  • Patent number: 7261436
Abstract: A method for implementing lighting utilizes a lighting fixture having a plurality of lateral reflector positions, including selectively installing a first type reflector panel or a second type reflector panel in individual ones of the plurality of lateral reflector positions, the first type reflector panel having a greater uplighting capacity compared to the second type reflector panel, whereby the selectively installing determines, for the lighting fixture, a proportion of uplight versus downlight. For a plurality of tube positions disposed in a plane, a method may include vertically positioning a reflector assembly with respect to the plane. Individual reflector panels may be replaced by flexing the panel. A method may include providing a sensor switch operative to detect an occupant and connect an electrical path when the occupant is detected, and providing a selector for selecting ones of the ballasts to be connected to the electrical path by the sensor switch.

  • Patent number: 7258473
Abstract: A vehicle lamp can include a first light source located almost at the center of an emission region, and a transparent cover lens arranged to cover the front in the direction of illumination from the first light source. A central reflective portion of the cover lens can be located in front of the first light source to receive light from the first light source and reflect it toward the entire circumference in a direction almost perpendicular to the direction of illumination. A diametrical outer reflective portion can be located at the rim of the cover lens to receive the light from the first light source and reflect it along the direction of illumination for radial emission. The central reflective portion and the outer reflective portion of the cover lens can be integrated with a joint portion of the same material.

  • Patent number: 7258474
Abstract: Headlamp systems are provided that form desired beam patterns from light supplied by semiconductor light sources. The systems include a source array of semiconductor light sources and a lens system to produce the spread components of desired beam patterns and a source array of semiconductor light sources and a lens system to produce the hot spot components of the desired beam patterns. Light from the semiconductor light sources of each source array is transferred to the respective lens system by a transfer device comprising a series of fiber optic cables which capture light emitted by the semiconductor light sources and emit the captured light adjacent the respective lens systems. One or both source arrays can include additional semiconductor light sources which are selectively illuminated or extinguished to provide steering hot spots in the beam pattern to illuminate areas adjacent the vehicle over which the vehicle will be turned.

  • Patent number: 7249867
Abstract: A lighting fixture assembly includes a housing assembly that forms an interior. A valve mechanism is associated with the housing assembly and is configured to automatically vent fluid from the interior to the atmosphere when the pressure in the interior exceeds a threshold level. Otherwise, the valve mechanism seals the interior from the atmosphere. The lighting fixture also includes a pressure-equalization mechanism, separate from the valve mechanism, which is also associated with the housing assembly. The pressure-equalization mechanism is configured to, upon activation, substantially equalize the interior pressure with the atmosphere pressure and to otherwise seal the interior from the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 7246915
Abstract: An illuminating device for an enclosed receptacle, such as a purse or handbag. Because it is difficult to see the contents of a purse due to darkness, the invention includes a light-emitting membrane electrically connected to a power supply and a switch. Actuation of the switch turns the membrane on to illuminate the interior of the purse. The membrane also has a backbone, such as a pair of malleable wires, mounted to it, such as by double-sided tape. The wires, upon bending of the membrane and wires to conform to the interior shape of the purse, retain their deformed shape, and maintain the membrane at the deformed shape. The opposite side of the double-sided tape preferably adheres the membrane and backbone to the interior of the purse or other receptacle.
