  • Patent number: 9008031
Abstract: A method for transmitting a signal via physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) in a wireless communication system and an apparatus for performing the method are provided. Control information bits are modulated to generate N1 modulation symbols, wherein N1 is twice a number of subcarriers in one resource block (RB). The modulation symbols are spread by using various orthogonal codes to generate a plurality of sequences and the generated plurality of sequences are transmitted using different slots of a subframe through different antenna ports, each sequence of the plurality of sequences being mapped on a corresponding single carrier frequency division multiple access symbol in a corresponding slot.

  • Patent number: 8995375
Abstract: In one example of the teachings herein, a network base station (16, 18) includes one or more communication interfaces configured to send messages to a wireless communication device, and one or more processing circuits (36) operatively associated with the communication interface(s). The processing circuits (36) are configured to send a reconfiguration message to the device using an existing downlink control channel configuration for the device, which message indicates a new downlink control channel configuration for the device, and, during a window of control channel configuration ambiguity that arises for the device as a consequence of sending the reconfiguration message, send a control message to the device using both the existing and the new downlink control channel configurations. Such a method of operation advantageously avoids the delays that arise if new downlink control signaling towards the device (20) is deferred until receiving confirmation that the device (20) received the reconfiguration message.

  • Patent number: 8982730
Abstract: A method of discovering and assigning an IP address to a device to be discovered in a communication network having multiple interconnected nodes includes continuously monitoring, by the device to be discovered, the network for address resolution protocol (ARP) requests. The discoverer node transmits a number of ARP request to the network. The device to be discovered receives the number of ARP requests. The device to be discovered determines whether the number of ARP requests are unanswered by other devices in the network. The device to be discovered answers to the number of ARP requests with an ARP reply to claim an IP address associated with the number of ARP requests. The discoverer node and the device to be discovered exchange a pair of User Datagram Protocol (UDP) packets to complete the detection process.

  • Patent number: 8947999
Abstract: Example embodiments of a method and corresponding apparatus for sharing protection resources in a reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer (ROADM) based mesh network are presented. The use of dedicated 1+1 methodologies for protection in a mesh network is reliable, but requires a large amount of equipment redundancy, as well as a large associated cost. According to the embodiments of the present method and apparatus, the total number of protection transponders needed to support single failures in a mesh network is reduced by implementing a preconfigured protection cycle (p-cycle) in the mesh network and configuring nodes along the p-cycle to share protection transponders. Accordingly, the embodiments of the present method and apparatus allow for reliable protection against single failures while lessening the amount of equipment redundancy and reducing the associated cost.

  • Patent number: 8917740
Abstract: A system and method are provided for prioritizing network processor information flow in a channel service manager (CSM). The method receives a plurality of information streams on a plurality of input channels, and selectively links input channels to CSM channels. The information streams are stored, and the stored the information streams are mapped to a processor queue in a group of processor queues. • Patent number: 8885501
Abstract: In one embodiment, a device in a computer network receives a particular packet associated with a transmission attempts value, the associated transmission attempts value indicative of a first number of times a transmitter has attempted to transmit the particular packet. In response, the device increases by one a stored successful attempts value stored at the device, the stored successful attempts value indicative of a second number of times the device has received the same particular packet. As such, a reachability rate of a link from the transmitter to the device may be determined based on comparing the associated transmission attempts value to the stored successful attempts value.
