  • Patent number: 4775066
Abstract: An outdoor receptacle for temporarily storing disposable and reclaimable trash at a collection site prior to the trash being picked up. The receptacle includes a rectangular open top container that is partially buried in the ground and which has a cover hinged thereon that closes over the vertical side walls of the container to provide a weather tight structure. An outwardly extended ground rail is secured to the outside of the container that is at about ground level. An anchor is secured to the bottom wall of the container which acts in concert with the ground rail to stabilize the container in the ground. The interior of the container is compartmentized to segregate disposable and reclaimable waste products. The cover is normally locked to the container in a closed condition so that it can only be opened by the user and the trash collector.

  • Patent number: 4775073
Abstract: A multi-purpose fitting system includes a container having an inner tank and an outer tank made of a plastic material. An aperture is provided at the top of the container in which a multi-purpose fitting is provided. The fitting includes a close-off fitting base having a flange which is permanently attached to an outer surface of the inner tank. A close-off skirt made of a plastics material rest on the flange and extends beyond the flange to additionally rest on the outer tank. This skirt is securely attached to an outer surface of the outer tank such as by a continuous weld which provides a seal between the skirt and outer tank. A close-off ring is threadably received on a threaded upper portion of the close-off fitting base to press the skirt against the flange. A fitting member is threadably received in an interior threaded aperture of the close-off fitting base as appropriate.

  • Patent number: 4768677
Abstract: The invention relates to a fuel tank cap comprising a body, the upper portion of which is provided with a hole. Said hole exhibits a plurality of concave or convex sections which are formed along the inner periphery of the hole. A cover comprises a sleeve, which is formed on the inner periphery of the cover for insertion into the hole of the body, and has a plurality of axial slits. The sleeve is provided with a plurality of convex or concave sections formed along its outer periphery so as to mate with the concave or convex sections of the hole, respectively. When a clamping torque applied on the cap exceeds a predetermined value, an idle-rotation mechanism is established between the sleeve and the hole. The fuel tank cap and, more particularly, such a type of cap can effectively prevent the leakage of fuel in a vehicle fuel tank when the vehicle collides with another vehicle or object.

  • Patent number: 4768675
Abstract: A bulk material container in which a manhole cover has a relief valve. The relief valve includes a resilient spacer ring disposed between a valve seat of the relief valve and a valve plate. A spring urges the valve plate of the relief valve toward the valve seat. When the fluid pressure in the container exceeds a predetermined magnitude, the valve plate is lifted away from the valve seat against the urgency of the spring to vent the fluid in the container to atmosphere. A bulk material container in which a manhole cover has a relief valve. Vacuum relief apertures are formed in a backing plate of the relief valve. The vacuum relief apertures communicate with the fluid in the container and atmosphere. A disc closes the vacuum relief apertures until displaced when the fluid pressure of the fluid within the container is less than atmospheric pressure to provide a path for air under atmospheric pressure to flow into the container through the vacuum relief apertures.

  • Patent number: 4765500
Abstract: The container is preferably a rectangular box or cube and includes a central storage space defined by an identical pair of mating portions. Each portion includes a flat bottom wall, a spaced pair of parallel vertical endwalls bearing upraised integral ears of a width less than the remainder of the endwall. The ears may be rectangular, semi-circular, triangular or another shape. A spaced pair of parallel vertical sidewalls interconnect the bottom wall and endwalls to define the central space, have upper margins level with the bottom of the ears, and have recesses in the outer periphery thereof adapted to snugly slidingly releasably receive the ears and present an essentially continuous surface therewith. Thus, the ears of one portion are received in the recesses of the other portion when one portion is inverted over the other portion rotated 90.degree. and then the two portions are slid together. The ears and recesses act as guides for joining the two portions together.
