  • Patent number: 10888971
Abstract: An abrasive jet apparatus configured to machine features into an inner diameter of bored structures. In the abrasive jet apparatus, an abrasive mixture of pressurized liquid and abrasive particles is propelled as an abrasive jet in a direction other than the direction in which the abrasive jet apparatus extends. The abrasive jet apparatus may be implemented in an automated boring system and boring method for machining rifling grooves and other features into bored structures. The boring system and boring method use an iterative process of mapping a target surface of the bored structure and adjusting parameters of the boring system in between successive passes of the abrasive jet on the target surface.

  • Patent number: 10850364
Abstract: A lapping mount tool and a process for lapping a row of head sliders involves affixing the row to a lapping mount tool fixture, actuating each of multiple first actuation pins to set each head slider for lapping to a respective element target stripe height, and simultaneously lapping accordingly. The process may further involve actuating each of multiple second actuation pins to set each head slider for lapping to a respective target wedge angle, and simultaneously lapping accordingly. Each target wedge angle may be achieved by applying a respective angular force to a compliant elastomer adhered to the fixture and to the row, where such angular forces may be applied through at least two flexures interconnecting a rotatable first structural member and a second structural member of the lapping mount tool, wherein the flexures virtually intersect at and define an axis of rotation about which the angular forces are applied.

  • Patent number: 10828744
Abstract: A brush-like grinding stone (3) in a polishing brush (1) includes a brush holder (6) and a linear member aggregate (7) detachably held in the brush holder (6). The linear member aggregate (7) includes a large number of bundles (51) of the linear members (50) obtained by hardening aggregated yarn of inorganic filaments impregnated with a resin, and a brush holder (70) holding ends of the bundles (51). A linear member holder (70) in the linear member aggregate (7) is detachably attached to each of a plurality of holding holes (68) that is open in one side in an axial line direction L. In a case where any of the linear member aggregates has a failure, such as breakage, only the failed linear member aggregate needs to be replaced.
