  • Patent number: 4014274
Abstract: A mattress covering sewing machine includes a pair of upper and lower support plates for supportingly sandwiching therebetween a cushion wrapped with a pair of box-like outer covers. The support plates have outer peripheral portions extending in a manner to correspond to the shape of the outer peripheral portion of the cushion and coming into contact with the outer peripheral portion of the cushion through the box-like outer cover. The upper plate is mounted to be vertically movable so that the cushion is automatically and uniformly compressed in a direction of thickness of a cushion to permit the outer marginal edge portions of the adjacent box-like covers to be projected outward. The outer marginal edge portions of the adjacent box-like covers are sewn together to provide a mattress. The sewing device can be moved around the entire outer marginal edge portions of the adjacent box-like outer covers.

  • Patent number: 4014069
Abstract: An annular outer frame mounts the assembly in a vehicle. A pair of pivots rotatably support an inner frame (which mounts a window) for rotation about an offset axis between open and closed positions. The pivots can support a frameless window. One of the pivots has a spring-like arm actuated by manually twisting a handle. The arm grips a pivot stud which locks the inner frame or window in a desired position or by proper setting, the gripping pressure exerted by the arm on the stud can provide for a clutch action.

  • Patent number: 4013027
Abstract: This serging machine uses a righthand serging sewing head for serging one edge of an elongate strip of material and another, preferably identical, righthand serging sewing head for serging the opposite edge of that same strip comtemporaneously. This is accomplished by directing the strip material from a front supply roll rearwardly through the machine along one run of a given path, turning the strip 180.degree. at the rear end of the machine to return it forwardly through the serging machine and its feed rolls along another generally parallel run of said path and then rewinding it on a front rewind roll at the front end of said path. One edge is serged during the rearward run; the other during the forward run. First and second motors are used to drive the serging sewing heads continuously. A third motor is used not only to drive the feed rolls continuously to pull the strip through the machine but also to drive the rewind roll through a slip clutch.

  • Patent number: 4012807
Abstract: A hinge for the rear end of a hood that selectively closes a vehicle body forward engine compartment opening, including interconnected body and hood hinge members movable into an interreceived relationship for the hood closed position, and a locking pawl pivotally mounted on the body hinge member such that forced rearward movement of the hood hinge member causes the locking pawl to pivot so as to engage an aperture formed in the hood hinge member, serving to diminish vertical and rearward movement of the hood during impact conditions and upon relaxation of the impact loads.

  • Patent number: 4011973
Abstract: A device for preserving the shape of a visored uniform cap, or the like, is of compact size to fit in pocket of the user. It is formed of at least two elements of rigid material movable longitudinally from pocket length to cap length while held together laterally by one portion seating in an undercut portion of the other. Three rigid, dovetail-slidable, elements permit extension to three times the length of the compacted device. Leaf springs fitting in spaced recesses along the members lock the device at selected lengths. In use the device is at sweat band level within the cap.

  • Patent number: 4011627
Abstract: A mounting for a hinge or the like has a generally rectangular base with a longitudinal rib received in a longitudinally coextensive but transversely enlarged recess of a generally rectangular cover which can be laterally shifted on the rib and secured to it in a selected relative position. The longitudinal edges of the cover, spaced from the base, are engaged by inbent lips of a channel-shaped slider embracing the cover, this slider being immobilizable in a selected longitudinal position by two longitudinally spaced screws; thanks to a curving of the aforementioned edges away from the base, selective tightening of the screws enables the slider to be fastened to the cover in different positions of relative inclination whereby an extremity of that member is independently adjustable in three dimensions with respect to the base.

  • Patent number: 4011628
Abstract: A hinge means for a pivotable window includes a link, formed as a casing and enclosing two meshing gears connecting two pivots, of which one is adapted to be attached to the casement, and the other is adapted to be connected to the frame. These gears will govern the movement of the frame with respect to the link, and the movement of the link with respect to the casing, so the frame will swing about twice as much in relation to the casing as the link will do. Both gears cooperate with braking members at the link, so a continuous braking force is at hand all during a 180.degree. turn of the frame. The attachment for the link at the frame includes a fitting and a fitting plate, having hook means and mating grooves, respectively shaped to ensure a safe retention of the frame in the casement, but permitting an easy mounting and dismounting of the frame.

  • Patent number: 4010562
Abstract: A holder is provided for an embroidery hoop which has a grooved main portion in which is mounted the portion of the embroidery hoop that adjusts the tension of the outer hoop relative to the inner hoop. The main portion is supported by a pair of legs extending perpendicularly therefrom in a horizontal plane. When using the holder of the invention, the embroidery hoop itself acts as a frame with stand thereby obviating the use of a separate frame for the embroidered cloth. The groove in the main portion of the holder is of such depth and length as to cover partly or completely the adjusting portion of the embroidery hoop in order to display the embroidery hoop in an aesthetic fashion.
