Abstract: In one implementation, a method of remedying a medical impairment of a user is performed by a device including a processor, non-transitory memory, one or more biometric sensors, an image sensor, and a display. The method includes detecting, based on data from at least one of the image sensor and the one or more biometric sensors, a medical impairment of a user of the head-mounted device from a plurality of potential medical impairments associated with a plurality of remedies. The method includes selecting, from the plurality of remedies, a remedy of the medical impairment of the user. The method includes controlling the display to effect the remedy of the medical impairment of the user.

Abstract: A range hood and a method for controlling the range hood are provided. The apparatus includes a range hood which is capable of photographing a cooking process that is being performed on an upper plate of a cook top by using a camera disposed in the main body of the range hood, and a method for controlling the range hood are provided. In some of the example embodiments, a range hood is capable of photographing a cooking process that is being performed on an upper plate of a cook top that is positioned below a bottom surface of the main body.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes obtaining, from a storage, a video to be enhanced, based on a selection of a user; determining corresponding sets of object scores for a plurality of objects identified in the video, respectively, based on a set of predetermined factors; identifying a primary object and one or more secondary objects in the video, among the plurality of objects, based on the corresponding sets of object scores; and applying at least one visual effect to the primary object and at least one secondary object, from the one or more secondary objects, in at least a portion of the video, for obtaining an enhanced video with the at least one visual effect applied at least to the portion of the video.

Abstract: Example methods and systems for generating a video presentation to accompany audio are described. The video presentation to accompany the audio track is generated from one or more video sequences. In some example embodiments, the video sequences are divided into video segments that correspond to discontinuities between frames. Video segments are concatenated to form a video presentation to which the audio track is added. In some example embodiments, only video segments having a duration equal to an integral number of beats of music in the audio track are used to form the video presentation. In these example embodiments, transitions between video segments in the video presentation that accompanies the audio track are aligned with the beats of the music.

Abstract: A hybrid operation of a license plate recognition (LPR) system and infrastructure monitoring is provided. The system takes advantage of a first mode of operation of the LPR system, by running an infrastructure analytical tool which gathers infrastructure images in parallel with license plate detection. Analytics are applied, via a cloud based analytics engine, to provide detection of infrastructure anomalies, and prediction of potential infrastructure incidents. The system further generates a trigger alert warning of a potential infrastructure incident and recommendation to address the potential infrastructure incident.

Abstract: A method includes: obtaining video data; receiving a target object; processing the video data to obtain one or more first images of the video data that contain an image of the target object and one or more second images of the video data that do not contain the image of the target object; discarding the one or more second images from the video data; generating a background image based on the one or more second images; synthesizing the one or more first images of the video data with the background image to generate one or more synthesized images; obtaining a target image sequence with the one or more synthesized images based on a time order of the one or more first images in the video data; and displaying each of the one or more synthesized images in the target image sequence in a fade-in and fade-out manner.

Abstract: A method for operating a commercial shipping asset includes entering one of a docking and an undocking mode of operations using a vehicle controller of a commercial shipping asset, identifying at least one trusted video source remote from the commercial shipping asset, determining a distance between the commercial shipping asset and at least one object based at least in part on an image analysis of a video feed from the trusted video source, and responding to the determined distance by providing at least one of a warning to an operator of the commercial shipping asset and adjusting an automated or semi-automated operation of the commercial shipping asset.

Abstract: An augmented reality display system is configured to direct a plurality of parallactically-disparate intra-pupil images into a viewer's eye. The parallactically-disparate intra-pupil images provide different parallax views of a virtual object, and impinge on the pupil from different angles. In the aggregate, the wavefronts of light forming the images approximate a continuous divergent wavefront and provide selectable accommodation cues for the user, depending on the amount of parallax disparity between the intra-pupil images. The amount of parallax disparity is selected using a light source that outputs light for different images from different locations, with spatial differences in the locations of the light output providing differences in the paths that the light takes to the eye, which in turn provide different amounts of parallax disparity.

Abstract: A method for editing an audio stream includes recording and storing an audio stream having a first audio segment and a second audio segment. The method includes receiving a request to edit the second audio segment and processing the audio stream to identify a first pause segment defining a period of silence from an end of the first audio segment to a start of the second audio segment. Further, the method includes determining the second audio segment as a segment beginning at an end of the first pause segment and terminating either at an end of the audio stream or at a beginning of a second pause segment recorded in succession to the second audio segment, obtaining a third audio segment including a revised version of the second audio segment, and replacing the second audio segment with the third audio segment.

Abstract: Provided are systems and methods for automatic video processing that employ machine learning models to process input video and understand user video content in a semantic and cultural context. This recognition enables the processing system to recognize interesting temporal events, and build narrative video sequences automatically, for example, by linking or interleaving temporal events or other content with film-based categorizations. In further embodiments, the implementation of the processing system is adapted to mobile computing platforms which can be distributed as an “app” within various app stores. In various example, the mobile apps turn everyday users into professional videographers. In further embodiments, music selection and dialog based editing can likewise be automated via machine learning models to create dynamic and interest professional quality video segments.

Abstract: Techniques for eliminating bias in selectively edited videos are provided. A request to release a video capturing a public safety incident is received. The video is edited to create an edited video. At least one civilian score and at least one public safety official score based on the sentiment of the video is computed. At least one edited civilian score and at least one edited public safety official score based on the sentiment of the video is computed. A first score is computed based on a combination of the civilian score and public safety official score. A second score is computed based on a combination of the edited civilian score and edited public safety official score. The first and second score are compared to determine if a difference between the scores exceed a threshold. The edited video is released when the scores do not exceed the threshold.

Abstract: A method for personalized playback of a video as performed by a video platform includes parsing a video into segments based on visual and audio content of the video. The platform creates multimodal fragments that represent underlying segments of the video, and then orders the multimodal fragments based on a preference of a target user. The platform thus enables nonlinear playback of the segmented video in accordance with the multimodal fragments.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for segmenting and recombining video segments of an input video based on prerequisites is disclosed. The computer-implemented method includes classifying video segments of an input video with respective activities associated with the video segments. The computer-implemented method further includes determining one or more prerequisites for performing classified activities associated with video segments of the input video. The computer-implemented method further includes determining respective users which satisfy the one or more determined prerequisites for performing the classified activities associated with the video segments of the input video. The computer-implemented method further includes generating a new video for a user based, at least in part, on merging those video segments in which the user satisfies the one or more determined prerequisites for performing a classified activity associated with a video segment.
