Abstract: A disconnecting switch for a high voltage electrical substation, including a plurality of articulated arms pivotally connected together to define a movable system, one end of the movable system connected to a stationary support. The switch includes a contact head connected to an opposite end of the movable system, a main conducting bar suspended from a high voltage conductor, such that the contact head is movable between the main conducting bar and the stationary support via the movable system, and a stationary arcing contact electrically connected to the main conducting bar.

Abstract: A ball holder made of stretchable fabric with one or more dispensing openings 14 ) through which balls can be inserted and removed. The dimensions of the holder hold the balls snugly into place without them moving or coming out of the dispensing opening (14) prematurely. This holder can be attached to other items such as a bag or belt with a loop (24).

Abstract: A combination backpack and stool is provided with a frame having a seat-defining member upon which a user may sit, a ground-engageable member for supporting the frame upon a surface, and an upright pedestal member rigidly coupled to and between the seat-defining member and the ground-engageable member so as to establish a space therebetween. A flexible material encloses the defined space to provide a storage compartment for articles. A pair of shoulder straps are attached to the frame and thus allow a user to carry the frame in the form of a backpack. When periodically resting, however, the frame may be set upon the ground so that the user can sit and rest upon the seat-defining member.

Abstract: A backpack system having upper and lower modules that are connected by a three-axes ball joint assembly. This joint assembly permits free movement of the hips relative to the shoulders in all directions while transmitting the load to the hips.The backpack system can easily be separated into upper and lower modules which can be worn independently of each other.

Abstract: The handle of a circuit breaker is blocked from movement to the off positiion, when the contacts are welded closed, thereby preventing rotation of the common cross-bar on which contact arms carrying the movable contacts are mounted, by an interlock which includes radial extensions on the arms of a pivoted handle yoke which radially engage projections on the cross-bar.

Abstract: A switch actuator mounted in a housing for axial and rotary movement operates a rotary switch on the actuator axis through an axial lost motion connection. A pushbutton switch offset from the axis is engaged by a semi-circular plate radially extending from the actuator and is actuated upon axial movement of the actuator for any rotary position of the actuator. Optionally, the plate has apertures which register with the pushbutton switch at selected actuator rotary positions to disable pushbutton operation at the selected positions. The actuator is made of light conducting transparent plastic to illuminate an indicator on the switch knob from a bulb within the housing. A flexible detent finger integrally molded into the housing engages the plate during its axial movement to impart tactile feel.

Abstract: A remotely controllable circuit breaker device for interrupting power in a circuit path between a source and a load includes local and remote monitoring capabilities and a worm-gear mechanism for reliable control of the interruption mechanism. The device includes a first contact and a second contact cooperatively arranged in the circuit path so as to provide current from the source to the load. At least one of the contacts are movable for interrupting the power provided to the load. The worm gear mechanism includes a motor with a rotatable shaft which responds to open and closed control signals generated from a remote location, and a gear, rotatably responsive to the rotatable shaft, for controlling the movable contact so that the circuit path is interrupted and established, respectively. The worm gear mechansim controls the movable contact using a coupling arrangement, which has a first part coupled to the movable contact and a second part coupled to the gear.

Abstract: A curved food container having a cylindrical body portion, a curved extension portion and a mouth portion. The mouth is covered by a removable closure in order to retain the contents. The body portion includes an indentation for positioning, orienting and securing the container to a holder attached to a bicycle frame such that the mouth of the container extends away from the indentation and frame.

Abstract: An electrical switch which has a body, a contact base at one end of the body, a cam member positioned for rotation within the body, and a plunger positioned within the body for nonrotating movement. The cam member has a conductive bridge contact portion and has cam followers which engage the cam surface in the base to move the cam member between a make position in which the bridge is in contact with contacts on the base and a break position in which the bridge is spaced from the contacts on the base. The plunger has an actuatable pushbutton portion extending from the body and has driving portions which engage driven portions on the cam member to rotate the cam member upon nonrotating movement of the plunger. The plunger engages the cam member to provide a rotating first camming action, while the cam member engages the base to provide a nonrotating second camming action.

