Patent number: 5079395Abstract: An actuator plate type electrical switch employs an actuating mechanism which includes an overcentering cam, sleeve, actuator plate, plunger, and biasing spring. The cam is rotatable between first and second overcentered positions and has an actuating lobe aligned with a contact assembly causing the assembly to assume respective contact and non-contact positions upon rotation of the cam to corresponding first and second overcentered positions. The sleeve has a central passage and a transverse slot communicating with the passage. The cam is received through the transverse slot. The sleeve also mounts the actuator plate outwardly from the cam. The sleeve and actuator plate are pivotal together about an axis which extends parallel to the cam rotational axis. The plunger, biased by the spring toward and into continuous engagement with the center of the cam, is slidably mounted in the sleeve passage for reciprocal movement toward and away from the cam.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 1990Date of Patent: January 7, 1992Assignee: Hubbell IncorporatedInventors: David A. Patent number: 5075524Abstract: A manually actuatable electric pushbutton switch that automatically returns to the starting position after actuation, especially such a switch for the keyboard of an electronic device, for example a typewriter, is provided. The switch has a plastic housing in which is disposed a plate spring that is in engagement with an actuating button. The plate spring has a region that during shifting of the actuating button and flexing of the plate spring abruptly jumps to a different position when the electrical contact position is achieved, so that the triggering function is indicated both physically as well as audibly to the user. The region of the plate spring that abruptly reverses is preferably formed by slots, between which the abruptly reversing plate spring strip is defined.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1990Date of Patent: December 24, 1991Assignee: Stocko Metallwarenfabriken Henkels und Sohn GmbH & Co.Inventors: Dieter Klatt, Sami Karacora

Patent number: 5074448Abstract: A golf cart score board and handlebar angular position adjusting structure, comprising a screw rod fastened with a lock nut to secure a handlebar and a score board to a connecting rod which is fixedly fastened in a golf cart's main frame. The handlebar and the score board have each a toothed portion engaged with the toothed portion at either side of the connecting rod with a helical spring each set therebetween. Therefore, the handlebar and the score board can be adjusted to a desired angle relative to the connecting rod and the golf cart's main frame by loosening the lock nut from the screw rod and then fastening it tight.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 1991Date of Patent: December 24, 1991Inventor: Ching-Chang Wu

Patent number: 5075518Abstract: A jack with switch comprises a body that has a plug insertion hole and a switch chamber which is adjacent to the plug insertion hole. The plug insertion hole and the switch chamber communicate with one another. The switch chamber contains a separator partly projecting into the plug insertion hole, a movable contactor piece, and a stationary contactor piece. When a plug is inserted into the plug insertion hole, the separator is transversely displaced to space the movable contactor piece apart from the stationary contactor piece. When the separator is displaced or moved by a predetermined extent, the separator hits a projected wall portion formed in the switch chamber in order to restrict further displacement of the separator. Even if the plug is wrenched in the jack, the movable contactor piece is prevented from excessive displacement.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1990Date of Patent: December 24, 1991Assignee: Hosiden Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventor: Kouji Matsumoto

Patent number: 5073686Abstract: A bar providing a switching member is pivotally connected to a terminal supported within an insulating housing. In normal operating position the knife switch is closed to two switch contacts which allow connection of power from one of the contacts to two types of circuits, such as propulsion and the auxiliary circuits of a railway car. The insulating housing may be provided with a cover which is closed when the switch is in normal closed circuit operating position. To change the position of the switch, the cover must be opened. The bar may be pivoted somewhat less than 180.degree. to engage a single contact which connects the power to one of the circuits, but not the other, for example, only to the auxiliary circuit of a railway car. The knife switch is prevented from moving 180.degree. by an end wall of the housing. But in that position it closes to one contact so that it may be viewed as being closed to power the auxiliary circuit.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1990Date of Patent: December 17, 1991Assignee: Bombardier CorporationInventor: Claude D. Patent number: 5063277Abstract: A push switch includes an electrically insulating cylindrical base defining an interior space in which an actuator is movably disposed. Fixed contacts are associated with the base, while an inverted V-shaped contact is carried by the actuator so as to be capable of coming into contact with the fixed contacts and thereby making and breaking an associated electrical circuit. The base includes stepped detents which coact with terminal engagement ends associated with elastically deformable engagement legs of the actuator so as to limit the actuator's extent of movement. A resilient protective cap collectively covers an upper region of the insulating base and the actuator and is coupled to the base by a pin formed on the base being engaged within a recess formed in the cap.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 1990Date of Patent: November 5, 1991Assignee: Daiichi Denso Buhin Co., Ltd.Inventors: T. Patent number: 5055644Abstract: In a snap locking mechanism for rotary switches an operating shaft (4) operable by a switch handle can be rotated against the force of an energy-storage mechanism and each lock-in position is occupied with at least partial release of the energy-storage mechanism. The energy-storage mechanism is formed by axially acting compression springs (8) and acts on a driver ring (6) exhibiting slopes in the peripheral direction which interacts with another driver ring (13), couplable with the operating shaft, exhibiting a corresponding counterprofile with slopes. A coupling for dragged slaving (28, 29) is provided between the two driver rings (6, 13). Handle-side driver ring (6) carries stops (11) on its front facing away from these slopes, which interact with counterstops (12), integral with the housing, when they reach the snap position of the locking mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 1990Date of Patent: October 8, 1991Assignee: Hubert L.
