  • Patent number: 4831690
Abstract: A handle for attachment to a carton to facilitate carrying the carton. The elongated handle has the upper end of the leg portion of each of two L-shaped members connected to the same end of the handle so each foot portion of the members projects parallel to the handle. The tip of each of the feet is sharpened to facilitate puncturing the carton. The members are pivotally connected to the handle to allow the members to be collapsed. The sharpened tip of each foot portion tapers downwardly and rearwardly from the end to meet the lower portion of the foot portion at a rocker area about which the foot portion can rock to lower the junction of the foot and leg portions of each member toward the carton after the carton surface has been punctured. This allows the foot portions to run between the surfaces of corrugated cardboard.

  • Patent number: 4829628
Abstract: The present invention covers a door hinge equipped with a damper spring, composed of two cylindrical bodies, kept in place by their anchor plates with the door, respectively the door frame. One of the cylindrical bodies forms a watertight chamber by way of sealing plugs, inside which a piston is mounted, held laterally in the cylinder by longitudinal guides which prevent the piston from rotating. Said piston has a threaded axial bore by which it is mounted on a journal with a wide screw pitch, the journal being the end of an axial shaft which passes through a central perforation in one of the sealing plugs of the watertight chamber. All this is so designed that the turning of the second cylindrical body of the hinge caused by its being fixed to the door by its respective anchor plate, creates a torsion stress in a spring, while at the same time turning the axial shaft in the watertight chamber filled with oil-hydraulic fluid.

  • Patent number: 4825509
Abstract: This invention relates to a kit for reinforcing door hinges and, more specifically, to a two-piece kit for strengthening door hinges that may have come loose. The kit comprises a two-piece hinge repair kit that is adapted for use with standard size doors and with standard size hinges. The first piece of the kit is a rectangular U-shaped bracket having an open side or face. This U-shaped bracket is adapted to fit through its open side around the edge of the door. The sides and roof of this U-shaped structure have apertures to be used as connecting holes for attachment to the door and hinge. The roof has a recessed cutout section containing the holes for alignment with the holes of a hinge. The cutout distance down from the top of the roof should approximate the thickness of one leaf of the hinge. Thus, when the hinge is attached to the U-shaped bracket and door, the top surface is level with the face of the bracket and flush with the face of the roof sides adjacent the cutout portion.

  • Patent number: 4826071
Abstract: The invention broadly comprises forming a weld preparation groove in the surface of a cylindrical roller, said groove being parallel to the longtitudinal axis of the roller. The groove is filled with a weld material. Subsequently, the outer surface of the cylinder is welded with a compatible welding material to coat the cylinder surface. The weld materials both for the groove and the surface are compatible such that when the surface is welded, the weld material in the groove is recast to form a homogeneous grain structure with the surface weld. The slot is then formed and the surfaces of the facing walls of the slot, the slot edges and the roller surface are uniformly coated.

  • Patent number: 4823436
Abstract: In a two-part connecting fixture for connecting parts of a piece of furniture, preferably to a hinge bracket and mounting plate assembly, one of the parts of the fixture is provided with a spring-loaded pivoted lever and the other with an abutment that is interengageable with the lever. The lever and the abutment are respectively provided on confronting surfaces with a beveled or rounded detent flank and with an engaging edge. The lever is arranged to snap to its locking position as the parts are fitted together and are displaced or pivotally moved to a connecting position. The lever is adapted to be released from its locking position by an actuating mechanism. A stop is provided, which during or after the snapping of the lever to its locking position limits the displacement of the parts which are interlocked. A safety mechanism is provided for preventing an unintended release of the interlocked parts.

  • Patent number: 4819296
Abstract: A door safety brace has an upper rod member and a lower rod member pivotally connected by an over-center self-locking hinge which holds the brace in a rigid, substantially rectilinear position when the over-center hinge is in locked position. The upper end of the brace has a curved yoke attached thereto for securing under the handle of a door to be braced and the lower end of the brace has a rubber cup for frictionally engaging the floor. The over-counter locking hinge is formed by fabricating end faces of each hinge member at an angle between 1/2.degree. and 21/2.degree. from a perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of each rod member, thus providing an over-center locking hinge angled at a total angle of between 1.degree. and 5.degree. over-center when the brace is in locked position.
