for original playback without having to rely on merely deriving haptic events from audio.

  • Patent number: 10945011
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of using video program viewer interaction data that has been loaded to a media measurement database as input to a measurement engine which then calculates Linear, DVR, and VOD asset viewing activity at three levels: (a) Video Program, (b) Video Program Airing, (c) Video Program Airing Segment, where each level provides summary metrics for groupings of Demographic, Geographic, and/or Device Characteristic, and also second-by-second viewing metrics, including counting advertising impressions, within the Demographic, Geographic, Device groupings. System also accounts for reduced value of ad viewing when viewer is using trick plays or when viewer delays viewing recorded content. Together these metrics provide detailed information on customer viewing behavior which can be used to drive business decisions for service providers, advertisers, and content producers. Additionally, a viewing histogram analysis is produced.

  • Patent number: 10931998
Abstract: Systems and methods provided herein for intelligently distinguishing between different versions of a media asset and selectively storing those requested media assets that differ from versions that were previously stored in some pre-defined characteristics. These systems and methods, upon identifying a version of the requested media asset was previously stored, determine a characteristic of the requested media asset. These systems and methods compare the characteristic of the requested media asset with a corresponding characteristic of the version of the requested media asset that was previously stored to determine a difference between the two versions. The systems and methods then determine whether the difference in characteristic renders the requested media asset preferable over the previously stored version. Upon determining that the requested media asset is preferable over the previously stored version, the systems and methods store the requested media asset.

  • Patent number: 10911740
Abstract: Systems and methods for mitigating or preventing eye damage from structured light IR/NIR projector systems. When a SL projector with a multi-light-source array that projects a SL pattern onto an object, a first camera images the light pattern projected on the object and optionally provides camera frames viewed by a user. A multi-light-source array controller is configurable to control separately an on or off status and/or an intensity of each light source in the multi-light-source array, and an algorithm is operative to detect in the first camera frames SL pattern elements projected onto the object, to detect the eyes of the user, to compare a position of each projected SL pattern element with a position of the detected eyes, and to send commands to the multi-light-source array controller to turn off or reduce the intensity of array light sources that are projected or likely to be projected onto the user's eyes.

  • Patent number: 10904631
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a computing device that performs an auto-completion process that generates and inserts text of spoken content of a video into a text entry field. By providing quoted content in a text input field, a system can mitigate the need for users to perform the tedious process of listening to spoken content of a video and manually entering the spoken content into a computing device. In some configurations, a system can receive one or more keywords from a user input and identify spoken content containing the keywords. The system can provide text of the spoken content based on a level of relevancy and populate one or more input fields with the text of the spoken content. The generation of auto completion text from spoken content of a video can enhance user interaction with the computer and maximize productivity and engagement with a video-based system.

  • Patent number: 10897653
Abstract: A tap has an input, an output, and first and second tap outputs. A first transmission line extends between the input and the output and includes a low-pass filter. A second transmission line extends between the input and a switch, and includes a directional coupler and a first high-pass filter. An AC/DC converter is coupled to the first transmission line to operate the switch between open and closed conditions, in response to existence and absence of power in the first transmission line, respectively. In the open condition of the switch, the second transmission line is coupled to a resistor and a ground. In the closed condition of the switch, the second transmission line is coupled to a second high-pass filter and the output. A splitter is coupled between the directional coupler and the first and second tap outputs.
