  • Patent number: 10397124
Abstract: An adaptive network-based approach for reducing congestion on certain select-group of flows within a programmable network wherein switches dynamically adjust the receive window size (rwnd) and/or the ACK pace of other TCP flows by interfering their ACK packets, those flows sharing network resources causing congestion on the select-group of flows. The TCP flow rate is reduced to make more network resources available to the group of select-flows. The system of invention further comprises a centralized controller detecting so called a ‘bad queue’ causing persistent traffic slow-down due to TCP behavior. The bad queue detection is performed by (i) monitoring switch ports' transmit and receive queues, (ii) calculating minimum packet sojourn times on queues, (iii) determining which flows to slow down to clear detected bad queues, and (iv) sending messages to certain switches to execute changes to a group of ACK packets.

  • Patent number: 10375731
Abstract: Techniques are provided for dynamic forbiddance of wireless transmissions by transmitters of one or more overlapping basic service set (OBSS) concurrent with transmissions of a transmitter in a first basic service set (BSS). A first transmitter of a first BSS may identify a transmission that is to be a protected transmission, and based on the identification may dynamically forbid one or more other transmitters of an OBSS that overlaps with the first BSS from concurrent transmissions with the protected transmission. An access point or station of an OBSS may receive an indication of the forbiddance of transmissions and may apply deferral rules to defer transmissions based on the forbiddance. One or more disincentive rules may be applied at the first transmitter to provide disincentives for forbidding OBSS reuse.

  • Patent number: 10374913
Abstract: A data retention probe for a packet-switched, mobile telecommunications network employs interfaces to connect to interfaces carrying traffic on a mobile network side of a gateway node and on a global internet side of the gateway node. A FPGA creates for each packet at least one fingerprint of one or more fields that are unchanged as part of the address translation performed by the gateway node and to create informative metadata for those packets. A processing unit: (1) receives from the FPGA the fingerprints and metadata and maintains flow records for each flow of packets seen on each side of the gateway node; and (2) compares the fingerprints and, where a match is found, determines those packets to be part of the same communication session and creates a record correlating internal IP address or a subscriber identifier to external IP address and port number.

  • Patent number: 10368348
Abstract: Techniques for control channel signaling on a shared communication medium are disclosed. An access point or an access terminal may communicate over a communication medium in accordance with a Time Division Duplex (TDD) frame structure defining a set of subframes that each span a plurality of time-domain symbol periods. The access point may transmit and the access terminal may receive control information via a short Physical Uplink Control Channel (sPUCCH) on one or more of the subframes in a portion of the subframe configured for uplink signaling. The sPUCCH may comprise one or more pilot symbols and one or more payload symbols that collectively occupy a subset of less than all of the symbol periods in each of the one or more subframes.

  • Patent number: 10341696
Abstract: A method of preparing data streams to facilitate seamless switching between such streams by a switching device to produce an output data stream without any switching artifacts. Bi-directional switching between any plurality of data streams is supported. The data streams are divided into segments, wherein the segments include synchronized starting points and end points. The data rate is increased before an end point of a segment, to create switch gaps between the segments. Increasing the data rate can include increasing a bandwidth of the plurality of data streams, for example by multiplexing, or compressing the data. The present invention can be used, for example, with MPEG or AC-3 encoded audio and MPEG encoded video segments that are multiplexed into MPEG-2 transport streams. Also included are specific methods for preparing MPEG video streams and multiplexing MPEG video with MPEG or AC-3 audio streams to allow a receiver to create seamless transitions between individually encoded segments.

  • Patent number: 10333993
Abstract: A process is provided which facilitates providing information to a user in an Internet telephony environment. A Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) message including a SIP message header is received from a user. A string pattern matching operation identifies a stored regular expression pattern which matches a character string in a user part of the SIP message header. One portion of the character string identifies an application mapped to the stored pattern. A further portion of the character string identifies one or more variables for use by the application.