Abstract: A device for detachably and pivotally connecting a pair of objects such as a toilet seat and lid to a toilet bowl. The device includes a receiving member fixedly mounted on the toilet bowl and a main body connected with the toilet seat and lid. The main body includes a spring biased hook assembly engageable with the receiving member and being manually released from engagement with the receiving member to enable separation of the body and receiving member to thereby enable separation of the toilet seat and lid from the toilet bowl.

Abstract: A back pack for carrying a gas operated blower. The back pack has a frame and straps for supporting the frame on the back of an operator. The frame has a dual wall construction forming an internal fuel storage tank. Thus, the blower does not need a separate fuel tank. This reduces the weight and cost of the back pack and blower.

Abstract: A hand gun in a holster is completely concealed by a simulated carrying pouch. A backing is mounted on a wearer, as with a belt around the wearer's waist. A holster is mounted on the backing completely within the area defined by the top, bottom and ends of the backing. A flap, permanently attached at the bottom to the backing but releasably attached by hook and pile fasteners (VELCRO.RTM.) at the top and two ends of the backing defines a textile material (fabric) or leather container which simulates a carrying pouch and completely conceals the holster and hand gun. Pockets may be provided in the flap. The holster is reversibly mounted on the backing using hook and pile fasteners, and hook and pile fastener straps releasably hold the hand gun within the holster. To gain access to the hand gun, the hook and pile fasteners at the top and two ends of the backing and flap are detached to completely expose the handgun for ready access.

Abstract: The invention relates to a switch device which is suitable for use, for example, in a telephone to detect the presence of the handset (11) in the cradle (9). The switch device comprises a frame (3), a switch (4) movable in relation to the frame, and a separate plunger (2) acting on the switch, the plunger comprising a press knob (5) and a spring part (6). The plunger operates by bringing the switch (4) into the connecting position and by releasing it, after the pressure has ceased, to return to the initial position. It is essential in the invention that the spring part (6) of the plunger comprises a part which is against the switch (4) and is wider than the switch, is of a resilient material and hollow. This part (6) may be made up, for example, of a transverse sleeve or ring as an extension of the press knob (5).

Abstract: A holder device for fixedly securing a load (4, 5), for example a bicycle, on a vehicle roof is provided with a support channel (1) in which the wheel (4) of the cycle rests. The holder device is further provided with a retaining stirrup (6, 7) pivotal to an operative position for engagement with the frame tube (5) of the cycle. The retaining stirrup is connected by the intermediary of joints (8) to the support channel (1), which is, in its turn, secured with a releasable, U-shaped yoke (10) in the region of the connection between the retaining stirrup (6, 7) and the support channel (1), on a strut (3) disposed transversely across the vehicle roof.

Abstract: A circuit breaker includes an interlock which prevents movement of the handle to the off position when the contacts are welded closed. The interlock includes a pair of floating links which jam between slots in arms of the yoke of a spring powered operating mechanism which carries the handle, and recesses in the rotatable cross-bar carrying the movable contact arms. The recesses are offset from the rotational axis of cross-bar so that an attempt to move the switch to the off position generates a moment which will break open lightly welded contacts.

At least one of portions contacting each other between the support element and the movable contact element is provided with a clad layer of a high conductive noble metal which extends in the rocking direction at the width less than that of the contacting portions.

Abstract: A lift stool for use in conjunction with removable pot or a stationary toilet bowl is provided to assist disabled person in being lowered toward a seated position and elevated back up to a standing position and the lift stool includes elevated arms rests which may be swung upwardly to out of the way positions to enable a person to assist a more seriously disabled person in using the lift stool, a control for raising and lowering the associated toilet seat being mounted from one of the free swinging ends of the upwardly swingable arms rests and the lift stool including support wheels normally spaced slightly above a horizontal surface upon which the lift stool rests and over and onto which the lift stool may be rearwardly tilted to a position in which the raised armrests may be used as handlebars for manually rolling the lift stool over a floor surface.

Abstract: A shopping list holder having a novel method of fastening the holder on a vertical rod of a child seat on a standard shopping cart. The method of fastening permits the list holder to be positioned at two distinct angles of repose. The angle of reponse that is more accessible by the user is selected merely by choosing whether to fasten the list holder around a vertical rod from the right to left or from left to right. The use of magnetic strips enables the holder to be stored on a refrigerator or other metal surface to keep the list holder readily available for use at home.
